Crispy a 1989 Long Bed Dually
88mjsally replied to 88mjsally's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Got started on the ls swap wiring harness. Thining down the factory harness from the 2002 suburban donor. It seems like a lot but really isn’t too bad. LT1swap.com has some really good diagrams which has helped a lot so far. Also forgot to post the pictures I took when I hauled it to a car show. I almost need a wider trailer -
PICTURES NEEDED! OM jeep MJ AMC Rear window louvers

It’s aluminum and appears to be riveted together. There is rubber on the vertical pieces to cushion it from the glass as well. I don’t really have the stuff to measure thickness correctly. Honestly it’s a pretty complicated assembly so it would be hard to replicate without having one in front of you to copy all the dimensions and angles from and a full metal fab shop. That’s at least my personal opinion -

I will have to get some of the mounting brackets too but they stick to the glass with double sided tape then it mounts to the brackets with the twist lock clips -

It’s not mounted at the moment. The truck I might eventually put it on is in a million pieces at the moment -

Got some marker lights installed on the fenders. I don’t like drilling holes in impossible to find parts but I wanted them for safety and they make it look like a true dually -
Appreciate it!

I got the ROL fog lights wired up over the weekend and installed a 12k winch I had from a parts jeep in the bumper. Also fixed the blinker issues I was having and put in all new LED bulbs -

Probably easier to do this as a list of the parts I used since it’s not really a kit other than the fenders. Rear axle: sterling cab and chassis 10.5 from a 1995 ford f-350 7.3 dually Front axle: Dana 30 hp from a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. Front suspension: rough country 4.5” springs shocks and lower control arms. IRO adjustable track bar and rough country extended brake lines Rear suspension: stock mj springs and shocks with Barnes 4wd perches welded to the 10.5 spring over. Dually fenders: came out of Florida from a truck that was getting parted out. Unsure if they are JC Whitney or something else but they are for sure mj specific. Someone did fill in the fuel door so I used boat parts to add one back in. Front Bumper: arb from a 97-01 xj with a 12k badlands winch installed in it Wheels and tires: front wheels are from a newer jk with adapters. Rear wheels are just stock steelies with new but cheap mud tires. Brakes: 95-96 xj booster and master plumbed to mostly original lines with the rear prop valve deleted. I used a 91-96 xj brake pedal so I didn’t have to try to grind on the rod from the booster. that’s most of the details and I added all the pics I took so far. Eventual plans involve removing the worn out 4.0 and replacing it with a 5.3 lm7 and 4wd ax15 -

I have a tan one in Ladson, SC. Needs recovered but good frame
-
I have one $50 shipped. Parting out a couple 97+ xjs currently
-
I have a complete set of blue plastics that I’d let go of if you can’t find just the one piece you need. Kick panels, rocker trim, an and b pillar trim. I think I have the rear carpet piece and plastic piece too
-
It looks good from the firewall side. I don’t have the carpet out currently. I was going to offer the pieces you needed free if you cut them out
