I plan on doing as much as the work I can myself as I want to really learn how to wrench on her properly. Here is how she’s sitting currently: -
86 Beater to Better

I’ve done a few things since owning her starting with a H4 relay harness, a new headlight switch, and connector. Glad I did this before it caught fire.Threw some leds in the dash while I was at it. New U joints in the rear drive shaft, had the exhaust patched and re attached to the trans bracket. Put a new trans mount in, cross member bolt broke but I’ll fix that at a later date. 80w-90 in the diffs, fresh fluid in the Np 207 and a new output shaft seal, for some reason it was impossible to find until I went online. And a oil change after a sea foam treatment. Gonna pull the trigger on some redline soon -
Starting a build thread after 3 months of owning my 86 Comanche, had a TJ a few years back and ended up having to let it go. Since I sold it I knew I wanted another Jeep and now needing a truck I stumbled across this gem in Lancaster PA. Drove it home to Baltimore MD in poring down rain with a decent driveline vibration and dry rotted tires, safe I know. But this is a strong truck or so it seems. Here’s a pic from the craigslist ad: 1986 Jeep Comanche X 4x4 Lwb 2.5 l AX-5 Np 207 Dana 30 front Dana 35 rear 3.53 gears 31x10.5r15 BFG Long Trail Seems mostly stock besides some pocket flairs, d window wheels, snorkel, JKS sway bar disconnects, add a leaf, and a homemade front bumper.

it’s would be cool if you put this up in the DIY section once you get it going. Just a thought

I don’t have a very interesting profile but I’ll take it Thanks guys

Yeah I took the pic with my phone sideways but it’s all good, I dig it just how it is

https://www.amazon.com/150-Watt-Transformer-Halogen-BSET150/dp/B00905TLLU?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_3 I’m not sure if the led driving will work for incandescent so I found this one. You can try the led driver but it’s hard to say without giving it a try

Just looking at my profile I saw something that says “days won”. Just curious what the means?
-
@Pete M can you resize an image for me so I can use it as my avatar. I’ve tried scaling it down on my phone (no desktop) and can’t get it small enough, really want my avatar to not just be a B.

Your would have to run additional wire between all the lights and connect that to the driver. If the lights in the header panel aren't all led I don’t know how well this would work btw. Also I don’t think you’d be able to run multiple headers with this driver, maybe 2. If you have 5 or 6 I would buy one driver per header. But try one first before you buy a bunch. What type of bulbs would you put in your header panels?
-
Are the all the lights led? If so than that driver should work. Like @Keyav8r said you’ll have a ton of light in your man cave. Post some pics when you get it wired, I’d like to see how bright it actually is. Also so I don’t think the fuse would be necessary since your using that driver and have a circuit breaker in the panel.
-
Haven’t looked into this but a 120v to 12v transformer with a fuse and switch would do the trick. Connect the hot and the ground to the lights. Also something that can hold decent amperage since the headlights probably draw a decent amount.

Under Dash Lights
BeaterComanche86 replied to Manche757's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I found that out on my last trip to the pick and pull. So now I have some 94’s that just sit in the basement... -
I listen to mostly comedians Joe Rogan, Theo Von, and Joey Coco Diaz. Joe has some great guests on (not just comedians) so there’s some really good info in the 1000 or so podcasts he’s done. If your interested in ww1 and 2, Dan Carlin’s Hardcore history is a great one too. Between those that’s enough content to get me through the work week.

BeaterComanche86 replied to BeaterComanche86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks I’ll be upgrading the rest of the grounds and the wires coming off the battery in time so I’ll keep @MeanLemons cables in mind as well as those bored throttle body’s -

@cruiser54 would you suggest getting another braided cable or would a large gauge wire work? Like a 4 or 6 gauge -
C101 connector?
BeaterComanche86 replied to BeaterComanche86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sweet well I guess since mine is a 86 that won’t be the source of any problems. Thanks again guys -
