1989 Comanche Build "flooded"
Dirteatr717 replied to TyeT's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
You don't want 1ton leafs... It better to have 6 really thin leaves in a pack then 3 or 4 thick ones and a couple thin ones... If your only using the truck for trails I'd do a soa and get adj arms up front until you can afford any 3link or ylink longarm kit for the front, right now I have a soa and 4.5" coils with a 2" puck on top netting about a 6.5" lift all around... It flexes awesome with longarms! I have my little 30s on right now  -
Made a new front shaft, rebuilt my old double cardan and then cut apart 2 different shafts and made one good one :) pics to come shortly! Best part was that it was all FREE! Tested it out yesterday and it works great! Also had a chance to take a quick trip through some trails by my house with a friend, I was leading and I saw him stop to go flex on the ledge to the right of his xj and I just kept chugging along and I waited at the trailhead about a football field ahead of him, I waited for a few mins and came back to him laying it on it's side so I pulled him back over and limped it home.

I'll give you $11 for it  Nice score dude!

Need a new front driveshaft!
Dirteatr717 replied to Dirteatr717's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I picked my friends old lengthened front shaft for the price of flipping his jeep back over hahaha, it should be going in the truck bright an early and hopefully do a U-joint and axle seal :wrench: -
I can hear those axles crying from new York! What is that guy thinking!?
-
I blew my stock front driveshaft up the other night, it needed to be lengthened 2.5-3" to ensure full spline engagement but I was wondering if I could use another jeeps front driveshaft that would fit almost perfect instead of paying lots of mula for a Tom woods one or something. I have a 4.0,ax-15,231, 6.5" of lift and Clayton longarms. The longarms gave me a 3" stretch up front! Any help is appreciated! -Nick

Picked up a set crappy 33" all terrains to get me by until I can afford some real rubber, still need to get the front shaft lengthened, trim my front fenders even more and pickup some super duper extended brakelines then all should be good for awhile! Miss driving my truck so much :( soon enough shell be on the road again

Between the earthquakes, tropical storms, hurricanes and being on a island next to NYC with enough traffic problems I don't think I'd make it out of here alive if a really bad natural disaster were to happen. My parents fiddled with the idea of moving to Colorado! my dreamland! I mean besides a decent amount of fluffy snow whats the worst that can happen? I liek snow!

Got to test out my arms the other night! I really need a lengtend front shaft and longer brakelines, the front shaft fell out on a tipsy hill climb  Just a flex test on my neighbors driveway And here's the only pic I have so far from a night trail ride, I could've fit another 33" tire in the wheel well can't wait to see my truck at it's full potential

Thanks for teasing me! One day I'll take a trip out there
