  1. No so much building but the engine bay got a bath today. Removed years Worth of caked on oil and grime and lots of pine straw. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
  2. Not sure. This is what I have Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
  3. I'm gonna jump in and ask a related question. On the passenger side. All those relays and wire connections, is there supposed to be a cover or box of some kind they go in? Mine are all just flopping around Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
  4. So mine is shot. And nobody has one long enough. Where can I find one in decent shape? Not too sure a junkyard is a good part fit here. It's an age thing. 89 4.0L Eliminator Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
  5. We owned a brand new 89 Eliminator back in 1989. It did not come with a roll bar. My dad obtained and modified one from A Ford F150. I'm currently looking for one for my current 89 Eliminator. I think I'm going to end up having one custom made. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
  6. I'm new here but get a job either on a tugboat on the coast of a towboat on the inland rivers. Blue water pays a lot more. We are screaming for people. No experience necessary. Just need a Merchant Mariners credential (issued by USCG) and a TWIC(issued by Tsa) and pass a drug test (weed ain't legal out here) Start off as an ordinary seaman deck hand at 45k, 60 is possible with overtime. Entry level job you have to start there. Work at it and Get an engineer's license (what I have) 6 figures is possible with in 5 years. Wheelhouse takes longer lots more stress but even more money. It's a great job. I've been paid to travel the world. I work an even schedule. Most inland companies work 2 for 1 (14 days on 7 off or similar) I'm currently on a 21 day on 21 day off schedule. Working in LA. I live in NC. Worst part of job....you're gone with extremely limited contact with home. it's hard especially with kids. you will miss birthdays deaths and other life events. Best part of the job....I got 21 days off to do whatever I want, took my kid in an 11 day road trip across the country last summer. We've been scuba diving all over the US and the Bahamas. I basically work 6 months a year. We have people from all walks of life doing this. Farmers, fishermen, insurance salesmen, one guy used to work on airplanes for Delta. We even have one of our former female secretaries out on the tugs now. Guarantee you it's a 180 from your current job but you'll still get to use you hands on skills.
  7. Right now I'm keeping it original and just driving it. But if it ever let's go all bets are off including a 4wd conversion. I do plan to get it muddy but nothing hard core like Moab offers.
  8. Missed it by Thaaaattt much! My build date is March 6. 108 k miles on it. When I can I expect it to explode?
  9. I've always been partial to red. But then again I drive a big red truck and run into burning buildings for fun.
  10. They've already said it. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  11. Plans are flexible. New tires, MAYBE the Eliminator rims if I can find them. Stick the Eliminator decals back on (possibly repaint). I want to paint the JEEP on the tailgate. Install a front bumper capable of holding a winch so I can do some off-road even in 2wd. And quite possibly a roll bar with some old skool KC lites (or modern LED equivalents). The whole 80s vibe. Just like the one my Dad had when I was 17. Plans could definitely change but that's how I'm leaning now. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  12. Good looking rig. Where did you get the rollbar? I want to rock that 80s look. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  13. I can't tell you much on this Jeep as I'm a new Jeep owner. But I can tell take care of it and try to keep it. Your first car will always be your first love. 30 years from now you'll wish you had that heap of spare parts. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  14. Having internet issues. Pictures didn't load in the original post. These are the first two weeks I've owned it. Basically just cleaning it up a bit. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  15. I stumbled across this a few weeks ago. I am not a Jeep guy but I work with several fanatics. They are always talking Jeep and everybody seems to be on the look out for one of these. Price was right. Now what do I do? I'm more of a restorer, I just finished a 99 suburban back to factory. But this is Jeep. Mods are the norm. But this thing is in such great factory shape I hesitate to change it. All my buddies are telling me lift it and 4 wheel drive conversion. If the body needed work or a new interior, etc I would convert it. But it's such good factory shape. It has survived. I hate to change that. This seems to be turning into a family project as my Dad has had it more than I have. He has polished it, found and fixed some electrical issues, got one door realigned and messed with the weather stripping to alleviate wind noise. If I ever get home, I'm going to detail the engine bay and get the AC working again (hope it's just coolant). After that, who knows???? Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  16. I'm still learning this forum. Figured I had posted this in the wrong spot after some looking around. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  17. Sean New Bern, NC 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd Just bought it, not a Jeep guy (yet). Don't know a whole lot about it just lurking around for info. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  18. My Dad bringing the original paint back to life. He tells me it looks great from 25'. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  19. That's great info!! Thanks a lot. Except for the added AC, this Jeep is exactly like the one my Dad had when I was learning how drive. That's why I bought it. It was an Eliminator but with different rims. Gonna double check the tranny as I have found out the slight visual differences. However I'm currently out of state, so it will be a bit before I can do that. It's just as fun to drive now as it was 30 years ago. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  20. The story I got was it was garage kept by the original owner til last year. I'm the third owner. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  21. Pics Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  22. Bought 89 Comanche. No rust anywhere. 108k miles. 4.0 engine. 2wd, 5 speed. Immaculate interior. I think it's an Eliminator, but not sure what makes it one. No decals or evidence it had them. Also is it the Peugot tranny or Asin?
