Scuff with a red Scotchbrite to smooth down the flakes enough and paint with plastic spray paint. I recommend clearing with matte clear coat to look more factory to protect from further flaking.

Relocation of Renix 4.0 vacuum canister
ARareBreed replied to meljr's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
My Comanche has the large "squash" sized canister, Can I install this smaller "ball" sized canister and be fine? -
I saw that type of answer coming. I'll stick with a mech/elec combo then. Thanks for the help.

I am adding a 10 blade electrical fan to my MJ that currently runs JUST a 7 blade mechanical. Hey, the wiring is already there for the electrical so why not add one? Would it be worth my time to remove the mechanical and add dual electric by wiring each fan in series to the factory wiring? I'm not having cooling issues, but I would like more HP (even if its not noticeable, less engine load can't hurt). I haven't quite found a straight answer on the G machine.

I'll see yall there!

Anyone going this year? I've never been to this show and I'd like to meet some other Comanche's.

People ask $300 for a pair of tail lights which I honestly think is outrageous.

703 injectors for 92 4 liter?
ARareBreed replied to 1989 comanche mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I also did hours and hours of research on injectors before typing in my credit card number. I found the 703s are the best 4 hole upgrade you can do to a stock 4.0HO engine between 91-96. You'll be spending between $110-$130 on eBay. Don't go by what is typed into the listing, I don't trust them. Use the pictures, all 703s are black and have the P/N on the side of the injector. -

My Jeep was factory Dana 35 but had 5 leafs. 3 of the leafs have rebound clips where the other 2 were too short to have a rebound clips. it looked like everything was factory. Explain that Eagle! -

MJ 2wd to 4x4 conversion
ARareBreed replied to lcoutback's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I know the Renix 4.0 which is 1987-1990 is significantly different from the non-renix 1991-1992 4.0 high output engines. As for mounting, wiring and whatnot I am not too sure (MAYBE SOMEONE CAN CHIME ON HERE). Don't get anything other than the 4.0 (even if it is Renix), the v6 engines and 2.5l i4 are $#!& power for the Comanche. -
MJ 2wd to 4x4 conversion
ARareBreed replied to lcoutback's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would put ALLLLL the guts and wiring from your totaled 91xj into the Comanche. The Renix style Comanche is unfavorable compared to 91+. To simply answer your question, the 4x4 swap will be a plug and play from the transfer case forward. Although the leafs are different widths apart from XJ to MJ (which is only concerning if you are doing a rear end swap), you'll be fine for what you'll need. No need to put the XJ rear end into the MJ. -
I have this exact setup too. I freakin' love it!

Changing the tail light bulbs
ARareBreed replied to madog7200's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am keeping generic factory bulbs. -
I did hours and hours of research before getting my 4 hole Bosch injectors for my 4.0HO. I learned 0280155703 injectors are optimal for the 4.0HO.

Break the bolts loose first, support the engine by separating the weight evenly (wood plank on the oil pan), remove the mounts.

Did my no-A/C MJ ever have an aux. fan?

Did my no-A/C MJ ever have an aux. fan?
ARareBreed replied to 8valvehero's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This thread was the best chance of answering my question to no avail. I will continue this thread to ask my Q! I want to add factory aux fan to my MJ for additional cooling in traffic. I'm not interested in wiring a switch in the cabin since the aux fan is controlled by A/C and the coolant temperature sensor (that should be good enough for what I want). Since the connector is already there behind the driver headlight I'd like to just install the aux fan assembly. If I add a fuse and relay to the my fuse box (see below) will everything work as it should? -
Changing the tail light bulbs
ARareBreed replied to madog7200's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just cleaned the yellow goo out of my sockets last night and replaced with the same quantity of this stuff: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Gardner-Bender-1-oz-Ox-Gard-Anti-Oxidant-Compound/4514334 Will it work, or should I redo it with different style grease? -
Found one at the yard I went to this weekend.

That's where the cruise module would go! Not all people can put it there. I'd personally mount it on the top of the hump right behind the coolant overflow bottle just before it dips into the point of no return (aka where the firewall meets the fender well near the blower motor.)

AX15 swap, t case vacuum line questions
ARareBreed replied to 895XJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes. Depending on the wiring of your manche, I'd just add an electric switch and connect to the black/red tracer wire in the engine bay above the blower motor near the firewall. Does your D30 have vacuum disco?
