  1. I'm sure the spline is different. I have a trans out of a 94 XJ with matching TC. I also have a trans out of a 95 Wrangler that is sitting on my bench ready to install when I get around to it. Some claim the Wranger is clocked different so that the TC sits higher. I've looked to compare but I cannot tell without them being side by side. If they are clocked different...........and I'm not beating the floor pan to compensate..........I will thread the holes in the trans and fill with set screws then redrill the holes to position the TC as it was. We'll see........don't know.
  2. Try it. Who knows? The world is your onion. I was pointing out you can have any 'look' you want. Torx, cap screw, button head, ........stainless.....whatever. Lowes is useless. I give up.
  3. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pinellas- ... 1895552444 Or Tri-City Nut and Bolt. You guys need to find a store like Pinellas Fastener............If it's threaded and they don't have it it does not exist. One of the things I miss about back home. Orlando will have a similar shop. Look around.
  4. Button head screws should work just fine. Match thread. Most Truevalue type stores or Fastenal.
  5. It's something else........aint' that.
  6. Only two parts I would insist on OEM is internal slave and fuel pump. Denso is an OEM supplier and can be had through NAPA. I have had no issue with BWD. Felpro gaskets. Reason for slave and fuel pump? I only what to do it once. And I would not bother with an internal slave anyway. Moog suspension/steering parts and Bilstein shocks if you can afford them. Spicer drive line parts. All else I have no problem with used.......power steering pump......axle swaps....steering gear box.....transmissions.....that type of thing.
  7. Stop going to the same store...........? ;)
  8. It's a 97+ XJ front end.
  9. It's apparently not working.
  10. Go for it. Don't like that oil gauge pegged though.
  11. There are some good deals out there.........much better than $2500 but condition is everything. I paid $2500 for mine with rebuilt engine and no rust or body damage.
  12. The shafts on the trans should be the same. Someone else should confirm this though. They are not. In order to mate the newer trans behind the older motor, you'll need the pilot bearing from a 74 CJ with a 304. Rockauto.com has them for a few bucks. As for the older trans behind the newer motor, I have no clue. I have studied the AX5...........only difference year to year is the int/ext TOB sleeve...........what about the AX15? never saw a year specific ad from rebuilders/suppliers.
  13. Vacuum can/bottle/tank/football also effects those models equipped with cruise control IIRC........not that that applies here.
  14. The shafts on the trans should be the same. Someone else should confirm this though.
  15. Scrap what I just said about the TCs..........2w to 4w.......yeah I know. You will need new DS then for each.
  16. Swap your master/slave as a complete unit with line intact.
  17. The only thing the 98 won't have is the 4x4 lever trim/indicator, everything else should swap out. Brakes will need to stay with each axle......rubber brakes line will differ also and stay with each axle.........other than that? Yokes of TC will differ to the rear drive shaft also. You'll need a new rear drive shaft for the MJ..............XJ too probably. TC will stay with each trans as splines will differ.......pretty sure of that too.
  18. :agree: Although I will add: I don't buy the pre-diluted mix (no matter what brand). I used to until a friend at the store asked me "Why are you buying water...?" Same money for half the product. To state the obvious is to insult some members here which is apparently easy.........lol
  19. I use non diluted Advanced brand............and DISTILLED water only.
  20. Agree......check your mounts.
  21. BTW your friend is correct.........they come in both rotations.
  22. Did you compare the two before you put the new one on?
  23. An oil soaked belt will do the same. It'll fool ya. Let the engine idle until it begins to squeak.........mist......not pour.......but mist the belt with water, if the squeak disappears immediately its the belt.
