  1. Probably the rims I got put on a few months ago. After a wash, they're the most obvious thing standing out on my truck.
  2. Added some shine to the truck (day before yesterday). Doing a rear diff. flush today with a buddy of mine. If all goes well, should be heading to the junkyard this weekend.
  3. I know... I know. I'm actually trying to find the the dern ones you sent me a while back. Seems they've grown legs and walked out from where I've been keeping them. :fs1:
  4. Met the mother and grandmother of a kid with an 88 shortbed today when I left my local H&R Block. The mom was a real nice lady and happened to park next to my Jeep. When I came out, she pointed over to my Jeep and said "Look at that mom! Another Comanche!" and so they went over and started looking at it. Went over and started talking with her, getting the skinny on her sons 88 and telling her about my 87. She told me that he had a leaking Master Cylinder, and I told her to get that fixed ASAP, lest he wants to deal with replacing a melted fuse box. Following Pete's advice, I told her to tell him to "Pull the carpet and check for rust, before it's too late." All in all, it was a pretty cool meeting. Unfortunately, I didn't have a club card on me to give her. :( Oh well.
  5. There are several car shows around my area. One is the 2nd Sat/Sun of every month in Mt. Dora; the other (that I'm going to attend) is every Sunday in Eustis. Pretty good turnout every time. The bigger one is the 2nd sunday one, because it's tacked together with a classic guitar show.
  6. Forgot there is a "technical" term for a "Classic" car. I've met quite a few people who don't believe that 80's cars are classic cars though. Yeah, I gotta finish painting a few primer spots to make it look like the color is "all there", if you catch my drift. Unfortunately, I doubt a buff job is in the works. I'll probably give the old girl some tire shine though  Guess there's hope for me then :clapping:
  7. Since I haven't updated my build in what seems like forever, I'll throw a couple of pics up here to show some progress. It may not look it, but there's a lot of work that's been done since my last update. I will be attending the monthly car show (next town over) at the end of Feb. with a buddy of mine and his 66 Fleetside C-10. Not trying to win any awards, but we're showing up to prove a point to some of the people who enter cars there. It's a CLASSIC car show, so why there are cars like an 05 Chevy Aveo, 2008 Mustang GT, or an 07 Corvette is beyond me. It's supposed to be a classic show, for real classics. Not suped-up wannabe's. Not to mention one of the last times I went, there was a guy with a '56 Jeep FC-150. Hopefully I won't be the only Jeep there this time... Granted, my truck is no "Classic", but it's rare, so that in itself gains it a spot this month. I'll be promoting the club too, with business cards! :brows: So stay tuned for an update later this month. It may not look it, but there's been work done. Believe me; and there's still a lot to do before the show.
  8. Got a manual from comanche87, very pleased.
  9. Ha, nice advice. Didn't help the problem, but made me laugh pretty well. That's also what I've been believing since I got this truck.
  10. So I finally made progress today, only to have it null and voided by the truck 4 hours later... :fs1: I installed a radio today, a nice unit I got from a friend from his XJ. Installation went smooth, and nothing seemed amiss. Not only that, but I also took crusier54's advice and did his "Renix Grounds" fix on my 2.5 (dipstick tube cleanup and behind the cylinder head braided cable). Again, everything seemed to go smoothly, and I haven't really seen any notable difference aside from my truck now seems to be running worse than before I cleaned everything up. Before I cleaned everything up, the truck would occasionally stumble when in idle, but for the most part, ran pretty well, aside from it ticking (which it has always done, and from what I gather, is due to worn out lifters). The problem is thus: I drove it about 12 miles roundtrip to my local hardware store and back, and the truck is making a loud rumbling sound from inside the cab (like it doesn't have a muffler) and when I get out of the truck, nothing is amiss, and it seems to be running fine. It was dark out, and I couldn't really get under the truck and look at anything down there (like the manifold-exhaust connection to see if it came loose) Prior to driving it today, I drove it day before yesterday, with no issues. Aside from the possibility of a manifold crack/exhaust leak, could it be any other problem? :dunno:
  11. :hijack: Funny you say that Jim.... that's how mine was for about all of the 5 years my PO had my Jeep. If it wasn't for my intervention, it probably would have made it to the 25 mark :D
  12. Was coming home last night with the GF when we pulled behind this rig in Mt. Dora (for those of you Floridians who know where that is) At first I thought it was MY truck, but then realized my bumper didn't look like that, my rear window isn't duct-taped, and I don't have a 4.0 :( :( :( This guy must have either done some serious towing with that 4.0, or been using the bumper as a temporary trampoline  or gotten into a serious wreck, considering how smashed in the tailgate is. Either way, I was pretty impressed that it's still on the road. Didn't see the front of it though.
  13. Not trying to rag here, but I hate it when people put "This vehicle gets X amount of miles around town or on the highway" Most of the time, it's complete BS because I know for a fact that there is absolutely NO WAY, a 2.5 in pristine condition can get that much. If it were possible, I'd be getting as much mileage as my buddy with an 02 Civic does in the city. Ranting aside, Ad was a lot better than the usual ones I see on CL. Wish there were more people like that.
  14. X2 you are missing the small aluminum? housing that actuates the horn. I have no proof, but from my experience different years (I got my wheel from a CJ according to the PO) had different heights. I had to add .25 inches of metal to get mine to honk properly. So aside from the metal "button" missing from my collection, is there anything else that's stopping me from mounting the steering wheel on my truck? Reason I ask is because my current wheel has been pretty much taken apart and driven as is with everything off and I'm starting to get tired of the bare-bones look  Also, is the bottom part (3 prong opening) necessary to mount this type of wheel? Or can it be mounted without it?
  15. Picked up a nifty 3 spoke, black steering wheel with matching button a while back. At the time, I didn't think to grab the bottom part of the "center cap" setup. Silly, I know. Can anyone tell me what other parts I'm missing (and maybe throw out a picture or two?) to complete the swap? Keep in mind I'm going to be swapping over from the "wing" style of steering wheel. Thanks
  16. Unfortunately, I have too many projects going on with my MJ at the moment to warrant dropping the column and swapping to tilt steering. :( One day though.... :fs1:
  17. That, A. You definitely know what you're doing when you get to working on a vehicle. And, B. If that blue triangle on the inner chest lid represents what I believe it represents, then you have quality taste in video games. :dunno:
  18. Posts about tools are few and far between. I like tools as much as the next guy, but sometimes I wish I had a fancy setup that could hold my MJ, J10(want one) and Firebird(want this too) and a copious amount of tools to work on them. All that with of course a nice flat screen TV and a mini-fridge. Anybody out there have the ultimate garage setup in mind? IE: If you could make the perfect garage/man cave to work on your Jeeps / other vehicles, what would it include? --------- On a similar note, anybody got a good recommendation on Torx Bit sets? I am serverly lacking them in my garage and can't seem to find a good deal most places I'm looking. :redX:
  19. Impressive truck, if you look past the rust that is. ;) Really diggin on your plans for it and that cool winch. Most importantly, i'm insanely jealous of the tilt steering. :fs1: :brows: Gonna keep an eye on your build.. :wrench:
  20. Impressive. I'll have to remember that gasket kit in the future when I change most of that stuff. :D Thanks for the info and links guys, but I'm pretty sure that I'm going to stay w/ the internal slave setup for the time being. Since I don't have the time, nor the $ to go out and hunt for an external AX4 with all the additional setups. :hmm: If this truck wasn't my DD, I probably would though.
  21. Going to be replacing the clutch slave soon, due to never being replaced and acquiring a size-able leak as of late. Not sure if the clutch is going to be needing replacement, but I wouldn't doubt it. Since the slave is getting replaced, and the pressure plate, disk, etc might need to be replaced, what kit would you guys recommend getting? One that would give me all of these things hopefully, so I don't have to spend buko-bucks buying each thing. Even if none of the clutch components need replacing, I can still have the satisfaction of having the spare parts there when needed down the road. Also, in regards to the rear main, does anyone know if the RM in the 2.5 is a one piece, or multi-piece set up, as I see 2 different offerings by my local parts place. :dunno: The one piece says it's an exact fit, but I just want to make sure before I spend the money on it, and it's not correct. If anyone can think of anything else I should replace, check, etc. while the tranny is going to be down and out, don't hesitate to say so.
  22.

    '86 Emblems

Looking for 2 "Custom" emblems. Searching at the JY usually yields no results, so I figured that somebody has to have a few of these laying around somewhere. Shipping is to the 32778 area, lemme know what you have! Picture by SPCBruce89
  24. Van Halen is definitely my favorite band of all time (both versions), and yes, both my girlfriend and I have heard and seen the video for Tattoo. Is it a bad song? By any stretch of the term, no, it isn't. In fact, I think it's a pretty catchy tune. Do I think that their new album is going to shake the foundation of the music industry when it's dropped next month? Definitely, DEFINITELY not. Everyone knows that VH is past their prime, but most everyone feels that VH III didn't live up to everyone's expectations, and after the 2004 tour with Hagar, VH was craping out on all the fans. So, I say the fans should be glad that any kind of album with a "sensible" Eddie V. playing on it with Roth on vocals is getting released. Besides, even if you don't like the new album, what's stopping you from putting in 1984 or Fair Warning in the truck and driving?
  25. Not only does the industry make no sense most of the time, it's for ridiculous reasons. My dad had a few credit cards, and was always making payments on time, but when he stopped using credit cards altogether and wanted to go get a loan on a house several years later (2011) he was denied because he DOESN'T have any credit cards as of right now. :dunno: This is why I always use cash for everything; although this doesn't apply for everyone, my whole deal is, "If you don't have the money right then and there for something, don't buy it / finance it."
