Unibody - Frame repair
Spinnakerblue89 replied to SGTSnacks's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I might add that there are a number of "tutorial" vids on YouTube. I used quotations because there are different ways of going about this. Basically, if you look for Jeep XJ frame repair, you can apply what you see to the Comanche. It's actually quite a simple looking process and I have a few spots near the rear of my truck that I will be making small repairs on, myself. -
I'm goin' in deep! Lol

It certainly seems like it could be. I have to get more cutting wheels, I'm down to my last one. (I've been repairing an old Ranger simultaneous to this truck). -

I pretty much figure it'll be bit by but until I have the configuration that I want. -
Has anyone here had any experience replacing the INNER rocker panels? Mine are completely rotted out and I purchased a set from BSP along with outer rockers. What's the best way to go about this? I don't want to just get to hacking it out without checking in on here. Attached is a photo of what it looks like on the interior. Thanks.

Had a toad for a long time. I suppose that's somewhat unusual, most people go for the frogs. His name was Flip. I had a barn cat that stuck around until recently. I actually am not a cat person at all, but she caught the field mice. Yeah, yeah, I know it's not an unusual pet, but the name sure is. I named her Slim Jim.

Back in I think April or May, I purchased one of their LED blinker thingamajigs that plugs into the fuse box. I got it in fairly good time, for what it's worth.

And what supporting mods might those be? I imagine a better exhaust system form the headers down matter a lot. -

I think OC Auto Carpets had some of these, and Team Cherokee may. -

Replacement speedometer cable part number
Spinnakerblue89 replied to tdtony's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I seem to recall my speedo cable being of a similar length. I did have a plastic connector, as well. However, I do not have 4wd, so I'm not so sure my situation is very applicable. I wish I knew more. -

Fuel Tank Rollover / Vapor Valves and Seals
Spinnakerblue89 replied to Torq_Shep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Coming from the industry that produced gas tanks, I can speak fairly confidently that even today with ever-encroaching regulations and changes, ROV's, ICV's, and even modules almost never change. Seals are generally the same too across generations. As to this observation, I would be inclined to agree not having looked into the matter unless the gas tank itself has changed. It's simply not worth it to change the design of a tank just for a different deal. But as always, and I'm sure you know this, make good and sure that the seal has no debris, not even the smallest hair, because you will get an air leak. Many thanks for this information, I'm sure more people will find this useful. -

About the parking brake cable
Spinnakerblue89 replied to Spinnakerblue89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's pretty much when I ended up doing. So a little expansion: I did manage to find a small hose clamp and I used it, I can see how it will work if the one tab wasn't mess up. when I pulled it through, the one on the back was clearly mangle and bent out of shape some how. It seems I wasn't the only cat on the block who fought with it. Is there anything else I should consider doing with the assembly while I'm down there? The spring is quite rusty but everything looks fine. -

Yeah the flat head trick isn't working so well, I'm wondering if it's been tampered with because it looks gnarly. I'm such a dummy, the socket trick! Duh! I did have the notion to use a hose clamp but I don't have one that narrow anymore, my ZJ gobbled the last small one recently. JML -
I am trying to replace mine as the metal coat is very rusted and pitted in some areas, and since I still have the carpet and seats out, it just makes sense to take care of it here and now. I cannot seem to feed the old cable out through the bracket assembly. Is there a special tool required or a trick involved? It looks like there are maybe three tables that need pushed in and I'm usually decent with these sort of things but for the life of me I'm having the weirdest difficulty with this part. Also, I understand MJ parking brake assemblies are getting to be unobtainium in some parts. Are there any parts on this I should consider servicing? For the record the barking brakes did work the last time I used them. Thanks.

No pics as of right now but I'm doing a little restorative work on a vintage 1970's Glenfield-Marlin Model 60 rifle I won at a local auction. Redoing the stock, rebluing the barrel, cleaning up the action. My first passion is with gunsmithing, in second place is the Comanche, but that's mostly due to the limitations of my own abilities so far.
