  1. Make sure the ballast resistor is not an open circuit. Ohmmeter across the ballast. (1.1 to 1.4 ohms).
  2. Yea, diesel emissions is a different world.
  3. Don't think EGR deals with NOx. NOx shows up when running lean.
  4. If its a new battery, may be faulty.
  5. Can you read OBD codes? Do you have "Check Engine" lamp? Found this link, maybe you did too. http://www.myazcar.com/obd-check-engine-light
  6. Swap the headlamps (L to R, R to L) and see if the problem follows the headlamps. Could determine if its a passenger side wiring issue.
  7. Since I don't know, is it opened or closed cooling system?
  8. MAP, CTS, MAT & TPS all use ECU outputted 5 volts.
  9. CTS (ECT) uses the 5 volt reference.
  10. R U A V6, if so, I don't see no DTC's posted for a 3rd cat.
  11. Could a harness "wiggle test" help here at idle?
  12. Two thoughts (guesses) here: loose throttle plate faulty motor mount
  13. My "keyless entry" search only finds keyless entry. Seems to be working fine for me. Tried searching both 'signed in' and 'signed out', same results.
  14. Are you going to sell all your chrome ashtrays?
  15. Info taken from online auto parts, can't say how accurate it is. 1987 Comanche 2.1L 126Cu. In. l4 DIESEL SOHC Turbocharged Laredo 2.5L 150Cu. In. l4 GAS OHV Laredo 4.0L 242Cu. In. l6 GAS OHV Laredo 1988 Comanche 2.5L 150Cu. In. l4 GAS OHV Laredo 4.0L 242Cu. In. l6 GAS OHV Laredo
  16. Looks like a great trip, great pictures. Luckily you didn't need the services of Jamie Davis (Highway Thru Hell) reality TV.
  17. Click here: Go to page 71
  18. Does the fuel injector dump fuel during CRANK? CPS related question.
  19. Did you move your distributor lately? If so, check indexing. Also, could be cross fire in the distributor cap during advanced timing situation (upper RPM's).
  20. Check for loose starter bolts.
  21. 2 pin connector is for a manual trans. NSS (gear selector switch) is for the automatic, located on the transmission.
  22. Both 2.5L & 4.0L show B/U switch located on the transmission. 2 pin connector. Add your vehicle stats to your signature.
  23. Don't know if all the available addresses are available on the REM. Even if the address for ADV Timing was, it would be difficult to read during engine transit conditions. The MIN/MAX function might help (DRB has this) but the display would just flash and blink values. Steady state values would read just fine, but not what you're looking for. A strip chart recorder would show you everything you need. Kind of like a DVOM vs a Simpson meter.
  24. Considering the ECU uses a 'Speed Density' system for fuel/timing lookup values and A/F ratio doesn't seem to be the issue, then perhaps your losing engine timing (advance) during your city drive cycles.
