I checked that out and it holds vacuum. There is a lever underneath it you can push in.
-
Interesting. I will check it out. Thanks

Is there a way to test that valve? It blows pretty warm air but I think it should be hotter.
-
Is there a certain type of coolant to add and how much?
-
Hey guys, I just got my heater core replaced and while the heat gets warm I would think it should cook me out of that little truck. Is there anyway to get warmer air in these things? Everything is new. New radiator, evap coil, water pump, thermostat(I’m guessing 180 but idk). Thanks in advance. 87, 4.0

My 87 has the small plug as well -
Thanks Cruiser, I will add it to my list of to dos on the beast. If it’s not one thing it’s another. LOL

Whitaker717 replied to cruiser54's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have an 87 and been thinking of doing this upgrade. I have the 4.0, what size should I get? 58 or 60mm? Plug and play I am assuming? -
Wouldn’t the turn signal not work at all? Everything works fine but just when I pull out the headlight knob the arrow stays lit
-
Yes they work properly.

Hey guys, just go the beast back and I have been fighting a bit of a turn signal gremlin. Turn signal works just fine, but when I turn on my lights, my green arrow stays lit. Turn them off, it goes away. I’m guessing it’s a wiring issue or something. I haven’t had a chance to take anything apart yet so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Evaporator coil help
Whitaker717 replied to Whitaker717's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I actually bought the four seasons one from Rock auto and it fit right in the box. This one would require box modification. -
Hi guys, my guy that works in my Comanche is in the process of replacing my evaporator coil and is running into an issue. We have purchased 2 new evaporator coils ( one from rock auto and one from somewhere else) and he says the lines don’t fit right in the box. Can anyone tell me where I can get one like an oem style. He was saying something to me about the new lines are straight up and down and the oem style has one at a 45 or something. Can guys chime in on any suggestions or where I can get a coil for an 87 4x4 4.0. Thanks guys I appreciate any feedback and help. I posted a couple pictures of what he is dealing with.

I did. Just the bondo step 2 I believe. I had some spots that just kept cracking when I was routering it.
-
Thank you! It turned out pretty well for a guy who has never done something like that before. Lol

I just finished up semi refinishing my dash. I say semi because I am not a body guy and it’s not perfect. It did turn out great though. I am having the heater core and evap coil replaced so I thought I would try to fix some cracks while it’s out and truck is in the shop. Started with my dremel and slowly drilled out all the cracks I had. My biggest problem with that was my depth consistency. Some places I went a bit too deep I feel. Once I got that where I wanted it, it was time to start layering bondo. After quite a few layers, sanding with an 80 grit in between it was finally getting pretty smooth again. I finally got it all filled and sanded to my liking. I did have a few bondo pit holes I just couldn’t get rid of. Albeit small. After that I lightly sanded the entire dash and sides to help primer adhere a bit better. I primed it and let it sit for a few hours. Came back a few hours later and painted my first coat of SEM Palamino paint. As you can see from the pictures it is a bit lighter than I really wanted. I could have probably used the camel color in my truck. A couple coats later and I was all done. I went ahead and painted inside the storage area by the glovebox too. I was also able to paint my vent trim piece, my kick plates, and the dash valance or whatever it is called, and the glovebox. At least it will all match. I will probably do the pillar pieces too when I get it back. Any questions just ask. It was pretty time consuming but no more cracks. Hopefully the paint holds up for a few years anyway. The last picture shows the color difference of what mine looked like to the Palomino color. Hope that helps. Enjoy!

Tonneau Cover-- Tri-Fold or Roll-Up
Whitaker717 replied to Comancheese's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am looking at a 6’ roll up. Of course I have a sports bar so mine will have to be modified. I had a roll up in my last truck and that’s all I will ever buy. -
Hi guys, still looking for a tonneau cover for my 87 shortbed. I do have a sports bar, so I would have to have someone modify it for me. Been looking forever it seems like. Thanks
-
Thank you guys I will give this a try.
-
You have a schematic on which bolts they are? They supposed to be a certain torque spec Cruiser?
-
Thanks Cruiser I will give them a good cleaning

Hi guys, I seem to be getting a gremlin in the Comanche. Truck starts and runs fine, but here lately after I start it and start moving it will quietly die. I have to throw it in park and it fires back up then runs fine. What in the world could be going on? I’m guessing a fuel issue somehow. Either fuel pump is having issues or maybe the fuel filter but I don’t know. Any input would be appreciated. I have an 87 4.0.
