  1. I definitely want to see this when you do it. Please post more details when you can.
  2. That's what I did. Man was it a pain driving around in the dark without any dash lights.
  3. WoodKrawler's method to me seems to be the easiest (and maybe the cheapest). The adapter ring is $60, which would probably be cheaper than sourcing another tank or a tank and gauge cluster. I didn't want to swap the cluster any way since the mileage is stored in the unit (that is correct isn't it?). I don't like the idea of losing capacity by using the adapter ring, but stepping down to a 15 gallon tank wouldn't help matters either. I wonder if it would be possible to fabricate a drop bracket for the adapter ring or modify the pump to space it down the extra 2.5". Is there is any way of just bypassing the stock pump with an electric one?
  4. Is this a slosh pan or something? How does the removal of the panel cause the gauge to move around? If its a stock Comanche tank, how do you plan on adapting the Cherokee pump? I'm really new at this and just trying to figure it all out. Thanks for the help.
  5. I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with my fuel system on the '97 swap. I've seen where others have used adapter rings for the XJ pump on the comanche tank or have swapped in other tanks completely. Someone suggested to me that I just run an electric fuel pump and just cut power to the existing pump. Please excuse my ignorance (I've not messed with any of this fuel stuff before), but does this sound like a viable option?
  6. This one and intermittent wipers are two that I'm looking forward too!
  7. Anybody? I know I'm not the first to install one.
  8. That's cool; its still a great looking truck. The red accents on white is pretty unique and is a great combination.
  9. I think I would have had a hard time trimming sheet metal in that good of shape (especially the bed). The truck looks good anyway.
  10. My girlfriend lives like 10 mins from there. Might have to make a trip to that lot sometime. Do they show a list of the vehicles they have online?
  11. I was working on the my '97 console last night and realized that the black plastic support that goes in the back (typically covering the airbag controller) doesn't work really well with the MJ transmission tunnel. If I get one in position, the other two mounting points are just floating. I'm just curious to see what other people have done.
  12. My first project went from this: to this: to this: and finally this: I miss it a lot, but the money I got from selling it has allowed me to build up my Comanche.
  13. That's one of the reasons I'm doing the '97 conversion. I desperately wanted power windows and door locks and now I get that and keyless entry, power mirrors, cruise control, etc. Having not had any of those things in a while, its going to feel like a luxury automobile.
  14. Yes, the triangles come off revealing the stuff to mount the other mirror. I can't remember for sure how they come off but I don't think they pry off. Seemed it hat screws or something but I'm drawing a blank. I think it pops on, but is held in place by one screw that is under the door panel. I'm taking my door panels off tomorrow, so I'll post up if that's not right.
  15. After seeing what was included with yours, I had to go back and look at mine. The license plate lights are like yours, but are different that what I have on my current bumper. My current black bumper has a square plate the is attached from the back that the lights are connected to. Mine doesn't have the wiring harness like yours though. Here is the interesting part though: the hardware bag has three different part numbers listed for the bumper assembly: Black Painted: Model No. 8220562 Chrome Plated: Model No. 8220583 Chrome-Laredo Version: Model No. 82200988 My box is labeled 8220988AB. The only thing that appears to be different is that my bumper end caps are a light gray, not black. I thought that maybe they had just faded over time (like fender flares on a Wrangler), but the end caps my current bumper are way darker than these. Here's a comparison (and yes, the previous owner tried to paint the entire bumper, plastic and all): I don't ever remember hearing anything about a Laredo Comanche. Any ideas?
  16. I paid someone to put my new rear slider in. After watching him do it though, I would have just bought the sealant and done it myself.
  17. If you're going to upgrade, might as well go for the newer style XJ mirrors. I got a pair off ebay for cheaper than that listing (they're actually for sale now if you want them - shameless plug). Othewise I'd try your local pull a part or junk yard. Those seem like a lot of coin for mirrors.
  18. What year/model Dakota tank should I look for? How does the size compare to the MJ?
  19. I'm pretty sure you are. I had one in a TJ that I flipped (bought and sold, not rolled over) and I wouldn't want it. It does seem like a lot of trouble for no gain. Go with the AW4 if at all possible.
  20. Where are you finding the information on Certifit? The website only seems to show lenses, mirrors and lights. I've got one somewhat near me that might be a good resource.
  21. I just recently got a NOS Chrome Bumper assembly. I had to pay more than $100 for it though. I would probably trade for a black one though cause its going to be the only chrome on this truck. Congrats on the find.
  22. Off Topic: What rear flares are on the white truck? They seem to match the +97 front flares pretty well.
  23. After much work and hours, the dashboard is finally done. Everything is connected; I swapped the VINs from the old dash, all the heater controls and the wiring harness plugs are connected. I will probably end up taking pieces off here and there to clean or re-dye. The passenger airbag cover looks like crap. The guy who I bought the XJ from bought the replacement airbag, but never installed it. So it just tumbled around the back getting all scratched up. I'm not even sure the driver airbag is for an XJ, it just doesn't fit well at all. The only other thing I'm not very happy with is the gap on the sides. The A-pillar pieces will fill some of that, but that's a close as I could get it to fit. Sorry for this one turning out so blurry. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep working on the interior or move back to the engine bay next. Its slowly coming together.
  24. Can't help with where to buy them, but I think they're Alcoas: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/stock ... ost4121478
  25. I can't see doing that with mine, but you did a great job and it looks fantastic.
