2020 'Rona MJ Crawl - Just FYI, a group of MJs are going to the Badlands in Attica IN August 15. Arrive at 9:00, plan on being on the trails at 10:00. I know its a drive for TN peeps, but just putting it out there.

The excess rain did our tomatoes in the last couple years. I've also found that leaving them in even large pots or buckets cause them to die off mid growing season; I think they run out of nutrients. This year we started plants from seeds in the greenhouse and transplanted to raised garden beds (3' fire rings from tractor supply) and we are having good luck so far - every plant is still producing and looks healthy. We tried Bush Cucumbers to this year - they grow up instead of out. The plant did well, but it only had 5-6 cucumbers on it... don't know what happened, just didn't have the blooms. In KY btw.

Replacing the inner axles seal AGAIN on the front axle... Last time I replaced it I broke a u-joint the next day acting stupid. Upgraded the axles, but was too lazy to pull the chunk and fix the seal. Its a slow leak, the mud guards keep most of the oil in, and I just check the level from time to time. Next time I'm going to go riding I'll have to fix it...

Turn truck off and AC won't work when restarts...
EvilMJ replied to EvilMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Might be... but it works perfectly fine, no dragging, cold air. Accidentally kill it for a split second, restart, and air is hot. Makes no sense. Eagle may be right, weak relay or something... dunno. -
Turn truck off and AC won't work when restarts...

By turn it off, I mean restart the truck. Flipping AC controls makes no difference. -
Have the oddest problem. I can be driving with super cold air and stop for 2-3 minutes or even kill it backing up, restart and the the air blows hot! Sometimes I can turn it back off and it starts blowing cold again - sometimes not... wtf?!? Eventually it will get cold again. Anyone else had this problem?

Awesome build

One of the best looking MJs I've seen

Make or purchase?

Howdy Howdy Howdy!

What color is your truck? Mine is an eggshell/satin and it looks a lot like yours, but it's a repaint over red... always been curious as to what color it may be.

I think its a good compromise. I can run 70-75 on highway, but it crawls around pretty good in low. It's probably not optimal for a rock crawler, but its 80% driver, so I can't complain. I will say that on big interstate hills I will have to shift down to 4th, but most times it cruises around 2000-2500 in 5th.

I had a 7 degree reamer that I purchased as well. Instructions said to take the hole from 1/2 to 5/8 then ream up to 3/4 on the bottom using reamer. I assume the drilling was to make less work for the reamer. I was relatively painless except the 1st bit broke and the others I had were worn, so they were slow go.

Well finally had enough time today to tighten the fan belt, change oil, clean air filter, install PS TenFactory axle, new knuckle bolts and axle nuts on both sides, and installed the Rough Country HD steering setup with stabilizer. I'm done and in the hammock!
-
Well, it's all installed. Went relatively well. Can't stress enough to buy a NEW 5/8" drill bit (or two) - broke one (my best one) on the first knuckle. Otherwise pretty painless, but drilling the pitman arm was a bit of a chore. Put it back together and aligned to the same width with a tape measure. Tracks good, tierod rattle is gone, and all feels tighter. Happy!

Oh, it already had in that picture! lol That was March's carnage. Shouldn't try to pull over a dead 32" elm w/ stock axles I had cut all the way around it, but it was much stronger in the middle than expected!

Well, I'm sorry I haven't been pushing the meet-up. Between the virus and the constant fixes on the Comanche (it will be new soon!), I haven't had much desire for a meet-up. Things are opening up from the virus, but I'm not totally sure that they should be... maybe mid/late summer we can all meet up in the Nashville area (if any restaurants survive the apocalypse! lol). Hope everyone is doing ok. If anyone gets up around Bowling Green, let me know.

What you talking about Willis?!? Tell me more about this brake upgrade you speak of... Rough Country set-up came in yesterday... anyone in KY want to help this weekend??? lol
-
Well, I bit the bullet and ordered the Rough Country HD steering upgrade - the offset clears both style knuckles. Disaster averted. Here is the only picture I have of the knuckle. Ghet, what kind of brake upgrades are you taking about?!?

So, noticed a shake every now and again, so I decided to check and grease the front suspension. When I went to grease the pass side tie rod end, the joint moved!! So... Time to replace and/or upgrade. The problem: what year is my axle? Truck is an 89, but everything was changed on it before I bought it.. D30, non-disconnect, hi pin, 27spline... All seems correct, but when I go for upgraded tie rods, I come up against 84-90 or 91+. WTF is the difference?!? More importantly, how do I determine difference? HELP...
-
Probably not.. we are the oddballs as usual lol

Just sent them a question about the fuel management, they said: With OBDI/II harnesses OBDI will be able to use HP Tuners, so yeah, unless we upgrade, we are out at this point unless we go to Mega-squirt or comparable stand alone.
