  1. Does that hand belong to someone we know?
  2. That qualifies as a totally worthwhile answer from the gentleman from the rattlesnake state.
  3. Where is the committee? Someone help this guy out.
  4. More pics!
  5. No question here but thought someone might benefit from this: I took my 89 MJ to a glass shop that locates leaks as well as replaces glass. A little leak has rusted through a sizeable hole in the passenger side floor pan. They explained that it may or my not be around the windshield. Their procedure is to spray foam along the outside edge of the windshield and then blow air along the inside edge of the windshield. If there is a leak, the foam on the outside will bubble. The cause of the leak in my case is there was no grommet in the hole that the antenna wire goes throw. Hope the procedure and check of the grommet might help someone.
  6. Is that a full set of turbines?
  7. Nice truck. Great backyard view. If you are the original owner, there is a thread for that if you would like to post there.
  8. Someone did a good job. It would be nice to see one look more like a traditional Comanche. Are those fender flairs custom made? If so, out of what.? What is purpose of the verticle strips above the drip rails? Any guess how much was spent?
  9. Did he say what became of the rest of the truck?
  10. I will move from Virginia Beach, VA which is right on the Atlantic Ocean to Montana less than 10 minutes from the West entrance to Glacier National Park for the winter. The coldest temperature recorded in the US was -70F in 1954 in Montana. The Continental Divide runs through Glacier National Park. Although I will probably be 10 miles west as the crow flies, temperatures get lower on the east side. Just east of the divide, an area gets 100 feet of snow per year on average. Where I will be gets 81 inches on average. Although average lows where i will be are not as extreme, advisories state to expect lows of -10 to -50. Evidently-35F is not unusual to the east. I expect to buy a GMC suv with awd before I drive the 2500 mile trip. I have no experience with engine heaters other than what I have read.
  11. I will be moving to a much colder climate and have read that when temperatures are lower than 5 degrees F, radiator fluid gels and oil becomes very thick. For protection of the engine before it warms up, there are various heaters that warm the block, or warm the oil. Has anyone here installed, or had installed, anything other than the simple ones that temporarily replace the dip stick?
  12. $4,500 Canadian = $3,274 US. From the looks of the truck, you might have gotten the best deal ever!
  13. What is the grill from above the large door?

I am curious about choices of backpacks chosen by those that enjoy going out in the wild and being self reliant. I have an ARC'TERYX that I bought 20 years ago and like it. It is stable on my back and does not sway on uneven terrain. A major benefit I think. It has an internal frame (a boring topic) and lacks external pockets on the sides but has a large pouch on the bottom with side pouches so you can get to a few things without having to open the whole pack. The top has a large detachable pouch that can be used as a fanny pack for a short hike after setting camp. Others have packs they like and willing to offer a few words about them? Any comments of water filters is also appreciated.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and your enthusiasm for the great outdoors. There is a good book for anyone that has hiked the AT, hiked many other places or never hiked at all. Well written. Will have you laughing. Will have you pondering how you fit in the world and relate to family and friends. "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson is easily available on Amazon. A word of caution when ordering books: I did not know that we do NOT have copyright laws regarding book titles in the US until a couple of months ago. I ordered "Grapes of Wrath" and had it sent to a couple of friends who had never read it. When I asked how they liked the book, they made comments about the plot that were not right. Long story short: I had intended to send the great American work by John Steinbeck written in 1939 following migrant workers during the Great Depression. Another lesser known work by Boyd Cable, was written using the same name in 1917 about WWI in France. So now, when I look for a book title, I also look for the author. On a return trip to Baxter state park, you might check out Wassatauquoik Lake and trail. Make sure to see Green Falls. You will need to use one of the canoes there to paddle to the falls. Make reservations months early; they limit the number of people that can enter because of a wilderness covenant that was set up when Governor Baxter gave the land for the park to the state of Maine.
  16. Target market buyer: FMC may have decided that many potential buyers are priced out of the F-150 market; not everyone has $60K for a new truck or wants to pay that even if they do. Although the Ranger is less, it is still more than some might want to pay. Before this truck, FMC did not have an entry for the lower price market buyer. The company may be using variable cost for setting the selling price; materials and labor included but factory overhead costs excluded. Soooo, if they want to offer a lower cost truck but not give away the store and interfere with Ranger sales, they would want to limit some features intentionally. In this case the bed was shortened. At 40mpg, gas savings wipe out a big part of a payment. Another example of not giving away the store is with the cost of your ISP. It cost no more for the ISP to provide speed at a higher price than at a lower speed. In fact, the ISP intentionally cuts the speed back to offer a lower cost alternative. The consumer cast $ votes. Those with more money that want more and bigger features already have those choices. For the average tuck owner, excluding work trucks, what percent of the miles driven is with an empty bed?
  17. Yes, volts, not amps. The engine runs as it should when bypassed. Apparently the part is not correct and the correct one is not available. Bypass wins.
  18. While the starter is still whining and spinning, turn the key off and right back on. A few times and the bendix may engage It won't do the starter any good but it might do what you need for now.
  19. I read that and thought what is the gentleman from Prescott throwing at me with POS? Power Operating System? WTF does he mean? Ah hah! An expansive sense of humor coming from the rattlesnake state.
  20. It starts and will continue if given gas but if it will not idle and shuts off. Multiple tries and it does the samething.
  21. 1.1 with the ohm symbol is imprinted on the old one. And a string of numbers that I assume are serial numbers. There is no marking at all on the new one. I ordered the one that Eagle's link above shows. The box does not indicate an OHM rating. The box shows the part to be RU38 made by Standard. I went to their site, standardbrand. com. It does not give a rating either but lists it as an "ignition coil resistor". Wrong part maybe? https://www.standardbrand.com/en/ecatalog?part=RU-38 - Ignition Coil Resistor&type=p I went to "CHECK YOUR FIT" and it states that it does not fit an 89 Comanche with 4.0, I Googled what a fuel pump resistor does. I did not find anything MJ specific but there are comments about dropping the voltage from 12amp to 10amps.. That would generate heat of course which the part is intended to dissipate.
  22. I installed the Rock Auto part. Engine will start and run at half throttle but cuts off at idle. Wrong sized replacement resistor?
  23. Does the Icefield Parkway (described as one of the most scenic in Canada) stay open in the winter? This is in your backyard?
  24. Thanks for your comments, gogmo. No one is better positioned to know that than a man living in the Canadian Rockies.
