  1. There's a wide piece of molding below rear window that catches the top and two metal L brackets at the base and a couple of side clips if I recall. Took a while, but finally ran across one at the JY. Here's a pic that shows it a little. Image Not Found
  2. Sounds like a good idea. Although mine is bypassed with an in-line fuse.
  3. Thanx for the reply. This new "growl or loud "hum" I never noticed before. Would just hear pump kick on and off at start up.And the new noise is much louder than the 1-2 sec. start up whine.
  4. Took the jeep wheelin' Sunday and had a recurrence of a previous prob. Jeep is cutting out like gettin no fuel. When ocurred before, found broke vac line at intake manifold, fixed that and replaced fuel filter also. Well it did it again and this time I could hear fuel pump growling non-stop till it finally stalled again and wouldn't restart. Turned key on on off a few times and heard pump kick on and off but not every time. After sitting while rigging tow strap,it started and had no issues all the way home. Other than hearing the pump "growling" non-stop. Ran into a XJ on trail and he said he had same prob and it was his pump going out. Does that sound right? Or does a pump slowly die or not? Thought maybe someone else might have had same type prob. Any input would be greatly appreciated as always, thanx ko

  6. Guess I should have listened to CW, that it would be no problem! Got all the flex I wanted, and then some! Image Not Found
  7. Exxxxactly! :laughin:
  8. Thanx again,Pete!
  9. Are u kiddin me? Depending on where the jobsite is that they send me and my dozer to, I drive my 82' vw rabbit convertible! 35 mpg! Just turned 104,000 miles. Known to go 300,000. Best 500 bucks I ever spent, and gotta admit, alot fun to drive too!
  10. I've heard of a few quick fixes, ratchet strap, etc. I went with this to get me thru the day. And it worked. By the way Pete, did u get my email about my avatar? thanx, ko
  11. I'm interested, depending on time and place.Keep me posted. :chillin:
  12. Went wheelin with a couple of xj buddies sunday at Eagle Rock/Saran Wrap outside Colorado Springs, rated 7 on the scale, but I believe a couple of spots we went have eroded into 8's! Went well after a couple of field fixes.Time to check out the dana 44,4.10's and front and rear lockers. My MJ made mince meat of all obstacles! Runs it took the unlocked XJ's a dozen or attempts,I did 1st time,no tire spin! I was totally impressed with this converted 2x4. Here are some pics not exactly in order. 13. Don't really think this belongs in the tech forum, sometimes I think there should be a dumbass forum!Went wheelin sunday and quickly realized I left out replacing a motor mount on my to do list! :dunce: Didn't take long to figure it out, either. So, pack it in for the day,or not. NOT. The pic shows a little of my temp fix. I found a piece of dead pine tree and crammed it into the void created by no rubber bushing. And damn if it didn't work for the rest of the trip! Inspection after trip checked out ok. Will post pics of trip soon in the trips forum.Update: pics are posted in wheelin and trips forum. 14. Thanx for your input Mitch, I'm takin' it out this weekend and am gonna put it to the test!
  15. CW, what I meant was that pulling the shock boot down, I still have about 6" of upper shaft showing on the compressed side. Hope that makes sense to you.
  16. Appreciate the quick responses! Not totally dedicated wheeler,CW, but after the pics you sent to the my other thread, I was gettin' a lil' concerned. I do have to tell you that it is one climbing mammer-jammer though! Was play around out the quarry today and was pretty pleased! But to get back to the shock Q: I haven't checked, but shouldn't it compress with little or no shaft reveal?
  17. Looking for reasons why flex on front axle is not to my liking. Pictures and CW's response are in "my Project" forum under "FINALLY". I have run it back up on 18" stump, bump stops ok, but not stuffing tire into wheelwell as does the rear. Could coils be too stiff? Shock on compressed side has approx. 6-7" of shaft showing also. Could it be shock, coil or am I missin' something? As you can see, body of truc should be level, ideally. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  18. Thanx Jeepco, Next step: bumpers and sliders. Just Empty Every Pocket !!!
  19. Actually, I bought the truck as almost as you see it. The cab and engine are black 92'. All other skins are 87'. So instead of painting cab to match, I painted vents and shadowed the stripes in white to match. Liked the way it came out. Sorta stands out amungst the rest. Have only had positive comments so far.
  20. Thanxs,CW, When I get a chance, I'll run it back up on that stump and check everything while it's up in the air. Bump stops and all.
  21. Been a long road, but 2x4 is now 4x4! Checkin' out the dana 44 rear,SYE, and lockers in both 4.10 geared axles. Image Not Found Redone interior(found all black trim at JY). With a little addition to headliner and back panel that I call TED NUGENTIZED! Image Not Found Image Not Found Now, I can finish this project! Image Not Found
