  1. The engineering firm I'm at has made the decision to stop all meetings immediately and after Wednesday we will be working from home.
  2. Even with a carry permit?? Another reason I don't live in Cali.
  3. That appears to be a fuel tank pump assembly hole plug. You making a kit to run an inline fuel pump?
  4. ^^thats crazy. What does a gun shop do when they sell out of firearms in a day or two? They can't get more in that quickly. I went to FleetFarm on Friday to look at ammo prices and the 5.56 and .223 was completely wiped out aside from some of the most expensive hunting/competition loads. The 1000rd bulk boxes were gone even. Typical 6-8shot game loads of 12ga were also pretty much picked clean. Surprised to see tho that most of the handgun ammo and 00Buck in 12ga was on sale but looked untouched.
  5. Funny how that works isn't it? I bet yesterday they were protesting to ban them. No offense to you or your friends, just making a point.
  6. Yeah pinion is untouched. It took about a hundred tries to get the backlash itself within spec/back to where it was, it really liked to favor the tight side of things and when torquing the adjusters to spec it of course changes everything. With the pattern not running off the heel I am also thinking it's okay. It's a low pinion axle and from some research, I gathered that the low pinion design tends to walk outward of the ring gear due to its design. This pattern would make sense given these gears are used.
  7. Original backlash was between .006 and .007 as well and the pattern on the coast side matches the original pictures. I very much appreciate the advice. I'm just a dummy and didn't get pictures of the drive side apparently.
  8. I think what most people don't realize is that in the US, people generally avoid the doctor as much as possible. The symptoms of Covid-19 is similar to the flu or the common cold so it can go unnoticed. For every person that is a confirmed case, the could be a dozen cases not confirmed. For all we know, there could be millions of people in the US already infected and we don't know it because either they don't go to the doctor, or the doctor/hospital doesn't have a test kit, which most don't. The alarming part is how fast it's mutating. Us young healthy people may think we are in the clear, but any of these mutations can quickly cause major problems for us. The more it spreads, the more likely a more serious mutation can happen.
  9. So I have my C8.25 back together finally after putting an LSD carrier in it. Proper specs: Backlash .006-.008 I'm reading between .006-.007 depending on where measuring on the ring gear which is within spec. The FSM says to use the lowest reading so according to that, my backlash is .006. The mesh on the coast side of the teeth is dead center. This is my mesh pattern on the drive side. What I'm seeing is it's slightly to the outside of center. The correction for that is to decrease backlash (move ring gear closer to pinion) but to maintain minimum backlash spec. My question is, I'm already at the bottom of spec for backlash so should I touch it or is it acceptable? I can't go closer without going under spec. It's focused just outside center. I took pictures prior to disassembly but stupidly only have pictures of the coast side..
  10. I was also wondering how long it would go without mention. Central Iowa, no toilet paper anywhere. Everything is still easy to find but some stores are starting to limit water, coffee, and bulk groceries. Gas has dropped to $1.75 a gallon ($1.71 with FleetFarm coupon) which is nice. Most businesses are starting to tell people to work from home and limiting visitors. On another note, I too was quite sceptical about this whole thing until I got some legitimate information that this is actually worse than it's being broadcast. We have a good friend in Iowa City who is directly involved with the virus vaccine research. The strain being seen in the US is completely different than what is overseas. It's mutating quite rapidly and they are very concerned about the delay in response in the US. He wasn't able to give us too much detail but said the state borders should have been closed weeks ago and at the rate we are going, it's going to get bad. I know some of you won't believe it, don't care, think it's a conspiracy, ECT. But think about your family and what could happen. It's better to be prepared and not need it, than need it and not have it.
  11. Went and picked up the axle tonight. Perches are all welded, hopefully will get paint on it and start installing if all goes well this weekend.
  12. Agree with the above. You will absolutely get your money back and then some. People pay a lot for a D44.
  13. The VIN you posted is only 16 digits instead of the normal 17.
  14. I'm pretty sure the wiper mechanisms are the same from 84' to 01' except for the power plug change in 97'.

I've wondered about honey, just never tried. Do you use it?
  16. You'd still only have the front accessed through the longer door. I had a 2dr XJ and it was so much nicer to have the big door compared to the smaller ones on a 4dr. Basically all 4 doors can be the longer 2dr doors. That is a possible solution for the rear floor. You'd have to dump the exhaust towards the front and mount the gas tank under the rear to gain the room inside the frame rails.

5% off. 13247597590359988 Just got this code, good until May 10. Of course I get it after ordering almost $300 worth of parts...
  18. Interesting concept. Although I'd recommend stretching the front doors to accept the factory XJ 2doors. Would be less fab work as you are already splicing the cabs together in that area. May even need to stretch the rear doors as well because you'd have a lot of area to fill with a long bed. One major issue that I have no idea how you'd overcome, the frame rails come up behind the cab, meaning the floor would also have to come up and eliminating anywhere to put your feet. Would be easier to remove the rear seats and put in a flat floor to make a Jeep XJ/MJ cargo van.
  19. At 65mph in 5th gear it'll be running right around 2600rpm according to the math.
  20. Looking in from the rear side it looked good. Solid with no cracking so fingers crossed.
  21. Thanks, that's reassuring! I never looked into it but remember reading somewhere that those can't be cut down.
  22. Realized my fabricator buddy is only 30mins from me so he picked up the axle tonight. I'll be picking it up from home either tomorrow or Wednesday so this weekend I should be tearing the rear end out of the truck!! On a less than thrilling note, I figured I'd have to have my driveshaft shortened a couple inches but realized it's got the double walled driveshaft so I may need to have a new shaft built. I'm going to talk to the driveshaft shop and see if they can do anything with it and what a new shaft would cost.
  23. Wow that is a nice reference! I will be bookmarking this. Thanks for posting.
  24. So far I've found a tweet that says it's on the National Transcontinental Railway and is in Hearst, Ontario in 1911. http://imagescn.techno-science.ca/railways/index_choice.cfm?id=49&photoid=93825910
  25. I'd really love to know the story behind this one. I may start doing some digging.
