  1. Got a bead on a boneyard starter, for $35. came out of a 98 XJ 4.0... Anyone had any luck with the boneyard starters? or should I just suck it up and pay the 70 bucks for a new one from Advanced?
  2. that rollbar don't look stock. the lines don't match up that well.
  3. Seriously. Replace em. I've seen an accident caused by someone reusing U bolts. The U bolts snapped, dragged the axle, ended up with a 3 car accident.
  4. More then likely I have the same ones then, since I have an 87 as well. But that helps out ALOT since I can make sure I have all my tools together BEFORE i get under there and go :doh:

  7. What tools are needed for a starter replacement? Renix 4.0/BA-10/5... When I did a Venture I needed some really whacked out sizes like 19/32 and such.. But Jeep kept it simple... right? :oops:
  8. I was curious about doing that. But if I do, I'm fabbing an equipment console for my radios and scanner.

  10. Whats the size of a BA-10/5 plug so I can get generic ones that don't need a goofy square bolt head?

  12. Yeah, the subject says it all. What could cause a rattling transmission? Sounds like a spray can's ball knocking around in there, also, every so often especially in reverse and first, it makes a CLUNK -CLUNK -CLUNK noise. Low gear oil? Bad bearing? It's a Ba-10/5.
  13. Is it mounted via the black washer-ring in the dash or to something else? mine kinda spins, but it's not being held in place by the black ring, that part is snapped off.
  14. Yeah I got that and done all that. I'm more interested in accessing the plug itself. I can wiggle the whole assembly through the space for the side vent line inside the dash behind the gauges, but Its really hard and the metal slices up hands good. I was wondering if I could remove the dash pieces next to the headlight switch with the vent. and figure out why it will work hooked up to some juryrigging, but the real switch does not. sigh.
  15. Is their any way to mount XJ seat brackets in? My MJs are rusty all to heck and the boneyards up here never have MJs. :(
  16. Backstory: PO had used a aftermarket pull knob light switch. ran lines to the plug used for all exterior and interior lighting. Lines ran controlled headlights, hot line, markers, and instrument panel. Now: Got a used headlight switch with the rheostat and such... Tried to plug the plug into the new switch. Only the headlights come on. No markers, no tail. I do not know if instrument did it was daylight out. Interior lights did not come on. Is this a grounding issue? Or what, but since obviously it's juryrigged together with an aftermarket switch, the individual lines do work, albeit I do not know what goes to what short of blue markers, tan headlights, and red hot. I'd prefer to be able to use the stock light switch and have all my stuff work. ALSO is their an easier way to get to the headlight switch's cubby other then remove the gauge cluster and finaggle through the wiring? how do I take off the side dash trim where the vent line is?

  19. hell, i was planning on getting some sheet metal and fabbing a pair of TJ/YJ tail lights into em and moutning in the same spot. but if i get a pic, might change my mind.
  20. How can I fix some rust in the bed's fender? Right above the wheel well, both sides.
  21. 50 x 60 version. has xj rain gutter mounts. KM tire carrier, home made tool and hilift jack mounts. comes with 4 spot lights, two marker lights, and the 50 cal box. has a satellite antenna mount too on rear end too.
  22. Will a 97-01 dash fit in a MJ? I may have a bite on a complete dash w/ wiring, column and airbags.
