  1. what kinds of issues have you been having with the full gasket? I'm assuming some leaking. Also do you have the original exhaust manifold or do you have an aftermarket one?
  2. Is this the part you are referring to? https://www.moparpartsgiant.com/parts/mopar-gasket-intake-manifold~53020112.html I'll leave the gasket off the exhaust header if you are 100% positive thats what I need to do. I consider you to be the 2.5 guru.
  3. @eaglescout526 So you're saying they make a standalone intake gasket? What did you do for the exhaust gasket? Just make your own or do they have a separate one for that too? I just thought there was the full gasket.
  4. Hey my 2.5L Comanche has a pretty bad exhaust leak. I hooked up shop vac to my tail pipe and switched the vac to push out air. I immediately found lots of air wooshing out behind where the EGR tube connects to the exhaust header...so I have concluded that I need a header. I'm getting ready for a parts order. Here's what I got. Here is header I picked out, it comes with the gasket and hardware: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=292047&cc=1181472&pt=5860&jsn=13709 I am buying the Standard Motor Products 1605 Throttle Body Repair Kit. Thought this would be a great time to service the throttle body since I have to remove it from the intake manifold. I also picked out front right and front left motor mounts made by Anchor. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=315179&cc=1181472&pt=5552&jsn=13708 Can yall think of anything else I'm missing?
  5. So I ended up going to the junkyard and grabbing a master cylinder and booster out of a wrecked 2002 WJ. Also I got the guy at the junkyard to remove the original WJ brake lines. The flexible ends make them super easy to reflare and creatively bend to fit your Comanche. I re-flared the ends that connect to proportioning valve with the original ends. Had to grind a small spot on the metal lip above the booster so it would mount. Made the hole on the arm slightly larger with a 5/8 drill bit and cut a flat spot on the end to match the original to fit the original brake light switch. Bled the brake lines the old school way with hose and plastic bottle. Everything works great now. One of the best upgrades I've done. Next upgrade will be rear disc brakes.
  6. Checked vacuum, it's good. Also replaced check valve. Fairly confident my brake booster has a torn diaphragm. I get pressure when truck is off but it goes to floor and hisses when it's cranked. I guess now is a better time than ever to do an upgrade to the booster. I've never replaced booster on any of my vehicles and know little about the upgrades, so any advice is greatly appreciated. Also I have an old rusty master cylinder. Should I replace it too or keep using the original?
  7. Whats the main difference between the ZJ gearbox and the OEM MJ one? I'm looking to upgrade anything I can on my 2.5 so you have my interest.
  8. do you have the 4.0 or 2.5? I have the 2.5 and recently deleted the AC with non-AC bracket to get my truck to a functional state again. This hot @$$ weather has me considering buying all new AC parts and rebuilding it with 134a.
  9. Just recently replaced my factory tierod with the beefier RC kit. I know some of you have your opinions about RC and not using the factory steering.....but so far its been much better than what I had. Steering is tighter and feels much better. Death wobble is gone. My tie rod ball joints had gone to sh*t. My dad purchased my Comanche for me back in 2005 when I was 14 years old for $1500, and its had awful steering death wobble issues as long as I've owned it. Finally I have gained enough knowledge and money to fix these kind of things. In retrospect, I wish I would've done more homework and got the ZJ steering, because it wouldn't have required reaming the knuckles and I wouldn't have had to buy some 1.5 inch spacers to work with the factory wheels...so they don't rub the tierods ends. The only way this kit will work without the spacers is if you have at least a 3 inch lift with larger properly backspaced non-OEM wheels. I plan on doing a lift later this Summer, but at least the spacers bought me some time until I am able to purchase a lift kit and some 31's.
  10. You must have some good junkyards near you. I've struggled to find older XJ's and MJ's in junkyards near me in North Mississippi
  11. So sad to hear. Cruiser54 has helped me tremendously and I doubt my Comanche would be running today without the knowledge he passed down. I've been rebuilding my Jeep for my dad since he passed away 4 years ago. RIP. Cruiser please go find my dad in heaven. He'll tell you about all the work ive been doing on the Jeep.
  12. Saw this by the rear axle and I have no clue what it is. Need help identifying
  13. Eagle do you know if the non-ac bypass has a reverse water pump rotation or is it standard rotation compared to the ac version?
  14. I need a new water pump for my 1987 Comanche 2.5. Any particular water pump brand I should look for or are they all the same?
  15. I think I found the correct belt on Quadratec. https://www.quadratec.com/products/51213_12.htm
  16. Yea I'm definitely interested in the belts if they are for this configuration. I just ordered that pulley/bracket on eBay a few mins ago....haha only one on the internet and it was the last one. I had found one for an 86 on Facebook market..... the found this one on eBay.....and after a little more research discovered the 87-90 is different.
  17. Do you know what belt length is required? Also I've been having a tough time finding the belt diagram for the 2.5 non ac. Do you know where I could find that?
  18. Is this the bracket and pulley? Says its for 2.5 4 cyl non ac
  19. Also does anyone have a picture of an engine bay with non-AC setup?
  20. Do I need a shorter belt for that and where can I find the alternator only bracket?
  21. Trying to find a bypass pulley for an 87 Renix MJ 2.5L 4cyl is like trying to find a unicorn. Anybody know of any pulleys or know any other solutions to delete the AC?
  22. Nice! I have been pleased with mine so far.
  23. Mine did not have a bracket. All I had was a rectangle hole. I just popped it in the hole.
