That tape setup is interesting. It should be a cool bed cage when it starts coming together. Are you planning to cut out the bed and just leave the bedsides, or just cut out holes for the shocks?

"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build
Swampy replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Here is the best picture I have at the moment of post lift kit (roughly 6" of lift all the way around) If the front is sitting a little higher its because there is a bunch of crap in the bed of the truck -
"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build
Swampy replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Its been a while since I have updated you guys on the build. As my last post was in 2017 first off happy new years to all of my comanche family. Secondly, some work has been done on the comanche, Cleaned, prepped, welded and painted the 8.25 to be slung under Wendy and it was installed yesterday (sitting at about 6 inches of lift) I also picked up the rear driveshaft I got made, and broke a bolt while installing it Thirdly I ordered and installed 1.5" coil spacers in the front along with installing the adjustable control arms I have And finally I pulled the rear disc brakes from an '04 Jeep liberty with an 8.25 for my mj I have a full kj disc brake swap on a 8.25 axle write up in the DIY section -
I don't really collect much, I have a few model cars. But I do have a long list of hobbies from mountain biking, camping, fishing, skeet shooting (or just shooting in general), archery (I need more practice to go out on an actual bow hunt), photography and paracording. not to mention scouring the internet for car projects I'll be able to work on

Load / Height Sensing Valve Delete / Bypass
Swampy replied to SBpunk's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
just curious as to what the pros/cons are of deleting this. My mj has the valve in the back but the connecting rod was missing from the d35. I also have no idea if it is in working condition -
Welcome!! Another 4 banger ✊

I know its alittle old but love what you did with your manche. Surprisingly this is the firt time I read your build thread and am following almost exactly the same path... its scary haha. I swapping in an 8.25 with 2wd leafs in the rear. I got 4.5" coils up front I plan on putting 1.5" spacers on top to be at about 6" in the front. I am not sure if it'll make the truck sit level with the soa in the rear but we'll see

Rags to Riches: 1990 Comanche build up *with pics*
Swampy replied to westypoo's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
That 4.5" kit sit level when it was all said and done? I have the same rear axle C8.25 and went soa in the with 4.5" coil up front. Without the new shocks in the rear, the measurement from the bottom of the fender lip (without the flairs) to the ground is almost 2 inches more in the rear compared to the front. Sorry for the nooby type question -
Bench Seat 4 Point Safety Harness
Swampy replied to comanche1989's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
does anyone have a diagram of where the stock seat belts go? I swapped from bench to buckets and forgot to not how the seat belts were mounted. I was also thinking of running a rear main hoop and harness bar and run a 4pt harness with cherokee buckets -

KJ discs onto XJ chrysler 8.25 write up
Swampy replied to agoldxj's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Okay good. I am trying to gather a list of parts for my brake upgrade, I know I want to do kj disc in the back and thinking of maybe a new booster/master but idk about that part yet -
KJ discs onto XJ chrysler 8.25 write up
Swampy replied to agoldxj's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I am planning on doing this swap on my 8.25. the stock 8.25 hard lines cannot be used with the disc? I have an extended rear brake line for the 8.25 w/ the distribution block, will this not work for the disc brakes? -
I do not have a picture unfortunately It had it, but i cut them out before I installed it. I should just replace the slave? I have a slave from a 1996 xj, I'm not sure how it would come a part because I bout a pre bled system
-
I have the same lift and I want to go 35s as well. How do you like it offroad with the 35's? did you level the truck after the lift?
-
Hey guys, Just finished the ax15 swap on my 4banger comanche. I originally bought a prebled unit from rock auto. I bolted everything up and it worked great for all of about one pedal press. By the second pedal press the pedal went all the way to the floor and fluid was coming out of the bell housing. I took the dust cover off and I found the slave push rod and rubber boot in the bell housing, with fluid coming out of the slave. How should I go about fixing this? Another prebled unit? just replace the slave or fix the one I have now?

I have new shocks from rusty's that came with my lift kit. My stock shocks feel blown. I don't want to hang the shock mounts down under the axle tube because I do plan on offroading the jeep but we'll see
-
For shock mounts after soa swaps... how many of you left the shock nounts hanging down, how many moved them up so they don't get hung up under the axle?
-
I got mine out using a strap to keep the pack together, a vise grip and a socket. No need for cutting. I took them out and reinstalled them flipped so the nut is on top of the pack now for the soa
-
Oh okay. I got worried. Mine werent damaged or rusted but I read ine time use only
-
Dang so they are one time use only... i have to take them back out now. And get some bolts or something
-
The centering pin on my leaf packs have the pin that goes though the middle, since it was sua originally, the pin has a nut on the bottom and the part that sticks out is round and has no where to grab it by to undo the nut. Like no allen or flat spots
-
How did you pull out the rounded stud on top?
-
For soa do you have to pull the cebtering pins and flip them so the rounded part is on the bottom side of the spring pack? If so does anyone have an tips/trick to get them out?
