  1. Everybody who is going has been talking about doing a meet-up outside the show. As all the restaurants and other areas are going to be packed, we're going to do cookout at my house on Saturday evening. My house is approximately 3 miles (5 minutes) from the fairgrounds. Here's the rundown: - The gates close at the show at 5PM on Saturday, and the cookout starts at 6PM on Saturday, July 21. I have a big yard, so parking will be on grass. It's level, you will not need 4WD. We will be grilling and cooking a variety of food including hot dogs and hamburgers, etc. Drinks like water, iced tea and sodas will be here. If you want beer or liquor, you are free to bring it - BYOB. No specific end time, whenever things wrap up. We will be outside for the evening, unless it rains. At this point the forecast is clear until Sunday afternoon. Your families and kids are welcome. - If anyone has too much to drink or otherwise can't travel, you can camp on my property on Saturday night, so long as you tread lightly. No campfires or outside facilities. - PM me for my mobile number and address, if you can't get in touch with me, PM krustballer16. If you're coming to the cookout, please post back here in addition to PMing me so that everybody knows you will be here. I need to know how many people you are bringing. If you have any special requests for food or otherwise, let me know.
  2. We solved some SPAM filter issues a few months back by updating comancheclub.com DNS and also adjusted notification settings last month in preparation for the blast email Pete sent about getting images updated in your posts. I think what happened is we fixed some stuff that wasn't working, and now you're noticing mails you should have been getting all along. Unfollow / Unsubscribe from anything you may be following or subscribed to that you don't want. You can do that by editing your profile settings.
  3. My truck just passed PA inspection, so nothing is holding me back. She's entered in the show and will be there. Good luck with that part, Alexia. Looks like you're master packer krusty.
  4. June 2018: Fuel Delivery & Inspection For the past few weeks I've had an intermittent issue where the fuel rail was loosing pressure while driving, resulting in the MJ stalling. To fix on the roadside, I had to dump what fuel was in the rail into a rag, and then she would start right back up. Having already addressed the fuel pump by installing a new Bosch, and already having checked the relay and ballast resistor, I suspected the problem was the fuel pressure regulator. Today I borrowed the fuel pressure regulator from Ghost, and had no issues. I'll get a new one and put it in soon and return the borrowed unit to Ghost. Today was also annual PA inspection day for the truck, hence the need to get the fuel pressure regulator fixed. Silver Star passed without any issues. The mechanic noted rust on the drivers front u-joint was causing it to wear, and suggested replacement. He also noted I only drove the truck 600 miles in the past year, so he said I shouldn't worry about it anytime soon. While the MJ was up on the lift, I took a good look at the rear main seal and rear Dana 35. Both show evidence of slow fluid leakage, so I'll have to address those too. And there was a major rainstorm on the way home, and I discovered the wiper motor needs to be looked at. The different speeds are not functioning properly. All in all, it was nice to have the truck pass the annual PA inspection - she's good for another year, and not much to do really. She is a very solid driver at this point. This coming weekend is the All Breeds Jeep show in York, PA. It's the biggest show on the east coast, and quite a few club members are coming out to show their trucks and to sell and trade parts. Krustyballer16 is bringing quite a few parts this way for me and others, one being a Dana 44 rear for Silver Star. As there are several members showing their trucks to represent the club, I entered Silver Star, and she'll be there all weekend entered as bone stock without modifications. I'm embracing the beater theme this year. She is a very solid driver at this point. To quote one of my favorite characters, from one of my favorite films: "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts."
  5. I'm a smoker and have hated it for years. You've inpired me, Don. I don't think I could ever go cold turkey, but I'm going to cut down now, in an effort to cut it out entirely within the short term. Thank you for posting. You are not alone and you have people rooting for you, and proud of you.
  6. Looks good to me. If you make it 10 hours and nothing flies off, then we will know.
  7. Pete posted a thread a while back that might be of some help: Just kidding. Wishing you a safe trip.
  8. We are ready to have you. Man, that is quite a load. Are all the crates packed in the pic?
  9. Oh, man! Can't wait. I checked, and registration online is open until the end of the day on July 14, and you can register the day of the show in person. It's $50 for one person to show a vehicle for the weekend (both Saturday and Sunday), plus a $1 fee for registering online. Add a passenger for $5 a day, kids under 15 are free. Use 'Comanche Club' as the club affiliation when signing up. Website: https://pajeepshow.regfox.com/2018-participants I just registered my 91, so I will be there for sure. Sounds like Bonkers is showing is truck, and I have all the faith in the world that Alexia will finish that list. One or two members have spots in the vendor area, and I'm sure more will show up. Calling all members - if you're in the mid-atlantic and your MJ can make it to York, PA, show up and represent. Park next to mine and possibly win best in show.
  10. I'm not sure how many guys from the club are entering trucks in the show. I think Alexia might be. Maybe. There's usually several club members with MJs there. I could enter my 91 in a beater class I guess. How many other members are entering trucks? Because I might, and if I do, your paint job will look awesome compared to mine. Everybody is definitely going to be at the show. There aren't any four wheeling trips or meet and greets outside of the show that I know of. Except what krusty has arranged as far as selling the parts he's bringing because he isn't getting a swap meet spot this year. So who is entering their MJ?
  11. July 2018: Unboxing and New Shoes I haven't really done much with Ghost over the past couple of weeks until yesterday. Just been looking at the truck, and contemplating build plans. The 4WD conversion is a certainty, but I'm up in the air as to whether to go with an AX-15 or AW4. I knew that the Leer topper was going somewhere else, as the plan was to hunt forever for a SWB factory rollbar. As luck would have it, krustyballer16 was able to pick one up at Big Johnson Jeeps in Indiana, and will be bringing it east with him for the All Breeds Jeep Show in York, PA in two weeks. This club is awesome - the best people ever. Here's a shot of the rollbar at krusty's place: So I sold the Leer topper to Mossmj, who came by yesterday to pick it up. Really nice to meet him, and his fiancee. They were really nice. So, I had to clean out the back of the truck. So I finally dug into the swag that terrawombat sent back with me. Totally hooked me up. A factory original hitch, one of the first ones krusty built, full set of Felpro gaskets, clutch master and slave cylinders, front bumper, tow hooks and brackets, ZJ hood vents, a brand new truck cover, sun visors and interior plastics and more: So I got the topper off, and Mossmj was happy and on his way. And I got my first real look at the bed. It looks pretty rough, but it's mostly just scratched up. There are some sizable dings and dents, and a small hole cut in the floor towards the rear, but not bad at all. And no rot: As luck would have it, I had an extra SWB bed liner here. This one is an OEM over-the-rail Perndaliner stamped model and came with Silver Star when I bought her. I switched that one over to an OEM under-the-rail COMANCHE stamped liner, so I had this one here to put in: The tailgate cover won't go on with the diamond plate on the back of the tailgate. Will deal with that some other time. So here's the first look at Ghost without a topper in a number of years: I'm going to eventually put Turbine wheels on her, probably wrapped in 31x10.5x15 BFG A/Ts. The tires on Ghost were 30x9.5x15 Goodyear Wranglers, and two were in great shape and two were at end of life. I had recently taken off of the 2004 TJ a set of five Ravine wheels and new Goodyear Wrangler 235/75/15 tires. The PO painted them black, poorly, but the tires are new. So I decided to switch them up. The lug nuts were absolutely nasty and rusted. Luckily, HOrnbrod sent me some nice new lugs in trade for the LSV from Silver Star last year. Finally put them to use. Man they look good compared to what I pulled off: So here's a shot of Ghost with the black Ravines sporting 235s and no topper. This is how she sits today. I really don't like the black wheel and tire look on this truck, but we've got new rubber, which is nice: With the All Breeds Jeep show coming in two weeks, I'm hoping I might be able to pick up a few parts for her. Maybe some stuff to do the 4WD conversion or new fenders and doors. We'll see. Thanks for reading.
  12. It really is a great truck, and I appreciate very much everything you did to make the deal happen. I did hit a five mile backup going east back across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, and was sweating it just a bit. She made it all the way back before I could feel any difference in the clutch at all. And it was exactly 100 miles away, which I thought was odd. I just got some work done yesterday, about to post a build update. It's going to take a long time to get the truck where I'd like it to be, but it's going to be really fun getting there. You really took care of it well, and I thank you for that.
  13. Tailgate in excellent shape (willing to trade a decent one plus cash) - white (PW7) would be awesome; MJ D44 in 4.10 that does not need to be rebuilt - bad brakes OK; External slave XJ AX-15 plus NP231 in good shape; MJ Front driveshaft (4.0L/AX-15); NP231 floor shifter linkage for AX-15; Black or grey interior pieces including bucket seats; White MJ/XJ fenders and doors in excellent shape; 5 turbine wheels (willing to trade 5 ravine wheels that somebody painted black with new 235/75 GY Wranglers on four of them); Looking for two factory bull bars - the smaller standard ones - have to be straight; 2 courtesy lights in chrome with good clips; Probably more... I think there will be enough club members in town that weekend from the club that whatever you bring, if it's decent and desirable, somebody will probably buy it. All kind of cool stuff is going on. It's like everybody is using this as a free-for-all to meet up and swap or sell all the big stuff we can't ship. Thinking about letting people camp at my place. I've got a quiet acre in the suburbs about 10 minutes from the fairgrounds. Nothing definite yet, but would anybody need a place to crash?
  14. Yes! I'll be there early with cash.
  15. $250, it's sold to Mossmj.
  16. NO LONGER SEARCHING: Thanks to krustyballer16, I've got a factory SWB rollbar on it's way to later this month. I'm going to offer the topper for sale to the couple of members that PMed about it, and if it doesn't sell to one of them, I'll list it in the For Sale forum.
  17. Glad to hear it went well, and you're liking the Rubicon shocks. If you have any questions regarding the JL when the time comes, let me know. The JK and JL are very similar looking from a distance. The syling changes from JK to JL remind me quite a bit of what happened when Jeep went from the YJ to the TJ.
  18. Hey there club members. I've received several private messages from members interested in buying the SBW Leer topper that I am looking to trade for a factory SWB rollbar. I've just replied to those private messages. There are pics in the build thread for my 92 of the topper for those of you that want to see pics: I am not willing to sell the topper on it's own at this time. I am looking to trade somewhere in the Mid-Atlantic arrea with a club member who has a factory SWB rollbar, plus cash on my end, if necessary. When I obtain a rollbar, if the topper is still available, I will post it for sale here on this site. Thank you very much for understanding.
  19. I talked to ARB about OME for the JL. They are about one year away from having a system for that platform. The Rubicon springs are nice on the JK. Will serve you well.
  20. I have a 2013 JKU Rubicon. When I bought it new in 2013 the stock suspension was exacly what you're looking to put on. I also had a 2008 JKU Sahara, so I have some basis for comparisson as to what you have now. I just put the OME 2" suspension lift on my Rubicon this past January to replace the original stock suspension. You will find the Rubicon suspension provides a firmer ride that feels more responsive over the Sahara suspension. I don't recall it being a huge difference when I switched from the Sahara to the Rubicon, but it was firmer/stiffer. The OME is like butter. The Rubicon suspension is not on the same level. I got the Rubicon for the 4.10 gearing so I could go to 35s with it. I went with flat fenders so I could do that with the OME 2" suspension. Like butter. No regrets. Worth every penny.
  21. I'd go crazy if I didn't have a bunch of these projects to keep my mind off work on the weekends. The stable is full, though. Couldn't do another even if I wanted to.
  22. Those look great. I had excellent results recently on an interior panel. I used SEM Color Coat in an effort to color match AMC black. This looks similar. My experience with the SEM was that it went on more like a dye than paint.
  23. Finally got around to this today. I want to thank everyone who replied with links, advice and a confidence boost. All in all I say this is a very easy install and anybody could do it with the right tools following good instructions. The one essential tool to get for the job is a heavy duty pair of lock ring pliers. Before: During: And installed. I will have to adjust the pinion angle on the D35, but can't do that until the tub is back on and weight added: The difference:
  24. Thank you. I will try my best to build her back up the way she deserves.
  25. Thanks for the input. You guys confirmed everything I thought I knew. Based on my experience deleting the LSV on my 91, I'm going to replace all the rear hard lines and wheel cylinders before I mess with it. Then I plan on getting it installed correctly just to verify it works, then I'm going to delete it.
