  2. Got a call while in Disney World from the company taking over Chrysler training. Offer of a job with them. Should be starting end of Jan :D . Same job, same perks and a raise to boot  .
  3. 14mm valve cover bolt?
  4. If it is a v6 it is probably a 86, and gutless was engineered in.

    Adding RAM

It says that 1 gig is the limit. It also says 512 is the limit per slot. I'll just get a 512 stick and be done with it. 512 is plenty for what I do. This machine is just to get me through until I get another job anyhow. Thanks guys.

    Adding RAM

OK. Swapped RAM around. Appears that the new RAM is fine, the problem is that one of the RAM sockets doesn't read or something. It will only boot with RAM in DIMM socket B, with or without RAM in socket A. Any idea if there something I need to toggle in the BIOS or something? Boy I miss my Macbook. :(

    Adding RAM

Thanks guys. I'm going to pull out the original ram and try to boot it with just the new ram.

    Adding RAM

So I am right in assuming that it should show as 512 under properties of my computer? Thanks.

    Adding RAM

Bought a used Dell Inspiron to replace my Macbook for now. Had one 256 stick in it. Bought a second 256 and installed it. How do I know that all is well? The computer turns on and runs fine, but when I check "properties" under "my computer" it still shows 256 for RAM? Where can I check for sure? It is XP by the way. Thanks!
  10. First gen Sprinter (VA) was a 5 cylinder. Second gen (VB) has the same Mercedes 3.0 liter CRD.
  11. Still wrong :D . It's a six banger.
  12. How would disconnecting the battery cause the alt to go "full field"? Take a look at some wiring schematics and see how things are wired. Our trucks are still using solid state voltage regulators, and newer vehicles have fields controlled by the PCM based on a system voltage sense wire. Neither is dependent on the battery being in the system to function. I guess we shall agree to disagree
  13. DON'T DO IT! You can fry the computer from the power spike as well as kill the alternator if it wasn't already dead. That trick was good on old cars without electronics, but I have seen too many people fry alternators and computers from doing this! Had a customer come in a couple weeks ago complaining his new alternator (third one) was no good. Went out to his rig and watched in horror as he pulled the cable off the battery and say "See? It won't run longer than 5 minutes with the cable off which means it's no damn good!" Took awhile to explain to him that is car, which died when he pulled the cable off, now needed a computer. "It was working fine when I pulled in here! It must be your damn faulty alternator that killed it!" I said to him "Here's your sign!" after trying 5 different times to explain to him what he did wrong. Now he's going to sue us because we didn't explain to him in advance that would happen. :rotf: When you pull the cable off, the electronic regulator full fields the alt (maximum output) which has no place to go unless everything in the rig is on and the RPMs are high enough for the alt to keep up. It shoots up to almost 18 volts before killing itself or $omething el$e! I disagree. Where did you get this information from?
  14. Brent, there is no rush on mine (Joe St.) as I am leaving Saturday for two weeks in, ORLANDO! (Well actually West Palm and then to Orlando) :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
  15. 3 banger diesel? Canada option? :D
  16. :agree: That is correct according to the FSM That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Actually the '90 FSM says head bolt #11 should be coated with Locktite 592. That is a thread sealer because #11 headbolt goes in to a water jacket. That is also why it has different torque specs. "Loctite" is just a brand name. ( or did you know this and are just being a smart donkey? :D )
  17. MJ interior lights are notorious for their crappyness (new word). Most upgrade to something else. Check for related posts.
  18. :agree: , or find a CRD WK. That 3.0L Mercedes engine is awesome in the torque department. Almost 400 lb/ft at 1800 rpm's, and easy mid 20's for fuel mileage.

  22. It is a "look up" light :D . That is a stupid up shift light. The ultimate in idiot lights. Lets you know when to shift. You could get rid of that plastic connector and splice your lines together with vacuum hose. Especially the MAP hose.

  24. Question. What is the reason for putting the outer seal back in/ replace it when doing this swap?
