here's some more of the swamp monster After seeing this, I was suprised the Manche even pulled itself up on the trailer. The exhaust ports on the intake manifold were also completely plugged with carbon and grime. Made me want to go visit the PO and, well... :thwak:

My grandfather was like that too. Even when he was suffering from alzheimers and couldn't remember who we were, you could ask him about almost any baseball players and he'd recite stats to you like he was reading them straight out of a book!

If only I was always that motivated. Did get alot done today though, got the intakes off of my good and bad engine, got the carb'd one cleaned up, valve covers cleaned, painted tomorrow, intake gaskets in place, water pump off, new one on tomorrow, intake is getting finished put on tomorrow. To maybe clear up some confusion, my old 2.8 bit the dust, so i bought a new one out of an s10 just to get it up and running so i can enjoy it before i ship out to basic training, and the new one is fuel injected, and would require more work than the engine is worth to run in the MJ. So I had to swap the intake, all brackets, valve covers, and accessories from the old engine to the new one. and once i got the valve covers and intake off the old one, i see why it bit the dust. Any oil that was once there is now sludge. All i knew is that the motor sat for six years, but seeing the condition of it, i think it didnt get an oil change the past 50,000 miles either. :ack: :fs1: That doesnt even scratch the surface on how bad the sludge and grime is in the engine, i'll post some more pics once i get them off my phone.

Looking forward to the pictures! I'm still pretty new to the forum, so I just stumbled upon your thread, but it sounds good to me! -
Thats awesome. I would've ridden that to school! :clapping:

Never knew who it was by, thats just what youtube always said so i went with it

Well, same topic, sooner date, anyone else read about the solar flares that NASA is saying could have similar effects on all of our electronics as an EMP? If they're right, back to the dark ages! Or, the more recent "zombies" in florida. I think the latter would be more fun personally, but then again I'm a little

This has been playin on my stereo here recently

I think these are what eagle was talking about, Detours is pretty well known over on cherokeeforum, and i've never seen a bad review about him or his stuff, all seems top quality! http://detoursusa.com/fsc.php

:agree: I'd really like to see the interior. And for some reason, that gas cap sticks out to me...I want one! I also really like the headlight "shields". Not sure about the plastic roll bar though, gives it a sort of chevy avalanche look

I think for tow vehicles we need a couple comanche duallys, and the show girls seems to be the safest route, however with our extraction team ready at all times in case the security guards figure out whats up. However..with these pictures and diagrams, and the right Jeepers for the job, I think we can do it! Thunderchief....

I want to eventually make tubing flares like that, and tie them in to the front bumper, rockers, and rear bumper! similar to what Detours did on his XJ

Well, its summer, and since i just graduated yesterday , that means i now have free time and graduation money to pour into the Manche! My goal is to have the engine in it and running by friday! My only breaks shall be to workout in the morning and eat! Full steam ahead! :wrench:

Thanks! I know I'm gonna need it, they're not the best in the world for nothing! I've got the rest of the summer to train hard, in between wrenching on the manche of course! Gotta get her running so i can drive it halfway across the country to whatever base i get stationed at!

Not sure if it helps, but this is a vacuum diagram i found awhile back for the 2.8 http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Engine/2_8L.htm Hope it helps a bit, I'm going to be doing the same thing as you when i put my engine back in, maybe we can exchange notes on the subject :wrench:

I personally believe its worth it, and besides, nothing comes without risk, but when its a lifelong dream, those risks seem bigger because, since its been a lifelong dream, theyve been thought of alot more and so are more prominent in your mind. I personally took a big risk back on Valentines day when I swore in to the Navy. I've wanted to be a Navy SEAL ever since second grade, not much risk most would think, but I only get one shot at BUD/s (Prereq for actual SEAL training), and if I fail, well i just committed to 5 years on a boat using paint scrapers and a mop. If you like tedious, horrible "labor", maybe not much of a risk, but I have the itchin to be out in the fray, but if I'm gonna do it, I wanna be the best, so no Army or Marines for me, where I'm guaranteed a job I want. Personally, I think the risk is definately worth it, but, as with BUD/s, if you don't truly want it, don't bother. Do, or do not, if its your lifelong dream, give it your all or nothing. Just my $0.02

don't mean to hijack, but what about the '86 MJ's with the 2.8 v6? Will a full cluster with tach from any 4.0 jeep work? :hijack:

RockMJ's 88' Resto-Mod Build Journal

I love the color, mines a funny copper orange, and I've been wondering how it would look with all the stupid chrome painted black, and you just showed me! Your attention to detail is awesome, and quite inspiring! Thankfully...I have nice, clean, OE black interior  -
Thats great to hear! Also... :D

Thats what i'll do then, and just cap where they go. I found a good vacuum diagram, but it didnt have anything about the cad/tcase vacuum lines, only the those going to the engine/intake. Which is still too many.
-
Thats what I'm referring to, the four lines that come plug into the top of the tcase, do I need them, or can i pull them and plug the holes on the tcase?
-
I recently locked my CAD over due to one of the steel vacuum lines being cut, but was wondering if i can pull all of them, because the CAD lines were connected to a line that went to my tcase. So can i pull that too and just plug where it connected at the tcase, or is that needed for other things?
