it has the comanche badges on the doors. i kept my 86 ones and they are going on as soon as it gets here. i like the cap letters better, more bold looking for a truck. i also have the 4.0 badge and command-trac badge to put on it. along with my 2 trail-rated badges. oh and the 4x4 ones too. lol. Alex Yep, I have a naked MJ, the only badging I have is on the header panel.

Indy 4x4 Jamboree- NEW POLICIES ON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
beaterjeep replied to 89Tonto's topic in The Pub
Well, I'm gonna have to be a no go/no show. I'm leaving early thursday morning for mchenry,IL, and then be headed off towards bucyrus, OH. I probably won't make it back home until late friday night. -
I'll look into the choke possibility when I take it in to get the rear main done. As for if/when I do the TPI swap it won't be for about a year or so anyways, because for one, yea sure crapmaro's and fireturd's are overly abundant around me, but they've all been modded to the hilt and all have V8's in them, so finding one will be a challenge. For two, I'm still trying to sell my 86 merc cougar with no success to pay back my mom's boyfriend for borrowing me the money for the 86. And lastly, I'm going to be moving next month, so I get to pay security deposit/first month rent........ all the usuals that are associated with living on your own.

In almost any case your better off buying the entire vehicle, just in case you find out you need other parts. Plus when buying the entire vehicle, you have left over stuff to re-sell and make some money back with.

I had a grant wheel in my (don't laugh) 94 chevy cavalier wagon, pretty easy install like said, just get a steering wheel puller, undo the old wheel and take it off, put the adapter on and then the new wheel.

Maybe if I knew what I was doing and could find one dirt cheap, I might think about it, but for the time being, this will work fine.

Ah, I see now, thanks pete now I know. I guess that's part of the reason I'm here, to learn new things.

Help - Bad Shimmy, Running Warm
beaterjeep replied to Rundel's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
To tell you the truth, I still don't have a clue as to what mine is from. All I know is that when I took it back to another shop, they told me the only things that were replaced were the tracbar and the inner tie rod ends, NOTHING ELSE. The guy that originally "fixed" it charged me over $800 for it, and is now out of business and in court proceedings because he was an ASE certified mechanic working out of his garage. Yay me, as I'm the one that took him there. -
Help - Bad Shimmy, Running Warm
beaterjeep replied to Rundel's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:agree: My 88 had the same problem until I took it to a shop about a year ago. Although the shop I took mine to was run by an imbecile and screwed me over and about 3 months ago it started again. Come to find out the guy only replaced two parts that weren't even part of the problem. Take it to a reputable shop in your area, or if you have the expertise, do it yourself, and make sure it's done right. -
Got the MJ bumper started..finally hehe

 MMMM, metal working. Watch out though, trust me, the edges can get sharp. My hands are quite scarred from metal working. -
It may just be me, but I'd truthfully go with a 9" rear. I haven't heard hardly any horror stories from them.
-
Oh, sure, I see what you're trying to do to me. JK, although it would be help to know exactly what is wrong with it, for the time being, about 90% of the trips I make are right about half hour, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem yet. Any help would be appreciated though.

When is this going on, and bluecomanche, where in WI do you live? If your anywhere close to me and this is going on at a time I have enough money to go, maybe we can meet up and have a comanche in the group. -
Ah, some people's kids these days. Thankfully though it doesn't look like he was able to get everyone's info.

This is what a 350 looks like in a comanche.
beaterjeep replied to possum's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
hey anything under the hood looks good as long as you keep them clean and neat. but anything under the hood has to be better then a certain V6 AMC used in the 80s. lol. na it does really well for me but i like any big engine in an MJ. if i can ever find a running Jeep 401 i am going to put in one someday. Alex Gee thanks. LOL. A 401 in a MJ, now there's something I'd like to see. Wasn't there someone here that was doing or has a dodge 360 in one? Or was that somewhere else I remember seeing it? Man my memory is bad these days. -

Showoff! :rotf: :laughin: Just kidding man, they both look real good to me. -
Very nice looking, I was actually thinking of a similar direction with my 88, but money was tight and I'm now buying an 86 4wd, so maybe one of these decades I'll be able to.

HHHMMM, and to think I switched my avatar from the "I ride the short bus" to this one. NO it wasn't me, I don't have that much computer knowledge, plus I'm not dumb enough to do that to you all.
-
Wish I would've known that now, oh well too late, I should be getting mine either today or tomorrow, so I'll let everyone know.
-
Wow man, that sucks, I've had it happen before too. Although at the time I didn't have any sort of surge preotector, and fried everything inside. Had to get a whole new computer, and surge preotectors of course.

I'm no MJ history expert, but I do believe that 31 was the other MJ's number, so it was a way of signifying that they were teammates. Hopefully someone who actually knows what their talking about will chime in and give the real reason.

How to tell if Comanche has Limited Slip / Posi?
beaterjeep replied to Swanny's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You have to work pretty hard to get these things stuck, even with only 2wd, trust me I've been through mud holes and creeks where some of my friends couldn't in their jacked up chevs and fords. Although if it's a manual trans, during winter be careful that you don't accidentally downshift when you want to upshift, the tail end tends to get away from ya. :fool: -
Question on switches and gauge thingy
beaterjeep replied to feerocknok's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
girsmj86 is going to be getting one of them when he picks up his eliminator from rob. Yea, it is pretty cool, tells you almost everything ya need to know. -
Good to see ya back, and I don't blame ya for not posting since. That's just tragic, sorry to hear that, but like I was told by friends when my best friend since childhood passed, "Keep your head up and try to think about all the good times you had together." It's rough, but you wil get through it.
