  1. I assumed you actually HAD the r12 (like the 20lb cylinder in my basement :D ). You can remove the compressor and drain it.
  2. If the dent was fairly high up on the side of the pan where it sticks out, then you cracked the oil pump. The dent is from the UC mount on the axle hitting the pan. I have seen this at least a half dozen times over the years working on Jeeps. If you haven't run the engine too much, you might be able to drop the pan (again) and just change the pump. The lifters get oiled from the main oil gallery, which then pump the oil up the push rods to the rockers.
  3. I wouldn't buy it just cause the kid thinks it has a body lift
  4. Which cyl is still getting lubrication? I think it is time to throw a pressure guage on there. What kind of wreck was the truck in? Any impact to the right front area?
  5. You really should get out all the ester and replace it with a PAG oil. The 134a mixes best with PAG, and the 134a is what carries the oil throughout the system. I would probably stick with r12 if you have a supply.
  6. I don't have any personal experience with this, but it sounds like you have it figured out with the 1/4 inch gap. That is probably allowing the spring to move back and forth.
  7. Here is my old 93 Z with 3" lift and 31's. Nice all around ride. I definitly like the interiors of the 96 to 98 Z's though. If you find one that is AWD (249 t-case), drive it a few miles to get it warm, then turn in tight circles in a paved parking lot. If it buck while turning, the viscous coupler is toast. Not a hard fix, but the coupler will cost a few hundred just for the part.
  8. Global warming at it finest! :D

    Check This OUT!

    Where's the gas door?
  10. ALL is a very broad term. What are you looking to swap?

    Hella Optilux

Anyone have these? They are way too inexpensive to be REAL Hella lights, but for the price and 100w it is tempting to try the driving lights. They look suspiciously like KC daylighters and the last pair of those I bought were junk. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hella-Op ... ccessories
  12. Some only had the one port as it is a reservoir. Try capping of the other port and see if it works.
  13. Big screwdriver or prybar. Spray the end with a little lube first. The plastic bushing may come out with it. Or, you could just unbolt the shift lever from the t-case and take it off with the linkage.
  14. Don't know what you guys are crying about. They are only there to serve and protect! :rotf: Society would go in the crapper if parking was not strictly enforced!

    new compressor

Yup, definitly planning on some sort of hard rubber isolators. It isn't bolted down yet as I'm still deciding on what to use. Maybe hockey pucks?
  16. That is just the heat riser, not part of the exhaust really. Definitly not your power loss problem. Check those vacuum hoses.
  17. Still not buying it. Butchery, plain and simple.
  18. To me it sounds like you are used to f'in up just like the dumbass windshield installer. Wouldn't have mattered if the dash was made out of eggshells, it should have not been damaged by installing a windshield.

    new compressor

Will do. I'm rebuilding a '49 Farmall H in that garage so I'll be doing some grinding with an angle grinder. That will give it a workout. Am going to give painting a try as well.
  20. http://rochester.craigslist.org/cto/1237927492.html I wonder what slightly smaller v6 would bolt in a Cherokee?

    new compressor

Thanks! . Learned something new today. Kinda like a scroll A/C compressor.
  22. Is the vehicle getting up to full operating temp? Anything that causes the vehicle to run richer than normal will give you high CO and HC. Check for condiditon of vacuum line to MAP sensor. Vacuum leak causes lower vacuum reading which the ECU interprets as a load and richens up the mixture. Also, if the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail is bad, or has bad vacuum getting to it, it can cause higher fuel pressure at idle and richen up the mixture.
  23. Don't know about where you live, but to put a lien on someones vehicle takes more than my word to the DMV as a mechanic. There is also a dollar amount that needs to be figured in. I couldn't put a lien on someones car because they owe me $10. I've been a tech for 25 yrs and had my own shop. Like anything else there is paperwork to go along with the process.

Noise was one of my considerations as well. Those oil less are ungodly noisey.
