Wow, re arced, leaf added and lift shackles, I imagine you'll gain that inch plus some. Sounds like a nice truck, like to see some pics.
-
What's the difference between the 4wd and 2wd leafs?
-
Thanks, good info. I've strictly dealt with coil, linked suspension in the past so I have some learning to do regarding leaf springs. I'll start researching home brew leaf packs, I have no plans to spend $1500-2000 on a lift kit.
-
Flex is good but how is the rear traction on these things? I've seen numerous lifted leaf sprung vehicles that hop and spin while trying to climb, axle wrap seems to be an issue on some as well. How do lifted Comanche's do on leafs?
-
Why do you say that, are you talking about the limited up travel with the bed on? If that's the reason, I'll be keeping the COG as low as possible, so up travel will be on the lean side anyhow.

Thumping noise when turning to the right
foreman1063 replied to cicelyak's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just a couple of thoughts here. Check your passenger side control arm bushings. Also look at your passenger side unit bearing and u-joint(Your not inadvertently driving in 4wd are you?) Doesn't really sound like a clutch based on your description. Centering the steering wheel is accomplished by adjusting the drag link. The alignment can be fine but the wheel off centered if the drag link is not adjusted correctly. Easy to fix. Offset steering wheel....track bar.....Might want to find another mechanic. -
Roaring sound from rear axle?
foreman1063 replied to ShakeyJonez's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
$700 for a Dana 35 is crazy. If you look around in local junk yards you could find a Cherokee Dana 35 for around $100. Weld on new spring perches and your in business. Just make sure you find a donor axle that has the same gear ratio as your truck. Another option of course, is to fix the axle you have. It may be as simple as a bad wheel bearing. About $20 and two hours work. Or the problem may be R & P or bearing noise. Can you describe the noise in more detail? Is it heard under acceleration, while coasting or constantly. Narrowing this down can help diagnose if the problem is gear noise, pinion bearing or carrier bearing noise or wheel bearing noise. -
Anyone here doing it or done it? I built a double triangulated long arm, 4 link on my TJ last year and love it. Thinking I might do something similar on my 89 MJ as well. Can't seem to find much MJ specific info on rear 4 linking. Whatcha got?

I flagged it but not sure how to report I also called the number and got voicemail.

Yeah, it's a pics of my Jeep. It's actually the pic the PO had posted on a local off road board, when he had it for sale. Probably is a scam.

Rob L. :dunno: Holy crap, someone Hijacked my rig (the picture at least). Not sure if I'm flattered or pissed :???: . I think I'll reply to the CL ad and post the same pic. Thanks Rob.

1st item on the page may make your eyes pop out. I thought it was 1K for the truck but it appears that it's for the bed ONLY. http://www.daveysjeeps.com/specials.html

I'm in the same boat, got natural gas at the house but not out at the garage. I do however, have 240 vac with spare space in my panel so electric might not be such a bad option.
-
Yeah, I think it had been sitting a little while, the last registration date was late in 08. Needs a good compounding and buffing to bring the paint back but decent overall.
-
I'd be curious to know what it does to your electric bill. I'm trying to decide what type heat to put in my garage and would like to know how expensive electric heat would be. Can you keep us posted on performance and economy? Nice looking garage BTW.

......but I couldn't. Drug this home yesterday. 89 SWB, 4 banger, 4 speed, 2wd. The body and interior is in great condition, motor, not so much. It runs but makes lots of engine noise. The PO said it had been run out of oil. My plans were to do a 4.0/4wd swap and wheel it but when my wife saw it, she said she wants it for here ride. Plus, I hate to cut up and wheel the crap out of such a nice truck. So I'm now thinking I might find a low mileage 2.5 motor and just spruce it up for the misses and find a POS for me to wheel. No matter what, I couldn't pass it up for $500. When I got it home After two hours of Purple Power and scrubbing

4 to 6 Engine swap question
foreman1063 replied to foreman1063's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Got it! Picked up the 89 SWB, 4 banger today. It's in really good condition in and out(except being incredibly assnasty and a motor that sounds like it's about to come to peices). Best part is the sweet Buick steering wheel. Now the planning and work begins. Image Not Found
