  1. What do you reckon all that upfitting would cost? $15k plus the cost of a truck, plus know-how (that I don't have)? Would the 4.0 fit in one, or a J truck?
  2. I wonder if it flexes normally, or if they beefed up the uniframe.
  3. The "troughs" are the foot wells from the rear seat. I would've put a hinged lid over those, like the compartment in the back of the Honda Ridgeline. I knew those seats came out of a Dodge, but I didn't know if it was a Dakota, or a Ram.
  4. Here is a link to advice for new Niva owners. http://www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter/resources/newbies.htm
  5. It looks like they were still putting the crank hole in the front bumper in '96 as well.
  6. Letchworth state park is nice. I think somebody rents RVs in New York, but I don't know where.
  7. Does the Canadian market speedometer go past 85 on the inside, or was there some similar legislation to limit the speeds on speedometers there as well? I know that US speedometers go to 85 on the outside, and I know that in Canada km/h is on the outside after they went metric.
  8. He wants to remove the door glass, not the windshield.
  9. Would it be possible to make ones own, if they had the parts and knew how to lay up fiberglass?
  10. I have no idea if the door mount mirrors were factory or not. The shaft on the driver's side mirror being farther back, must allow it to clear the dashboard, as if it was a mirror-image of the passenger's side trim, it would hit the side of the gauge cluster.
  11. My dad was looking at an 1988 Comanche Pioneer, because it was a nice looking truck on the outside, but decided against it, as it was a plow truck which is brutal on the suspension, drive train, and frame, and an '88. It was on craigslist in PA, but somebody bought it before we could see it. It ended up on eBay, as they guy who bought it, is now selling it. The person who sold it first wasn't truthful in their description, as the 2nd buyer showed more pictures of it, including of rust and of the interior. My dad didn't make the connection that they were both the same truck, until I mentioned the way the front bumper was mounted in front of the plow parts, and the way the front suspension sagged. The interior looked really nice except for the steering wheel, which was coming apart at the stitching. Would a ratty leather-wrapped steering wheel at 120K miles be normal for these trucks and do the PA safety inspection requirements include a working speedometer/odometer? I know that pre-'91 speedometers/odometers are cable driven which means they can't work intermittently. Would a ratty leather-wrapped steering wheel be a sign of the vehicle having more than 120K miles?
  12. Now the question is, will it fit in a Comanche?
  13. I didn't know that they made a remote adjustable driver's side mirror for these.
  14. Same Here, as I like the look of the idiot cluster better, as the style fits the look of dash more. Column Shift autos only came with the idiot lights.
  15. Do you remember if the cigarette lighter panel was blank, of if it had just the socket installed and not the lighter element? It had a blank plate, but the wiring for the lighter was tucked into the dash So it would be possible to "Junkyard Option" one in easily enough, if a power socket was needed.
  16. He might want to look into putting weight into the bed, over the rear axle.
  17. Do you remember if the cigarette lighter panel was blank, of if it had just the socket installed and not the lighter element?
  18. I was wonder if the rear door armrests from the Cherokee were the same as the base Comanche door ones, as I think that the rear door armrests on the Cherokee were rectangular.
  19. Must of "splurged" then, as both are listed as options in the '87 brochure, as well as an AM only radio for the base truck.
  20. You could probably buy a K-Car with that.
  21. It looks like a really stripped down model, and that a bear attacked the hatch.
