You also may want to be careful because a lot of state have made it illegal to put an older drive-train in a newer vehicle, so the next inspection may be a bit difficult. To get the truck to pass, unless the inspector is completely inept.. :redX:

If you want to haul fire wood the MJ is probably not the truck for you, as it is fairly small. You might consider getting an old Power Wagon or J truck or even dare i say...chevy. :dunno: Also that truck looks dangerous, if you have any intentions of driving it on-road i would go through EVERYTHING, which would be very expensive...

best place to get replacement carpet and headliner

I got mine out of a C4C XJ. You will have to trim the back, but otherwise a good fit. -
If it's rust free, then it's worth every penny & more. Definitely worth a look.

Name that Tune in "x" Notes? (Audio of Engine!)
Dave Stark replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do the 4.0's have hydraulic lifter tappets? If so, that's what it sounds like to me, since the sound goes away when the engine is revved (O/P goes up). :hmm: -
Looks like a good time to upgrade to the D44.

Let her take you to court.... As long as you have a ride that is safe... You can safely put a car seat in the truck... it sounds like Momma won't be riding in it anytime soon. If you let her start telling you how to live your life now, it won't stop. You have rights as the father, she doesn't get to dictate your life to you. :agree: Been through a VERY similar thing with mine. You WILL resent her for it. If you like the truck then keep it, she will understand, or she won't. I sold my '99 XJ & '08 Suzuki GS500 because of it :headpop: & bought a Hyundai Accent for MY vehicle. Two years later i bought Drippy & couldn't be happier, she's angry, but she'll get over it.

Mine is bad now, but strangely it only leaks right after i shut the engine off.
-
There are only so many places for your oil to go. With no (obvious) signs of leaking & no smoke i would check the antifreeze. Is the color normal bright green, or does it have a black film on top? Are you "making" fluid without adding any? This is a common occurrence on engines with aluminum head & cast iron blocks, i would think it wouldn't happen much on our 4.0's since head & block are both cast iron, but stranger things have happened. :dunno: BTW, Most conditions other than a leak will cause smoke, so make sure you check that thing very good before jumping to conclusions.

I leaned against mine, it was a great experience for the both of us.

Years ago we had bought out a dealer that still had about six of them in crates, needless to say i tinkered with them just a bit. Since then most have been sold / grenaded. Yes, you will gain some power/speed by removing the thick spacer, it will not help starting (if anything it is much more difficult even with the pressure relief valve). I never had any trouble with the clutch/sprocket. If i can't get a used carburetor, then I'll prob buy the new one on there. $70.00

Now that's just mean.

With as many gear-heads that are on here, i thought more people would remember them, but i guess not. :smart: It was a Chrysler designed snow-motorcycle that was produced for about three years. It had a chain driven paddle belt powered by a 125cc engine. They stopped making the things in 1982 (ostensibly from bankruptcy) because too many people were breaking their necks. http://www.sno-runner.com/Historyandpictures.html

Soooo shiny       -
Just for the sake of curiosity, i would also like to see how that sunroof was mounted. ;)
-
Remember these? If anyone happens to have one laying around, i could use the carburetor off of it.
-
I would like to see a close-up of the header panel just above the grill & see if they added louvers or just cut slots??
-
Well, for comparison, i paid $600 for mine & it wasn't in nearly that bad of shape.
-
That would be a $100.00 truck. Only worth that (maybe) for parts. Even with the D44. It runs??? :ack:
-
:agree: Track bar would help. You'll also want to replace your shocks with longer travel ones, other than that i think you'll be pretty safe as long as you don't go any taller. BTW, after you do the mods, get an alignment.

There hasn't been many good reviews of Rusty's stuff on here. I know Quadratec is not the cheapest, but i would rather go with something like this: http://www.quadratec.com/products/76004_800.htm

Did a big burn-out for the five year old. She loved it. :clapping: Man, that HO is healthy.
-
The VIN plate is actually attached to the plastic on the dash piece which is bolted on, if you transfer all the dash components the VIN will come with it. Why all the cutting???

The reciprocating dingle arm     :shake:

Sounds like a great idea. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
