  1. Yeah, I considered the opposite swap a while back, since I want a SWB. The frame and the rear axle location is different on the LWB and SWB so fabrication would be necessary( like cutting and splicing the rear frame section)
  2. I like that! :agree: I'll be here.
  3. I'll swap the motor mounts from the 94 donor or fab some, exhaust and coolant system will come from the 88 LWB.
  4. This is completely True statement If your Paying someone to do the swap if your doing the labour then this statement is false... I don't have that luxury, it will be all me and a buddy or two.
  5. Yep, computer would go with the harness. Reasonable sounding advice, that's why I asked the question. A few things to consider. I've had a hard time finding a cheap, short bed in good condition, I already have the spare 4.0 drivetrain, the 4 banger truck is supposed to be in really good shape, just dirty(find out tomorrow), if I swap the entire motor, tranny and engine harness I was hoping the swap would be straight forward. Specifically what undue complications should I expect? Thanks
  6. Cool, I'd like to see them.
  7. Not looking too promising at 13.
  8. That happens to me occasionally, only on nc4x4. I usually have to restart the computer to get it to clear. It is weird though, just one site only on my laptop.
  9. Maybe the "ugly Fords" came with the towing Package.
  10. Cool, I'll be pulling the whole drive train and harness from the 88 long bed and putting it into the 89 short bed(4 cylinder truck). Then putting the 94 HO drive train and harness into the 88. Man, I'm gonna have a busy winter.
  11. Wow, I haven't seen the Ford style either, I need to get out more. :shake: I'll be paying closer attention when I look at other peoples junk.
  12. That's what I was hoping to hear. My life just got a little easier. :jump:
  13. I know there must be plenty of info out there on the subject just can't seem to locate what I need. Swapping an 88 MJ 4.0l motor into an 89 MJ that has a 2.5l. Can I swap the entire 4.0l engine bay harness (firewall forward)to the 89 and plug it directly into the existing 2.5l dash harness? Or will the dash harness have to be swapped as well? Seems like the firewall back would be the same but :dunno: Any tech write-ups links would be appreciated. Thanks
  14. Interesting, I wonder why a few MJ's have the mirrors positioned this way. :???:
  15. Good to know. I'm interested in another MJ just like it and the owner of that one can't seem to measure either. Just sends me a pics and says see for yourself. Image Not Found Also, what's up with these mirrors, never seen side views in this position on an XJ or MJ? Image Not Found
  16. Can't get a good straight on side view but I think it is. Whatca think? Image Not Found
  17. From a picture thread somewhere on CC.
  18. Sweet, I like old school. 8)
  19. I feel a poll coming on.
  20. Cool. Just wanted to get the scoop before I drove 45 minuted to see it. Thanks
  21. I don't live in the rust belt so really never had a big problem removing mine. As as a rule though, when reinstalling I always put anti-seize on the bolts, heads and around the unit bearing surface, where it fits in the knuckle. Cheap insurance for future removals.
  22. Thanks. The 2 spoke wheel looks like it belongs on a Buick. :D
  23. Every Comanche I've seen has this steering wheel. I'm looking at one on Craigslist that the owner doesn't know anything about. From the pics I see that it has this steering wheel. I've never seen this wheel before. Does this indicate a certain year, special option or package? Thanks
  24. It was. I think you guys covered most of the movies listed Here
  25. If the heads are too rusty to get a 12 point socket or wrench on, try one of the sockets designed for damaged bolt heads. Also heat the area of the knuckle around the bolts. Heat does wonders for loosening up rusty bolts. You'll have to replace the bolts but if they're that rusty you probably should anyway.
