  1. Not too long ago, I got a new gauge cluster, with a tachometer, from a Cherokee. When I plugged it up, everything seemed to work fine, except the tach's needle was roughly 6,000 rpms too high. When I revved it, it seemed to go up the right amount. Basically what I'm saying is I think that all that is wrong is the starting position of the needle. Is there a way to correct this, or is it another problem. Also, just in case it's important, here is more information on the Cherokee that I got it from: Vin: 1JCWL772XGT175333, 5 speed manual, v6, 2 doors, and it's 4 wheel drive. Thanks
  2. Also, at the same yard as the xj we are talking about, there was an 1989 Mj on the same row. It had ONLY 89,000 miles on it. Seats and most of interior was gone, I took the parking release handle for my missing one. It said it came in at the beginning of April. I just can't believe that it only had 89,000 miles.
  3. I don't really know much about the axles, or many other things for that matter, but I also don't think that they would have swapped one in, and then sold it to a salvage yard. I'll try to do some research and next time I swing by, I'll check.
  4. Alright, well thanks for the input. I'll probably just keep on searching.
  5. I was visiting pull-a-part and found a 1986 xj. It was a 4x4, but had a v6. I'm pretty sure it has an ax-5(correct me if needed), so that's no good to me. I know the axle should be fine, but would the transfer case or driveshaft be any different from what I need for an mj? The vin is "1jcwl772xgt175333" according to the sticker.
  6. I also have that same mopar pamphlet. It came with the owner's manual.
  7. I didn't even think about that. Surely there are some decent seats at my local pull-a-part, or whatever yard. Thanks again for the info.
  8. Ok, thanks for the help everyone. I will look for some 2-door seats, but they will probably be harder to find. I'm sure that when I do find some, they will be worth it!
  9. Oh, I see what you mean now. Sometimes I worry about myself.
  10. The ones in my 95 tilt forward.
  11. You mean 4 door seats don't tilt?
  12. Ok. So I need to find XJ seats that are from before 94 do use my MJ bench brackets correct?
  13. Ok. Lol that took a really dumbed down version until I understood. Thanks for the help
  14. Sorry if I'm not getting it I'm still kinda new.
  15. So, if I remove the brackets from the bench seat(however it may take) and keep them in the floor, will the XJ seats fit?
  16. I meant if I left the seat brackets from the bench in the floor, and just unbolted the bench, if the XJ seats would bolt right onto the MJ brackets.
  17. Ok, I'll need to go get one soon. My power steering pulley is cracked, and the whole shaft that it slides onto is crooked. Wait, wouldn't that mean that I need a whole new pump if the shaft the pulley is on is bent? I have a parts XJ(95), with a perfectly good one. Right now, I'm trying to figure this out, because I don't want to spend 10 bucks or whatever renting a puller, only to find out that I could have just swapped over the entire pump(or had to).
  18. My 89 has a bench, and I have seats from a 95 XJ. Will the XJ seats fit in my MJ, and if they need to be adjusted, how much of a pain is it?
  19. Do you think there would be one at a local O'reilys or Advance?
  20. What kind of puller do I need to get the power steering pulley off? I bought it for so cheap because it was hit with a deer, and one of the many bent things was the power steering pulley. Can someone give me a link or something for the kind of puller I need to get, or a youtube video showing it? I have a regular puller but I'm pretty sure I need some kind of special one for this.
