  1. Thanks, that's the info I was looking for. Do you know if the Hellas are any better as far as light to side? It is good to know that both have good cutoffs, which is what I had read previously.
  2. The "E-Mark" Autopals, (not the diamond cut) very closely resemble the Hella E-codes and are actually supposed to be of reasonable quality and have the European 'cutoff' which is great for running HIDs. I just didn't know if I wanted to get those, or pay twice/thrice as much for Hellas.
  3. Nope didn't go back to stock, just went back to my diamond cut style housings with hids. Atleast the lighting is better than the others. Eventually I'll go with either autopal or hella e-codes. Anybody know if the Hellas are worth the price difference because I've read that they are a very close product?
  4. I can't tell you man, I had them on for a day, then took them off yesterday because I didn't like them. Never took them off road. All I can say is give it a shot, hopefully you'll have better luck.
  5. Yeah, that's the problem, they kinda work with the regular bulbs but with HIDs all they do is blind other drivers and make vision worse than stock. It's basically a reflector housing with a magnifying glass that only succeeds in totally f'ing up the beam pattern. I was disappointed to say the least. At least they were cheap.
  6. I ordered those too, they send the light everywhere but the road. Now they're on craigslist. :dunno:
  7. Wow, I'd really appreciate that... Good: Bad:
  8. One of my license plate light bulb covers has been broken since I purchased the truck. My girlfriend thinks the white light shining behind me is obnoxious. However, I can't seem to find this part, even searching for the part number from the good one. Anyone know where they can be found, or perhaps what there called... maybe I'm just looking for them incorrectly. Thanks.
  9. The ones I installed were very simple, plug and play, I didn't even have to modify any of the original wiring. So I can go back to stock, if I wanted to, at any time.
  10. On another odd note, this vehicle was also involved in an accident with another vehicle in 1992... when it was brand new.
  11. It's actually somewhere at about 4300K... So yes, by going to 8000K, I've lost some lumens. So if you want full potential go somewhere between 4 and 6.
  12. The lighting is great. Better than stock by far, and I've never been a fan of gratuitous fog-lights, unless it's on a brush guard or roll bar, so, for without adding lights in new locations, it's awesome. And yes, it is blue. I was torn between 6 and 8,000K and I let the guy talk me into it. Personally, I like it on the gunmetal color of the truck, but at times it is definitely at that limit of blue-ness...
  13. They actually inspect that? Find a better shop! ..... Then fix at your leisure.
  14. Ha, yeah, I'm not expecting it to last forever, but it was only $39, direct H4 plug in, and from a local shop, so we will see. It's 8000K... hopefully I won't get hassled
  15. Yes, I too was upset that there was no follow up on the original thread. So I will be very, very interested to see the results. :D
  16. @mike, looks awesome! @jmderyke, Because it's an H4 coversion, it's not an "ideal" setup because the low/high is in one bulb. However the setup I have runs HID for low, and has a regular halogen filament for the high beams. So it does have low and high, but only an hid low.
  17. Well, I got this stupid idea, or brilliant. I had an extra pair of subwoofers lying around. (I now have 2 12s in a box I built that fits behind the bench seat :D ) Anyway, back on topic, I traded those for some sealed beam to h4 conversion housings and found a local shop selling HID kits for $39 bucks... cheaper than buying 2 decent h4 bulbs. So needless to say, I now have HID lighting. Here is a comparison picture. (That is actually a new Silverstar on the right...) I have since aimed and pointed them down a bit for now, so they don't blind others until my new projector housings come in... But I can say, the lighting is AMAZING.
  18. I want the interior. It's sad, but things like that do happen. He does want too much, however.
  19. x2 on the acetone, then some plastic polish/back to black in the case that they are lightly chalked. And to the OP, I can't find what I used exactly... but any decent semi-gloss will look just fine.
  20. True, the corn alcohol does nothing good for gas mileage, causes premature wear of parts, and deteriorates rubber. The only thing it does is give the corn growers something to do. Corn is for eating... not making corn syrup, not making ethanol... eating. It's funny that they're in an uproar, as you say. We've been dealing with it for some time now.
  21. Yeah, I hate it when it's that time of the month :peek: .... Oh. Yeah. That ad sucks.
  22. I'm going to guess rustoleum... (I'm certified in paint and body, have the tools and still using a can, what can I say? :brows: ) but I'll tell you for certain when I get back to the shop tomorrow. Make sure you sand, prep, and prime... as that will insure whatever you go with sticks. Also being on the rear of the car, it's less prone to rock chips. I've used a different semi-gloss on the front bumper of my XJ, same results, no chipping. I'll tell you exactly what brands when I can go look at the can, but in reality, semi-gloss is pretty uniform, what your looking for is something that will adhere well.
  23. I've always been able to reach my keys through the rear slider, by pushing while sliding from the outside, one can unlatch it. Either way it provides a large area to poke the lock with if you don't care to stick your head and arm/s through the slider. However, I do like the license plate key, as well as the wallet. However, breaking windows-- NO! Especially the vent windows, here those are way overpriced...
