now I already have the D44. If I don't plan on really rock crawling, will I need the Disc rear?? Should I just keep the D44 I have and rebuild it accordingly?
-
what's a good price for a d44 with 4.10's?? like 200 Canuck?
-
I think you should finish it one day when you get a chance...and should make it a sticky. i never fully have the time to glance waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back down the tech articles just to see what has been written...kinda why I fell like a jerk for asking so many questions be4 without having read this first lol!
-
are 8.8's cheaper to build? D44 with 4.10's easy to sell?
-
I plan on doing mostly trails mud, san dune. Not really into actual rock climbing, but might run some very very small ones up in Norhtern Ontario. So far I, I want to switch over to auto, upgrade transfer case, D44 rear, engage.diengage locker, 4.56 front anf rear, 33 inch tires, 6 inch lift (long arm mostly because I prefer the look). aftermarket bumpers, roll bar, lights etc. lotsa little stuff. I will also have to do a 4X4 conversion, so if I can find a XJ with a d44, i'm guessing that will be a better go because I will SOA the rear n e way. That's it in a basic nutshell... Biggest problem I think I am having (unless everyone can see problems I am going to run into) is that I'm not sure on what manufacturere to buy all my junk from. I've had bad luck buying used parts to actually use in the past...so I am more then likely going to buy most of the stuff used. Only thinkg in concrete right now are TrXus 33 inch tires, with the rims I choose (i forget what they are called)
-
this just clarrified a lot of my "babyISH" questions...gave me good insihgt on what I was getting into. WIll have a lot more questions, but will get into them later once I start to really get into the build.

looks great. hopefully when I restore the one after my current build, it will turn out as good as yous did -
for sure. I am going to be lifting this winter probably, so I still have a ton of time to search. But at the same time, I want to do all my other mods first
-
holy moly.....
-
stars and stripes??? how bout some red white and leafs as well lol The company I used to work for has a decal machine and they would more then likely let me use it to make some stuff to try out if you need the help. They are used to run on the side of trailers...any colour any thickness, as long as they are not too complicated
-
ur not wrong...just being innovative. lol The good hting is, you have knowledge to make sound decisions off of. I still am completely confused as to "why" certain lift kits are better then others. not sure what I should be looking for
-
I probably shoul dhave assumed. lol I still trying to learn the ropes That XJ book should be at my doorstep any day now, hopefully that will put me on the same page as everyone
-
That with SOA? Or am I missing something??
-
I know. I will sell of the XJ leaf pack, and have sutom leafs made. Or I should be able to SOA, and that should bring me close to level...might need just a little bit inthe rear but maybe an inch to an inch and a half...
-
did u buy that one out of the trader???? I think that's the same one I talked to the guy about
-
where can i find the best price for the full traction 6 inch XJ lift. I think that's the kit i'm going to run on my MJ.
-
can you heat and cool? i've heated them up and then sprayed them with a hose to cool it quicikly, and then usually breaks them loose

What type of shocks do you like?

My Comanche buildup, 4.0L swap
sinnaevd replied to commando14's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
i like this article on it, i thought it explained the steps fairly well. Probably going to follow these instructions when I do it on my manche. Other then the lift, is the other purpose to stop binding of the axle as stated above? http://www.jeeptech.com/susp/elliptical.html how much lift does the 3/4 give a manche? anyone know a rough estimate? -
I uess that's a benifit of going classic befr jeeps. hopefully with the sale of the charge I will have enough to do all major costly mods all at once, and then fab like crazy once the lift/axles/engine is done. but be proud of always fabbing. your lucky to be good at it becyz i know i am awful...but love to do it lol
-
no problem. I hope its a great book. looks like it will be, judging by the review thingy written
-
here it is for anyone interested. I bought it simply because I am jsut starting out and have quite a few questions about everything lol. I will let everyone know how it is once I recieve it next week http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=br_ ... ders+guide

absolutally. like i said I have an HO and a regular 4.0 (ho from a 91 with completel wiring..actually complete truck and an 4.0 from an 89) I also have a complete 4.2L with wiring harness. So I will have all of the basic parts I need, and I know I could do it...just really not sure at what I'm looking at. I will definately read more about them, but those sites everyone posted were extremely helpful, so that's to everyone for their input. I will probably build it next summer. Want to be able to drive the manche first befor I start dumping money into an engine upgrade like that
