  1. I went out playing as well. Got the truck minimally dirty, but got pics when I got back home. Sorry for the really bright pics, but I oly got a crappy cheap digi cam, so it doesnt know any better, these 2 are the only pics that turned out even remotely visible.
  2. Looks good Alex, I still think I shoulda stashed the rollbar, although it's a SWB one, so it wouldnt work. The 86's grille looks good on there.
  3. Unless WI changed the laws, you should be able to get a clear title no problem. I had this happen to me about 5 years ago when I bought my 86 Cougar; it didn't come with a title, and the guy I bought it from didn't get one when he bought it either. All I did was go to the DMV as stated, and they checked my bill of sale, and ran the previous owners' names, and found that it was all clear, so I was issued a clear title on the spot. Hope this helps some.
  4. Yep, as the new title implies, my '86 is back and running. It turns out that there were a lot of loose parts and bare wires under the hood. The ignition coil was also bad and has been replaced as well as a new distributor, plugs and wires. She's gonna be delivered to me tomorrow, 1/10 :jump:  :driving:
  5. Thanks guys, I honestly didn't think that anyone else really had ever heard of it before. I too have lost people I knew from it, so I'm just living one day at a time, and trying to make the most of each day I'm here. I'd been trying to think of a way to let everyone here know about it, and then this popped up, and I just jumped in and brought it up. But I too agree that the lazy ones that CAN work but choose not to should be dragged out into the street and beat with a stick.
  6. Well, then I gues I should be saying sorry? I happen to be one of those "slobs that don't work and live off the rest of you guys" although it's not technically my fault. Not many people know, but I have a genetic disorder known as Cystic Fibrosis that affects my respiritory, digestive and immune systems. My doctor told me when I was 6 that I wouldn't live to be 18 (I'm 25 now). So, I can't work because it would do more damage than anything. BTW, congrats Oiz on officially owning your truck.
  7. Well, just a lil update. I just heard from the guy I'm having work on it, and he said he got it to run today but it died shortly after. He had to play with the timing to get it to even start and then when he tried to advance/retard it back to where it should be it died again. Also, he is going to be taking all the pollution control crap off of it, as (IIRC) it's not really needed. He also said that the distributor and a lot of other key things were very loose under the hood, and tightened them down to what the chilton's recommended. So far his thinking is that I just got some bad gas, like from a mislabeled E85 pump, although I still haven't seen an E85 pump around here. So for now anyways the mystery stays just that, a mystery as to why it's not running right.
  8. Just a couple of "4 wheel drives" and one Jeep
  9. Well, just went out and picked up the truck from where it was sitting, so as I'm writing this it's on it's way to the shop. I took a look underneath and the glasspacks and the rest of the exhaust looks good still, so it didn't blow out. On order is a new set of plugs, wires, cap and rotor, as well as a good oil changing. I was already planning on doing the plugs, wires, cap and rotor this month anyways, so now it's gonna get done no matter what, as when I went to pull one of the plug wires off to check for spark, the metal piece that holds the wire to the plug decided to stay on the plug and all I got was an empty boot. I will find out what all is wrong with it tomorrow after it gets looked at. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. I'll keep you all posted.
  10. Well, it's got it's own kind of "self changing oil" via a leaky rear main seal, but as soon as I get it back here, I will definitely be getting the old oil out. As for the unburned gas hitting the catalyst in the cats, I uh kinda don't have any on it. I still haven't had a chance to put the cats on since I bought it from Alex (GIRsMJ86) so everything is just as he had it. Yes, it is an '86 X 4wd with the 2.8L V6 that has been bored out to a 3.2L. I asked a couple of my friends that know more than I do about carbed motors and they too mentioned the possibility of the choke sticking open, they also all seemed to think that there is a possibility that one of the head gaskets was going bad to begin with and the combination of the bad head gasket and the choke stuck open caused an explosion inside the motor that just resonated through the tails. As a result they also seem to think that I may have cracked one of the heads. Does any of this sound logical/possible? I took a closer look at it this morning and I also know for a fact that I must have had flames out the pipes because the comanche club sticker is on the bumper on the left side and it has part of it burnt off and has carbon buildup around it. Hope this bit of info I forgot to metion in the first post helps to better diagnose this.
  11. Well, I went to go pick up a friend last night (before drinking) and when I went to go fire the truck up to let it warm up, it acted like it didn't want to start. Finally after almost 10 minutes of monkeying around with it, I finally just put the gas pedal to the floor and it started to start, so I tried it again and it finally started. On the way there the truck was running real bad, coughing, sputtering and almost died a couple times. On the way back from picking him up, I got to a stop sign and started to take off, I got up to about 45 mph and all I hear is a big BANG from out the tailpipes, and the truck just died. Tried to restart and no go. Pulled off on the side of the raod to take a look under the hood, and all we smelled was gas. Upon further investigation I come to find out that there is also gas in the oil because the dipstick smelt more like gas than the carb did. Any ideas on what could be going on here? I just had the fuel pump and filter changed out less than 3 months ago, and I think I'm looking at a lot more money to fix this problem. Please help me out as I now have no vehicle to drive.
  12. If you're looking for one, I got one that I'm more than willing to part with. Where are you located?
  13. Sorry for stealing your pic and all, but I think ya should go with something more like this. It's essentially the plan I had for my '88 back in the day when I was actually going to drop it.
  14. If not, we should all go and shoot the editors............or at least drag them out into the street and beat them with a stick.
  15. In light of the quickly upcoming holiday, I thought it would be fun to write my own little song about my comanche. Now, I'm sure we've all heard the "rusty chevrolet" song, well this is along those lines. Sorry, you gotta remember the music to it all on your own. But, without further ado, here goes. Dashing through the snow, in my good old Jeep MJ Down the road I go, sideways all the way I need a rear main seal I'd like some 32 inch tires I wouldn't mind if it sat just a little higher No rust, some smoke, cause the seal is broke The oil just drips away I stomp the gas, to try to pass, and then I start to pray The front plate is bent, the floor is wet, the radio's MIA Oh what fun it is to drive this good old Jeep MJ I went to the liquor store, to pick up a case of beer The backend just passed up the left front tire, it's time to counter-steer Sideways down the highway, right past a local cop I had to let off the brake, to get the truck to stop No rust, some smoke, cause the seal is broke The oil just drips away I stomp the gas, to try to pass, and then I start to pray The front plate is bent, the floor is wet, the radio's MIA Oh what fun it is to drive this good old Jeep MJ On my way to AutoZone, to pick up some parts today Because Project X is coming soon, so stay tuned for new updates Oh, thank you GIRs, this heater works The grille is still MIA I stomp the gas, to try to pass, and then I start to pray The front plate is bent, the floor is wet, the radio's MIA Oh what fun it is to drive this good old Jeep MJ Well, there ya have it folks, my rendition of rusty chevrolet, what ya think? I think this is what happens when I need sleep, I think too much and do crazy things.
  16. Oizarod115, if you want to wait until lower jeep has his installed and has measurements to see if that's what you're looking for, that's fine by me. I wouldn't be able to get to my car for a few weeks or so anyways, as I have it for sale as a whole locally (doubtful anyone will buy it) and wouldn't really wanna rip into it and then have someone interested in it. Either way, just PM an offer, and I'll look into shipping on monday. lower jeep, sorry for the temporary
  17. Not bad, not bad at all, in fact I'd say it's looking hella good. Bad joke, I know, but, I had to.
  18. That is true, I think I sat down one day and added everything up when I was thinking of doing almost the same thing to my '88, and I came up with an estimate of around $50,000 for my ideas. Still think your's looks BA the way it is, so just a question, why not leave it as it is?
  19. Yea, that is very true. Something that I neglected to think of back in the day. But like I mentioned, if it's any consolation, mine is still going stong and not leaking. I also ran a bead of gasket sealer on both sides of the gasket though, so that might be the only thing keeping mine from leaking. Hopefully someone with more knowledge here than I have can help us both out.
  20. Looks like I'm a little late on this post. I was gonna say that I happen to have an '86 cougar that I'm willing to part out that originally had a V6 in it.
  21. You mean to tell me that there's torque specs for the water pump? When I changed mine on my '88 a few years back I just tightened them as tight as I could with a short handled rachet, and it still works good for me. I doubt this helps you any, sorry I don't know more, I'm still in the learning stage of these trucks.
  22. Allow me to be the first to say DANG! That is awesome, kinda what I was hoping my '88 would look like, cept full body blue with ghost flames.
  23. OUCH! That's gotta suck, looks like it was in good condition too.
  24. Nope, thay jus fokiss on uthur baseiks. Eye lernt all I need to from skul. On a more serious note, that suspension is very scary, I don't think even I would trust it. And that's saying a lot.
  25. Looks like it's off to an amazing start, can't wait to see it all done. I too am thinking of lifting my 86, so I'll be watching this one closely.
