Long Sunvisors replaced with short visors.
ridergoatee replied to 88XJSport's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The part of the roof that the clips mount to is double walled and runs the width of the cab.So in fact, you are not drilling into the roof itself, but into that. Just don't drill thru it and the roof! The exact spot where the clips mount to are also raised (small little square bumps, for lack of official terminology). So I'm not sure if all MJ's are stamped out that way from factory. Here's a poor pic I took with cell phone at night. Image Not Found Keep in mind, you are lookin at roof with no headliner panel in this pic. -
photo of the eagle in another place The Eagle above the doorway on the other side of the Runder Saal (on the Marmorgalerie side) is in the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio (although it is no longer displayed as seen above) the last quote makes me wonder because it says it is in the museum, but is no longer displayed there... Not sure, but maybe they are just sayin' that it is still there, just not displayed with the Nazi flag.

Just replaced my CPS...
ridergoatee replied to 2wdcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I really like the trick of when replacing, slotting the mounting holes on the CPS,no need to remove bolts all the way and risk dropping into bell housing next time. :brows: -
They have one in the Imperial War museum in London and one in the Air Force museum in Dayton,Ohio. Might try contacting the one in Ohio.Maybe they could tell ya or point ya in the right direction? :hmm:

Had problems getting on myself, had no prob in the past. Now the only way I can get on is to use ninjaproxy.com,type in naxja.org,wait a few secs, then hit the go to site tab when it pops up.I only use them for the CO.chapter classifieds when lookin for pieces parts.

Had the drop brackets, let em get away with the 86' I just sold. That truck rode like a caddy! Just didn't like the ground clearence issue. Those DB's take a beating no matter how hard u try to avoid it. -

Hell, here in Colorado, I know of a couple of guys who kept the plate in the windshield and were pulled over and ticketed to the tune of a C-note!
-
The problem with some of the covers, is the notch in the bench. Some covers don't allow for that and just run straight across, creating empty space and lousy, loose fit.
-
Track bar and steering stabilizer caused mine. But I had DW as mentioned above and I too will never forget that experience!
-
Stay away from auto part store bench covers! The bench fit bites! Think maybe I saw a custom fit cover for MJ bench on JC Whitney site. look for the "custom" or "made for comanche" wording in their discription.

My engine size made my mind up for me. 86' LB 4x4 has 2.5L. 92' 4x2 has 4.0L. Although the LB will outclimb even my XJ 4.0L, the problem is just "driving" the 2.5L to the mountains.2nd and 3rd gear tops! So coverting the 2x4 SB is the way I'm goin'. Also agree with all said above. My LB has nowhere near the manuverability as my SB or my XJ. I'm goin SB 4x4 and a trailer, LOL. :chillin:

By the way, where are you located in So. Colorado?

Yea, got one guy that is doin' everything he can to buy it. Guess it's pending a truck sale of his own. Told him that if he doesn't buy pretty quick, I'm keepin it. Was pricing out on the internet what I have in parts under that truck and damn! I should be swappin them into the 92' and then sell the 86' cheap.

Well, with lots of thread searches and a few quick questions answered by some of you guys,I'm finally done stripping the donor 92'XJ for the parts needed for my 92' MJ. Tranny, transfer, floor shift linkage and tilt steering. Been kinda a slow go,work and bad weather interference and all. Stripping & selling other pieces/parts too.Still have to remove lift leaf springs if I can find a set of stocks to swap in.Will end up selling those and the engine(unless I can make room to keep for a spare).Got both inside and engine wire harnesses(if you know anyone needing them). Can't wait to roll the heep out and the manche in to begin installs! Thanx to all.Wouldn't been able to pull this off w/out CC.com! Donor Heep! Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Soon to be 4x4 Recipient! Image Not Found

The 86' has 214,000 and still runnin' strong! 92' has 160,000

Quick Tranny removal question
ridergoatee replied to ridergoatee's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanx for the tips. But do those 2 bolts that hold the CPS even have to be removed to pull the tranny? I'd rather not even mess with em' and run any risk of a no start when installed. The bolts look like they in a adjustable slot.If they do have to be removed, will they have to be in the exact same location? Good news is: removed tilt steering column and instrument cluster using past threads I've read here with no complications. Going to change from auto column shift to floor.Any tricks to disconnecting the 2 cable ends from shifter? One runs to column for key lock? and other to tranny of course. thanx again, ko -
Dropping a tranny and transfer outta a 92 cherokee to install in my 2wd 92 comanche.Think I've got all elec. connectors, linkage and hose disco'ed, except for CPS.Question is:do I have to unbolt CPS from bell housing,or just unplug it in the engine compartment to remove tranny before I take on those dreaded E12 bolts at the top?Thanx for any help or tips you can throw at me. ko

If only lifting 3", why even mess with calipers, just take the brakeline mounting screw in wheel well loose, then relocate it to gain length.
