I’ve got a NOS one I could take a pic of haha. But what I can tell you is this. There are four vac lines that run to the vac reservoir (football) behind the bumper. Two are for the HVAC and two go to CC. I don't know which ones are which as they can easily be plugged in either way on the football, but you will probably have to do some jiggling of the vac lines to see what is what. Follow one line from the servo and back to the football while the other line should meet where the HVAC gets it’s vac from. The second hose connected to the servo is with the CC wiring harness and it goes into the firewall and is plugged into a vac dump valve behind the brake pedal.

Oooo my area haha. I recommend checking the vac lines first. Once those are known to be good, check the switch that goes behind the brake pedal and make sure it is adjusted right(two man job). After that we will need to check electrical.

Its not that, the stickers AMC used werent the absolute greatest in the world. Most are there, its just illegible. Unless someone did a door swap or repaint.

I think the XJ and MJ are the only vehicles that have these plugs. Last I recall there’s still about 100 some odd NOS ones out there.

The radiator is different. On my 84 XJ, the radiator is thinner than the one in my MJ. Course that being said I have seen 86 MJs with the later normal radiator. So the only thing that leaves as to what could possibly be different would be the radiator mounting set up between 86 and 87. You can also look into the 2.8L stuff as the condenser and radiator were shared with those years. So you do have options, just maybe not extensive enough. Course if I were you, I’d find a 2.8L that someone is junking, yank the AC parts and see if you can get them to fit. I feel like they could.

I’d love to have the early waggy variant of the header panel. Anytime I see them being parted out, they almost always seem to be something someone doesn’t want to sell.

You might be able to get away with using 4.0L hoses but you will need a 2.5L condenser. Depending on the year as well as the condensers are different from 84-86 and 87-01.

Pretty much Pete! It was a blast! I even registered to become a member of the AZ chapter of the AMO. Met a few AMC guys and talked about my Jeep with a few people. Finally met the owner of an MJ that lives close to @MJCARENA today as well. His MJ is white with those fancy metal body moldings that have the laser etched Comanche on the door moldings. Learned that it’s hard to talk about an addiction with folks that are there to look at cars and not so much learn about your vehicle. Oh and I got to educate an older gentleman that AMC made their own 4cyl as he thought I had that stupid iron duke engine. And I also represented CC by putting CC as my club affiliation as well.
