Clip disintegrated :fs1: , going to buy a whole new speedo cable and go from there
-
I tried that and it only got worse!, better reverse the process

I don't think I was very clear before, the latching piece is completely detached from the actual cable.

removed the cluster, turns out the speedo cable clip is completely disconnected from the cable.... :( Can be fixed?

Upgrading to a Gauge Package W/ Column Shifter
relyt120 replied to Andy in Pa's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Turns out its not that easy. :fs1: The gauges won't go into the dummy light housing since it doesn't have the appropriate holes. So I used the new housing and drilled a hole for the prnd12 cable to go through. You'll see where the side light box is missing  so I trimmed the one I had and it will mount on its own. :wrench: This one is the dummy. This one is the 3/4. So pretty much I ended up just moving the prnd12 and the gas gauge to the new housing. I havent re-installed it in the truck yet, will post pics when complete. -

Upgrading to a Gauge Package W/ Column Shifter

its an '89. I figured that might be the case, actually may be better since I bought it not realizing the guy had separated the light box on the left and only sold me the main part...... -
Upgrading to a Gauge Package W/ Column Shifter
relyt120 replied to Andy in Pa's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Once again I'm going to post to a very old thread. I have a 3/4 cluster(guages but no tach) I want to put in my truck in place of the idiot lights that are currently installed. Only problem is that I have a column shifter and don't want to lose my prnd12, obviously. I need to know if I can remove the face of the full size gas gauge with the opening already present and transfer it and the indicator to the new 3/4 cluster without f'ing anything up and having to buy another one. I don't really want to cut a hole since I do have a gauge face that has a perfect opening in it. So what do you think, will I ruin it? :hmm: Thanks in advance for your input. -
That's awesome. no one has ever replied to me leaving them a card :(

Looks great  How much rust reformer did you have to use to cover the entire floor? cost? -
Even better, an actual user! Thanks, now if it was only provisioned for a toolbox ;)

So ive had this problem for a while but recently it has gotten worse, ive got a Strange Chugging Noise from behind the gauge cluster. I have always assumed it was the speedo-cable since i have the wandering speedo needle and everyone seems to have some type of problem with them but can't recall if anyone has mentioned this specific problem before. So basically when i am accelerating and hit about 30mph I start getting a chugging noise from somewhere in front of me presumably behind the cluster and it speeds up as the mph increases once I get to about 50mph it is gone. Then when I decelerate I get the noise even louder until I am below 20mph at which point it seems to stop. The noise progresses as the speed drops and sounds worse than a chugging and more like a senior citizen with pneumonia. Am I right to think it's the speedo cable, has anyone had this same issue? Thanks in advance for your advice.

I did not find any reviews for the Comanche one but similar models for other vehicles did have good results. knowing that it doesn't claim to fit 20 other vehicles does raise my confidence about it, and knowing that the brand is durable helps too. Thanks guys.

Turn signals are slow blinking ???
relyt120 replied to TooTall's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
For the blinking I would change the flasher, if you check out the fuse box they are the circular relays, should be 2 of them. One is the turn signals the other is the hazards, if your hazards are flashing correctly you can check if its just the flasher by switching the two and if the turn signals are better and the hazards are slow then you have your problem identified and you can buy a new flasher. that other stuff someone else can chime in on. -
Hey all, I am looking for a Tonneau Cover and I have been searching online for a new one and I have come accross this one: http://www.tonneaucoversone.com/catalog ... egory/117/ Its supposedly made for the Comanche , but I have my reservations. Has anyone ever bought one of these, and if so are they any good? thanks in advance.
