yeah that, its factory as its poking out of a factory-wrapped wireloom that has the penstar all over it. Little blue 30a relay, and maybe 4 inches below, stuffed in behind the e-brake pedal is a little blue module, sorta looks like a miniature tape cassette (the chime module). I yanked that stupid remote starter module out. When I get off work I'm going to see if that fixed my little irritating issue. EVERY symptom Ive had re: electrical problems can be traced to this irritating little Remote starter module. The instrument lights flashing, the solenoid click, the weird hissing/buzz sound, park lights flashing. Yeah, soon as I unplugged this module and set the kill switch to OFF all these little things stopped. My headlight/dimmer switch may be fubar'ed too. Oh, and I meant the kneeboard and bezel. Not the entire dash. I just needed at the wiring looms down below. There's also a little clear box with white gears inside, its screwed to the kneeboard. Didn't get a gooood look at it but it looks factory. Anyone know what it is?

So Ive got this stupid problem with the MJ. The DSPO had a remote starter installed alng with a always-malfunctioning Kill-Switch. Positioned wonderously beside the handbrake release. Loooooovely. seems that when all this crap started happening, I vaguely remember using the e-brake each time. bad mojo. I got down and looked at the switch. its in the middle. Not quite on, not quite off. I flick it to ON and the relay that controls the dash lights clicks. Flick it off and try to start it. Shazam. the motor roars to life. I let it run for a bit then turn it off, try to start it again. Kazzamm again. it started 3 times. I figured all was good. So I stick the hazard, park and Power Acc fuses back in and try to start the truck. No mojo. Deader than a doornail. So I fiddle with the remote starter kill switch. No dice. Ok, I'm too far in to stop. So I tore the dash off, removed the remote starter and swapped out the blue relay that controls the instrument panel lights and dimmer switch. (How do you swap those out?) Once the battery is charged in the morning I'm going to tryn' get it going. Wish me luck.

I was looking for a first-car and was working full time for the first time in my life. 4-1am, so on my day off I planned to go fishing with my dad. We drove past a neighbors house and he had his prized MJ sitting in the driveway with a for-sale sign on it. $1000 obo. Snapped it up for $500. $1000 later I had a nice MJ which is now DOA with no starter and me with no money.

I was all hell-bent to sell mine but now that I think about it. It'll be a cheap investment to renew my lic. plates and just take the insurance off the MJ. that way I can just poke at it and once I get it running, take it out to a friend's place to keep it and just go take it out once in a while. Then the transformation begins. 4.0/AX-15/242 swap :D

What did you do with the 2.5L motor and accessories. There's a guy on here that needs the 2.5L alternator specifically for a motor with air conditioning.

ironic seeing as I just bought a '91 Tempo to replace DD duties while I work on the comanche.

don't trash that plastic 'brow' people expressed their intrest in it when the other owner had it posted on here. sell it -
Yeah, little red is being hauled a hundred miles back home on the hook. Electrical gremlins are eating her. I bought a daily-driver though. 1991 Ford Tempo 2dr 4cyl. 87,000km's on it for $700. Little red is for sale though. she'll be fixed and sold. pic will come when the tow arrives.

Relay click then no start
Kenosha Warrior replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Its a little more sinister than that. Instrument panel lights, park lights. They turn on when this relay does it clicky thing. I yanked those fuses and the park lights STILL turn on when this relay clicks! the inst panel lights don't turn on. W.T.F is up. Is my headlight switch gone bad? -
Relay click then no start
Kenosha Warrior replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
arhg, arighty. oh well. I'm looking at a neon for a DD and a CJ for a wheeler. money money where art thou -
ok, today I went out to the mj, stuck the key in the ign and turned it to 'run' I cranked it and all I got was the starter solenoid click. soon as I rolled the key back to the 'lock' position to take it out. My intrument panel lights light up. I hear a relay click, the instrument panel lights light up, click again, they go off. this will happen 3 or 4 times or until I unhook the battery. I'm a good hour away from my warranty card for my crappy-tire battery. Wtf is going on. Last time this happened, I left the battery unhooked for about 15-20 mins, after I put it back on, I heard a relay go 'click, click' then the jeep started. its been unhooked for the last little while and I get the same results. Its almost as if my battery is fubar'ed.

I know this thread is from the depths of purgatory. DRLs became mandatory in 1991 -
Immediate Advice Needed!(NOW WITH PICS)

It will be plated for a few months. its going to be a dedicated trail rig but its going to get a 'warm' inspection for a few hundred. The rust is odd on it. But makes sense. It was skinned 10 years ago, where it was skinned its not rusting but the original parts are fine. the x-member above the gastank is good but to the rear of that the floor pan is rotted, the pass-rocker was never touched but the drivers rocker is toast, it was 'patched' by the shop a decade ago. All RB mounts are solid, same with the seatbelts and seatbelt mounts. My worst problem is one bodymount is on a rusty spot, which means some quick fiddling with the drill and some pieces of metal. The dude that is doing the safety will let simple crap slide. Its not anything that will be harmful for the public when I hit the road with it at the end of the summer. it'll be for fall wheeling and fishing trips back in the bush with the lady. -

I'm going to just get it road legal first and use it as a Summer cruiser. gotta borrow some cashiola from my dad. Oh well, The CJ needs a good chunk of work. floorpans are decent, DS rocker is toast, rearmost floor is toast, wheel wells are half-toast. a good chunk of sheetmetal bodywork needed, bothing that cannot be finished within a few months. -

Oh well, whats a t-case swap. Its a laredo pkg CJ7. black interior with a happy little CJ specific D-44 in the rear end :D -
So my girlfriend convinced me to leave the Willys alone 'cause the seller is a shyster and it'll sit there till the end of time, I can pick it up cheap when he really needs the money badly. I'm thinking maybe wait till september and then hand him $500 cash and tow it from there :D Anyway, Steph said, 'just look for a cheaper jeep we can wheel together' I instantly knew where there was one. The basketball teacher in my public school had an old CJ and I had seen it sitting for the last few months in his driveway. I stopped today before work and asked if he'd be interested in selling. I was met with 'You just saved me a whole lotta trouble' He was going to stick it up for $2000 obo, I'm going to offer a grand and max at $1500. its a 1986 with rotted drivers rocker and door, needs a floor patched and the throttle cable fixed (fallen off the throttle body) 4.2L w/ 351098 km's. T-5 D-300 LP 30 AMC-20 2pc rear. (possibly a D-44) Black leather seats, candy blue with 3 black tops (hard, soft and a CJ-8 top) Fairly rusty, but its managable. Something I can really have some fun with wheeling. Nice fresh 28" Goodyear tires Hopefully I can get it this weekend.

Kenosha Warrior replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in The Pub
I know the previous owners. Janitor at my old H.S Grant, the basketball teacher at my P.S He never used 4x4 and didn't know that it was missing the shaft till I pointed it out today. he's owned it for 10 years. It seems kosher enough, the front makes no noise if I spin the wheels, just the sound of pads and rotors gently rubbing. the pinion swings around as I spin the tires. Has lockout hubs, rotated them backwards, the pinion stops turning as I spin the wheels. Ill just dig up a shaft from one of the local guys. I'll prolly run without doors till the snow then drive the Comanche till I find some doors. Its got a hardtop, softop and a Scrambler's softop (rollbar to windsheild) $1000 cdn -

Heh. I fold. He won't sell this thing for $3000, so I'm going to give him his key back. Screw it, it'll sit there, Ill wait then buy it cheap. In the meantime I just went and grabbed a CJ7. 1986, 5spd! 4.2L, needs bodywork and a front D.S Question, why would one normally remove the front DS? But otherwise, its perfect for a starter wheeler, and will be an awesome driver along with the Comanche, and it'll be something for my gf to drive too. -

well, it would be a little hard to find it. Its on the corner of a minor dirt road and a major highway, yet you cannot see it from either. just the tracks. -

I know its mine... Ive got the only set of keys to it locked in the MJ. I'm trying to weedle him down. the seller is a con artist to the supreme and rips everyone off. Hes not getting $3000 out of me for this thing. He's got 2 other fish on the line right now, I'm going to call him up and risk it all, ask him to see what the other people's offers are then say $2000 cash in his hand. if he says no, Ive got a CJ (76 CJ5) lined up for purchase. That willys won't move until I buy it, I know it won't. Up here, in reyd-neyck/deliverance country, nobody will shell out $3000 for a bush buggy. And Ive told him the motor is shot and the rear end is kaput along with the frame. we shall see.
