I’m looking for an ECU for my Comanche, either 89 or 90 Renix 4.0 Automatic. I’m located in El Monte CA 91733, thank you.

Is that for your 92 Pioneer? do you know if the parts listed are compatible with the 89 model years?

89 Comanche TCU upgrade
big66440 replied to Potterman42's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You don't have to go "into the transmission" but you do have to unbolt the valve body and separate it in 2 ,it's simple but extremely messy. The instructions provided are very well detailed and show where every check valve and spring goes just in case you drop one. I was able to do it in my gravel driveway in about half a day, the biggest pain the @$$ was trying getting to some of the bolts on the oil pan because of the exhaust and dealing with the stupid 2 piece dip stick for the transmission pan. -
89 Comanche TCU upgrade

If you want to upgrade your AW4 shift points you can go with one of these https://www.summitracing.com/parts/trg-340-hd2?seid=srese1&cm_mmc=pla-google-_-shopping-_-srese1-_-transgo-performance&gclid=CNfk5ITfsdQCFU9sfgodZMUPjQ. I installed it on mine and LOVE the way it performs, kick down is more aggressive as well as shift overlap but not so much that it is uncomfortable. -
I installed the new sensor in the air box and have been driving around for 2 days and IT WORKS!!!. My intake air temp used to be within the 140-155 degree range during normal engine operating temps and now they hardly reach 100 degrees , I have noticed my throttle response is actually a little better as well. The R.E.M monitor doesn't show my O2 sensor voltage to be running rich either, if any one is interested in this mod make sure to connect the 5V reference signal from the ECM ( Terminal B on the IAT harness side) to the "purple" wire on the new sensor pigtail. I paid a total of $27.97 on Amazon for both the pig tail and the sensor . :MJ 1: . https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-213-190-Original-Equipment-Temperature/dp/B000C9IMPE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496700510&sr=8-1&keywords=B000C9IMPE https://www.amazon.com/Connector-Pigtail-Intake-Temperature-Sensor/dp/B0115H929Q/ref=pd_sim_263_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0115H929Q&pd_rd_r=BVKH7G2HKE30EV14R7S2&pd_rd_w=ut5A7&pd_rd_wg=ZOLRO&psc=1&refRID=BVKH7G2HKE30EV14R7S2

Agreed!! pulling the dashboard on these trucks is easy, you can find step by step instructions on the internet. I would suggest doing the heater core while you're at it.

Stand-Alone MJ/XJ Frame Brace?

I had a look this morning and it seems the air dam will clear the cross member if the tow hooks are not used Hornbrod. -
Stand-Alone MJ/XJ Frame Brace?
big66440 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That might just work. If you don't mount the tow hooks, will it fit behind the plastic air dam w/o cutting or trimming it? It looks like it might in the instruction manual I'm just looking to tie in the frame rails with a cross member. It's a smart and necessary thing to do, in my opinion. You are correct, it really made a difference on my truck. -

I'm just looking to tie in the frame rails with a cross member. I'll take a closer look since mine doesn't have the air dam but the instructions on their site mention you can cut a piece of the air dam to clear the tow hooks so I guess it's safe to assume the cross bar will clear. -

Dana 35 retainer pin bolt broken
big66440 replied to Alanmizzen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I agree with Hornbrod OP it would help out a lot if we knew what you were working on, I took a closer look at the pictures and it might just be a bolt in axle D35. Do you see any c clips at the end of the axle shafts? -
I think your "friend" is not really a friend,,,, just saying.

If you remove the right side " main cap" for the carrier bearing can you get a clear shot at it and drill it out? -

Very possible, my MJ has that same connector unplugged and doesn't have cruise control -
Vac Line "Where's Waldo?" Question
big66440 replied to NC Tom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It goes to the heater control valve, which has been deleted by a lot of people including myself. It's not important at all and it's another part that can fail, if you don't have it you're fine without it. -
Sorry to hear about this OP, my condolences.

Congratulations! . :MJ 1: .
