Back from the dead. th'names Colton, I'm a Canadian :) I drive an '89 MJ and love it dearly, I'm 17, I work at a call centre doing ungodly hours to pay for my jeep, if anyone'of yah call Roadrunner tech support and a young lad answers with the name colton, chances are you're talking to me. $10.50/hr ain't that bad. Ill give off a pic later tonite when I get home, I'm currently at work :) Oh, and the handle MoparRobbie is part of the fact I'm a diehard mopar fan and my middle name is Rob/Robert/Robbie.

I'm removing the airfilter box and stuffing the cone filter onto the tube. question. what causes the oil in the airfilter? I have a brand spankin' new PCV valve to put in if I need to. What I was thinking was, instead of keeping that stupid breather hose that runs from the front of the valve cover, I would cut it short and stuff a bolt in it to seal it up? I have a hankering that my piston rings are fairly worn so I'm going to do a replacement bearing/rings/crankbearings in the summertime. Will plugging that hose stop the oil loss, or will pressure just build up and shoot the bolt into oblivion through my fender?

I'm installing a p3 Dell laptop who'se case died, into the glove box on my MJ next week. it'll control my music :D

Roadrunner, the devil in disguse, I work their tier2 tech support up here in canada. if you've called Roadrunner internet tech, you may've talked to me. Do you dislike T-W, or just their broadband svc? I have had RR for several years and have had very few issues. Have also had very good tech support except for one guy who seemed to just be having a bad day. (sorry for the hijack) I work for them :) its hit and miss, RR is decent, but I see the scary side. truck-roll techs are about as brainless as some of the people taht call in. question. Dell and other companies in the US outsource tech support to india, why did TWC outsource RR techsupport to Canada?

had this happen to a '79 Grand Waggy that my neighbor owned. I fixed it in a'BOOT' 2 seconds steeltoed boots + swift kick= starting heep.

i'd ship you the stock one from my manche but it kindof uhh... decides when it wants to work or not. oh well, the xj/mj head units *should* be interchangable, if not, nothing some tin-snips wouldn't rememdy. I plan on redoing my speakers sometime soon, adding an amp and small sub. Zeppelin and Floyd are flavourless with no bass :)

I couldn't for the life of me find a CD player that fits the harness in my mj, so I stuffed the junk radio that came with it back in for show. But my truck runs nicely so its not needed for repairs :P I'm ripping a cassette/radio deck out of an XJ in a few weeks anyway.

Timewarner wireless is junk, so are the modems. mjeff87, I know. I'm 17 and I'm just glad Ive got an mj and no money, if I did, Id be drinking!

I got a list of what needed to be done, took it to my cousin, who is a licsened mechanic and he did a double check. Definately needs the work, the high price is 'cause of the per hour rate. its a good 3 days worth of work. oh well, Ive tracked down a new bed for it, in the springtime I'm throwing the new bed on it, a new motor and repainting it with new decals for the bed. Ive got a lot of plans, and getting it on the road is my first priority, nomatter what the cost it. oh, I tracked down another SWB 4cyl MJ that I can basatrdize for parts. its got the automatic, its an 87 and acctually runs, no front shocks though, so its a hella rough ride.
-
Hmmm, I'm just not seeing $800 worth of work there... :hmm: Is that for you paying someone else to do everything? yeah, it can't stay in my driveway any longer. I need it driveable ASAP. I'm still in school and working a whole lot too. I figure get them to do it and I'm set for a good while.

Failed! no lic. plate lights, no battery hold-down, no pass.side window winder handle, it has YJ stablizers and thats a no-no, manual steering box is leaking, brake lines at the master are toast, rubber line to axel is split too. and this is a lenient check! Ted (my mechanic) said that to get it all completed to *just* make it pass it'll take all that. So far, its tally'ed to around $750-800 to be completed plus the emissions test. I'm ticked, but its my own fault. Oh well. Ted did ask how much Ive paid so far, he says that getting the Jeep from where it was, to where it is now and will be in a weeks time for under $2500 is pretty damn good.

how did you find out the exact date... i bet mine is older than me too. drivers door, just inside it. there's a date out in the open month, day.
-
me too man, I went to check on her a few minutes ago acctually  My truck is acctually 3 months exactly older than me. me-Aug23'rd 89 MJ- May23-89
-
oh, will do. if she passes, comancheclub stickers are in high order. if she fails, I'm paying a mechanic to fix it all, I'm not toiling in my driveway in the rain.
-
just dropped the mj off for a safety certification and sniff test. wish me luck, she should pass no problem, but ive saved enough that if there's anything left to do, I'll get them to do it.

DONE! My '89 MJ is FINISHED! tallyed up total for parts and the original Jeep- $1143.56 pics! my instrument panel lights work, domes are come and go, same with the radio.

Please HELP!!!!

don't forget the little 2.5L. Ive seen them go through hell and back. my uncle owns a '85 XJ with a 2.5L Toronto to belleville in the middle of the day with no coolant except stale beer.(what can I say, thats what was in the back) 3 year old oil didn't help, but we made it back to Belleville with the poo-wagon and its still driving. my 2.5 is going to roll 300 thousand km's in a few months, its compeltely bone stock original, burns no oil, runs great, its tougher than balls. AMC made some mad-quality engines. -
5hrs?!?! what on earth for? and I'm proud to say that my jeep can idle that long too... cause 3 months ago it couldnt idle more than 2 minutes. 'Cause I can! <- I answer with that when someone asks me why I own a 'manche :D it wouldn't start when I got it, and had a half-tank of stale gas, so once I got it running, I proped the throttle open to about 1/4 so it wouldn't idle down and die, and burned off all that gas. Filled it with a fresh tank, full battery charge, a nice clean throttle body, new plugs wires and an oil change and she runs like new.

wow, Monday it goes for a Ontario Regulated Emissions test and safety check. Tuesday I go for plates, and may call in sick wednesday to work so I can go with my old man and get insurance for it. Finally completely finished, well ebrake needs adjustment again. pics will be coming around tomorrow afternoon.
