  1. So what has the proper crossmember for an ax15? Do I have to wait until I find a Cherokee with an ax15, does it also have to be 4wd? The crossmember from the YJ was basically a huge skidplate, I doubt that's what I need but I don't know what I'm talking about so that's why I'm asking for clarification.
  2. I was wrong, it's on the adapter thing in between the trans and transfer case. I marked where I assume the actual transfer case starts, and the four bolts that hold the plate on.
  3. The plate under it that bolts on with 4 bolts. It bolts to the bottom, on the transfer case, right after the trans ends.
  4. Oh I should mention, the passenger side stud holding the cross member broke, so I couldn't take it off, just swivel on the broken stud. So if you're wondering why it's sagging to the drivers side that's why.
  5. Here's some pictures of the mounts. AX-15 with NP231 BA/10 with no transfer case (previous trans)
  6. No, I have the cross member from the ba/10 still. Do I need to get a different cross member? I don't think it would be different since technically it mounts to the transfer case.
  7. I thought about that, not entirely sure but I'm trying to figure out all my options first.
  8. Yeah the one on the bottom looks like the one that came with the YJ, but it has 4 studs instead of 2.
  9. I got the new ax15 and np231 all bolted up, pretty much all that's left is to put everything else back in place, but I have an issue. For one, the rubber exhaust bracket thing is about 4 inches too far forward, and two, the transmission mount only has two studs where as I need the four for the cross member. I've thought about swapping over the whole plate from the ba/10 trans, but I'm not sure if the rubber trans mount on it would be strong enough to support the extra weight of the transfer case. MAIN QUESTION: Are the mounting plates from the YJ's the same as the XJ's/MJ's? My problem is there are only two studs coming down from the YJ's trans mount (rubber part), but I need to add a different rubber mount so I can have 4 studs for my cross member. On top of this, I need to relocate the exhaust bracket a few inches back. So, if it can be done, the easiest solution I can think of is to put the old mounting plate on, which would take care of the exhaust bracket, and see if I can find a new rubber trans mount for that plate that has 4 studs. Also, I bought a rubber trans mount already, but the two holes where it mounts to the plate are too far apart, by 3 or 4 inches maybe. Even if that did work, I would still have to figure out the exhaust bracket, which I would probably just cut it off and weld it further back. Don't think its important but I'll include pictures.
  10. I'll probably eventually look into a slip yoke eliminator but for now I'm trying to save money, and for the kind of use my truck will be seeing I really don't think I'll need one, at least not for a good while.
  11. That looks like it's in great condition. My bench has a few tears but its vinyl :/
  12. Ahhhh ok, thanks it helps a lot.
  13. So I need the new flywheel I just got, not the one that came on my truck? Sorry I got lost after that last post.
  14. Oh ok, so just leave the fly wheel and clutch on that are under the ba10 rn?
  15. It is? My dad kept saying I would probably need to get the flywheel and clutch, but obviously y'all know more so please expand.
  16. ^well obviously I still need a front axle but I don't think that's important to the driveshaft question, unless the YJ had a low pinion, which I forgot.
  17. I still need driveshafts, I can get help shortening the rear, but just making sure I can just take any front shaft from an XJ right?
  18. So update, thing was stripped, but by some luck they were both there. My brother helped me out, we got the trans and tc, the flywheel, and I also grabbed a hood cowel since mines busted open, but was rushing with 5 min left til closing. Unfortunately the tail cone tip was busted on the end of the tc and the yoke wasn't there. I forgot to get a pic but I'll take one if someone wants to see ig. Going back tomorrow probably to get the clutch, forgot it in the hurry lol.
  19. No but I'll def give it a try.
  20. Ah ok Gotcha, I'm just gonna try to get the trans and tc from this YJ if it has it. I'll just wait for a 95+ XJ for the axle, maybe a 4 cylinder if I'm lucky so I don't need to get 4.10 gears.
  21. I would like too but I'm not having any luck. But why do you say that? I'm asking because I don't see why that would be an issue using an axle from a different car than the tran/tc.
  22. I'm gonna head over and check out the YJ later today, around 2.
  23. Ok I don't mid a little bit of hammering if it comes to that. And I knew about the shift levers but didn't think that would really be an issue. I was just gonna grab a tc shift lever from an XJ and either leave the YJ shift stick on the trans, find some XJ/MJ stick and swap it (assuming that's possible, or just get an aftermarket one. All I really care about is the actual shaft's dimensions, I'm gonna do something custom with the handle, not sure what though. My brother put a 125 and 250 two stroke piston on his toyota pick up's shifters.
  24. When you say the clocking can be overcome, what exactly is your definition of overcome? Am I gonna be hammering or cutting out the floor?
  25. Ok so my mind is off the axle now, I'm just focused on the trans and tc. One of the main reasons is because I don't have a hard time finding 231's but it's hard to find one that I know for sure was with an ax-15 or trans that shares the same input shaft. I've been waiting to find one like this, where it's an ax-15 still mated with the 231, that way I can be sure it's the right input shaft, and it's overall less work if I don't have to bolt the trans and tc together. I have a ba10 that's why I'm after an ax15. I'll just wait for an XJ axle, I hear the 4 cylinder's come with 4.10 gears.
