  1. before everybody gets too excited I'm not sure those are ZJ springs out of a 4.0L. They were given to me as parts along with the stock lower control arms and stock shocks of a ZJ that I later parted out. Then they went through the parts pile and mixed with other springs so I could have screwed it up. I was fairly certain they were stock but huh, now I'm wondering. Is the truck sitting level in front from side to side?
  2. Well on Thursday I'm taking the MJ to a friends house and he's going to finish it in January. Plus it needs more than can be done in 5 days and I need the garage cleared. I appreciate the offer though. If you do need anything while you're up here though let me know.
  3. Well I didn't sell the manche at Cleves so now I need to pay someone else to finish it. The guy in my club who does work sold his house so has nowhere to work... I don't want to take it to the local 4 wheel parts because they don't get MJs and they'll charge me an arm and a leg (I don't trust 'em either but for no good reason- just cause they're "corporate" I guess). Anyway, I'm looking for something closer to Indianapolis than pingpong's place, or something that is at least West or South of here. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!
  4. I feel the same way about Rusty's... one of his coils sagged after one good tire stuff and the jeep was crooked, my opinion you're wasting $75 and the time to change springs. The first question is *why* is the guy selling them. It seems you can always find something bad about any manufacturer or company online, so also take these things with a grain of salt. I have some Rubicon Express 5.5" ZJ springs (that I used to replace the Rusty's) for sale for $120. They gave my XJ about 6" of lift with a heavy front bumper and winch. I know thats more $$ but you won't have to replace them. :D
  5. don't buy rusty's under any circumstances. even if the part doesn't suck the cust. service does and you'll spend more time and money chasing false tracking numbers and replacing cheap parts than you would going with the re6500 even in the first place. i've read rough country rides a little rough, but i have no personal experience with that. you should do a search on here, i know i read about RC somewhere on this board.
  6. I'll have a hood and some other stuff at Cleves OH swap meet. Lots of d30 parts and some lower control arms. I also have a d30 but it's locked and 4.10 and matches a rear that I don't want to split up, but I've got shafts and roters and stuff like that. Good luck
  7. /\ see the little button at the bottom edge || of each post that says "PROFILE"? || (follow the arrow)
  8. I've always pulled my dash bezel without dropping the column. It's a bit tight but they've always gone in and out without shattering in a million pieces (although it seems they should). Nothing but the bezel should be an issue as far down as I've ever gone.
  9. That's logic like "the last place you look is always where you find it." It's when you start replying to and quoting your own posts immediately that you should start to worry.
  10. My G*d, I'd be locking up the rear all the time. SLAM! EEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRTTTT! I have enough trouble switching to my wifes auto XJ and catching the corner of the brake pedal with my left foot as I'm cramming down as if were a stick.
  11. floorboards...can't stress it enough, the carpet is really thick and can hide big problems. usually just outside the frame rail goes first on the driver's side, you probably have to look under the truck to tell.
  12. The 5 speed off a 4 banger could be an AX 5 which should swap onto a 2.8L... I just did the opposite, took a 2.8L Ax5 and put it on my 2.5L. You could also look for a stick already behind a 2.8L, but if you're dreaming dream of a full 4.0L swap... Or you can buy mine and take the 5 speed and Atlas II for your truck. I'll make you a deal on axles too! Cheers, Jeremiah
  13. D - How about like this? Or would "Got Mud? What?!? Get mud on my nice clean sticker?" be better?

    new MJ

Awesome - hope you're not having bidder's remorse (I always get that from eBay) ... how bout a photo?
  15. I think that's spam not hacking...
  16. Actually I guess I did roll the window up and shut the door maybe... it looks more like a mirror adjustment cable or something... am I going to notice if it's the window regulator track thingie?
  17. Today I pushed my MJ project into the sunlight for the first time in a long time. The front axle is 2wd but it's sportin an Atlas. If it doesn't sell at Cleves I'm planning to throw it on a trailer and drag it to Phoenix like this: And I thought it just had cancer, now I find a TAPE WORM!! And look, when I was making this blow up I noticed it wasn't there in the first pic... this "fell" out literally while I was walking around taking pics!
  18. If you're doing an AX15 swap I assume you have the AX5 or pugeot, either way your tcase will have different spline count (I think 21 for the AX5 and 23 for the AX15?) anyway the gist is you should get a tcase along with the transmission, not the front axel. There's nothing different about a high pinion 30 without a vaccum disco and your stock d30 except for the lack of the vaccum casing on the axle...in other words it will fit you driveshaft and current tcase exactly the same way.
  19. Just pull the cover and slide the fork over and put a hose clamp on the shaft. Works like a charm. Of course I disco'd the hoses and plugged them with screws and blue RTV because they didn't reach well anyway. I think I capped the axle ones with little random rubber caps. Or you can buy my used posilock... :D
  20. That was exactly my experience. Removing the rocking chair part was way overboard, plus the mounts wouldn't line up then... no more easy. So I'm still looking for stock MJ buckets... maybe one of you shrimpkins would trade me for the XJ buckets and MJ brackets so you could see over the hood? And I'm 6' even (not "ish".. what's that like 5'10.2" ?? :nanner: )
  21. sure sure, i'm too lazy to cross post. but I should have used this one:
  22. I need to start going to church!
  23. I successfully installed an 86 XJ curved bucket in my MJ's driver side using the driver side MJ bench seat mounts original to the 88 MJ I was putting them in. Everything was perfect except my head touched the ceiling. See more info here: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=924251 About 1/2 way down the first page you can see pics of my truck with seats and brackets marked. I have a box with the bench mounts if you need photos or measurements just ask.
  24. My goal is to get this rolling so I can put it on a trailer and take it to Cleves. It's a 2.5L/Ax-5/Atlas II with 155K and the stock 2wd axles. I'm working on 9+ inches in the front and haven't started on the back yet. I have all the interior components except the carpets and seats. I want to see what you guys think of how the project is going, should I sell at all, what price should I look for (I'm thinking of asking $2800 based on the Atlas II and the 8" Skyjacker components), and of course if anyone here is interested before I drag it off to a bunch of strangers. I'm selling because I'm moving to Arizona this winter and it really doesn't make sense to drag an Indiana rust bucket out there. When is 8" enough? Twin sticking... The cross-member needs a little modding. Don't get excited there's a 1 under the needle. The bed is good inside but has small problems outside, including the usual above the fender problems.
  25. Most people hang out in the big mud pit, but the ATV trails have widened so if you're into trail riding there is a lot to do. The last time I was there is was super dry. Here are some other club trips there over the last few years: http://www.jpfrog.org/modules.php?set_albumName=album15&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php http://www.jpfrog.org/modules.php?set_albumName=030524&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php http://www.jpfrog.org/modules.php?set_albumName=020202&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php
