That's what I figured, but you never know with this Renix stuff.

What gauge jumper wire would be best?
-
Yeah, I did Crusier's grounding stuff. I also cleaned the heck out that C101, but it didn't take long to get really gummed up again. I should delete that thing too. I was unaware that you could bypass the ballast resistor. I'll look for the write-up on that. Thanks Pete

I had done a lot of work on my (88 Renix) truck in 2022. Replaced almost the entire fuel system due to leaks. Anyway, it sat for almost a year due to time and money issues. Got out two days ago and started working at it again. It was just not starting, but it cranks strong. Skipping ahead, I decided to open up the electrical box on the firewall, the 101 I think?, sprayed it with electrical cleaned, closed it up and it cranked and started like nothing was wrong. Drove it one day, no issues. It's 35 degrees this morning and now it won't start, but does crank. I can hear the fuel pump running and I do have fuel to the rail but, pressing the relief valve doesn't spray everywhere. Just a small spray and then a trickle. This leads me back to the fuel pump. Can a drop in outside temps cause a weak fuel pump to become weaker? Can warm weather cause it to become stronger?

I know these are still available to purchase, however, do we have any members who could machine them from aluminum? My plastic ones keep breaking.

Cool, Pete.

Thank you!

@89 MJ Is there a list on CC of wheels that fit MJ's like stock without the use of spacers or other mods required to use them? Any idea? There are a crap-ton of wheel threads to search. Thought you might be able to pinpoint something.

This tread make me sad. My turbines are so jacked, beat-up and covered with brake dust that my fronts look black. Power washing does almost nothing to them. Resto looks like such a big job, I don't know where to start. I have guy who can powder coat for me. I just need to blast them first. They won't look original, but they would look much nicer. And @87 MJ Chief, if you even get a day off and can drive 45 mins to my place, I'd love your help getting mine running again. I've had to borrow my mother-in-law's Nissan Frontier to get around. It's a nice 2014 with, working A/C, comfy seats, SAT radio, rides quiet too. But, it's not my MJ. My wife has hinted for me to sell it without coming right out and saying it. I can't do it! It has so much potential! I build custom wood tables and whatnot for a living. Maybe we can work out a trade for your time? -

Thanks for all the info, Nick. Sorry my reply is so late, something is going on with the Comanche Club site or my aging Mac, but I cannot log in without having to change my password every time. Anyway, that's that. I had found the Start Test, but couldn't figure out what is does. Do you have a video on that procedure? Just like with the buttons, I'm sure it's easy, I just get really frustrated with tech in my old age. -
So, Crusier54, what is the advantage of dropping/replacing the Renix ecm and adding the HEI distro?

@NickInTimeFilms, were you able to glean any info from my video? Also, is there a suggested outlet/path to run the cable through the cab? -

Haha! I'm trying to figure out why it is mirrored. Never seen that before. -

Well, I found "Engine No-Start", but from there I couldn't figure out what to do. I didn't see any testing happening or passing during crank and no list to scroll down afterwards. To me, it wasn't intuitive. I'm sure I am looking for this box function in ways it can't function. I'm left-handed and right-brained, I suck at math and reading schematics. I can't even get an amplifier hooked into my stock radio because my brain turns to goo when I see all those numbers and lines. However, if you ever need a bowl carved from a log or a table made from a slab of wood then, I'm your guy! Some of the info I get, but nothing showing me why I am having really loooooong crank times, occasional stalling and a rough idle when in park. That info may be there, but I missed it. VIDEO REMOVED DUE TO TECHNICAL ERROR Lastly, it did finally catch and start and was running through the vid. The basic issue is a long regular engine turnover, a sudden bog down like the battery is dead, and then it starts. Go figure. -

Cool! I know you have a lot going on and need this right now, however, I really appreciate it. -

Ok. I can't find "Sensor Tests". Is there better documentation somewhere? I watched "What is Renix Engine Monitor Demo" vid, but no info. -

All great info to remember. Thank you! I'll do the "No-Start Tester" later today and post the results here. -

Just to be clear, you asked for it. So, I have an inconsistent crank but no start condition that is driving me insane. All of my fuel delivery components are new from earlier this year. I understand that "new" doesn't always mean working. Started and ran fine until the weather started getting colder. Battery was five years old, replaced it due to sluggish performance and age. Issue was better, but not solved. Difficult to crank in the morning, no issues for the day after first start. Took it to a garage and they could not reproduce the issue. Sat there for a week. They did clean the IAC based on a hunch, but still no bueno. Did some searches here for similar posts and that led me to ordering the REM II v5 from @NickInTimeFilms because the other posts I found were all over the place and I was hoping Nick's REM would really help me focus in on the problem. The images below are all with the engine off and cold. Two lit the "dummy light", and even though I am a dummy, I don't know what it's telling me. Could the yellow light flags be part of the no start? Universally, what does "r" and "m" mean on the left of the screens? I haven't been able to find "IAT" or "iO" in the manual. If there is a source that breaks down what's on the screens, please share. I have not found it yet. I know I can get the hang of it after a bit of hand-holding. -

Yeah, Nick, I'm looking at it now and will be posting images soon as my brain is not wired to understand these "cryptic" messages. -

Woohoo!!! I got it! Pretty well made by @NickInTimeFilms. Not installed yet. I may sand it a little to get the printer marks off. -
