I know they didn't make a 93' MJ. :( But they were atleast planning to at some point, and put the info into the factory 1993 Data Book.

What's rare and what's common?
jpnjim replied to AutoMoto's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Street Comanche's (or whatever they're called) DRW Comanche's (I'm still on the fence about how authentic these really are) -
:rotfl2: did you atleast break the brush off the inside of that PVC Glue cap? :rotf: That's thinking on your feet tho.

DD Upgrades: What Am I Forgetting?
jpnjim replied to 1987Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Tilt Wheel (especially if you have fat legs) 97+ Mirrors (much bigger) mine is 2wd, so if I'm going to have a 2wd pickup, I'm going to want it to be somewhat of a workhorse, so I also put an MJ 44 on the want list (anyone have one in the $250-300 range near Boston? ), and a decent hitch. Not having keyless entry is driving me nuts, but I probably wouldn't go to the trouble, unless I added it at the same time as an auto-starter. -
I just treated both the MJ's to new Champ's. I've always gotten similar results from Champion's & NGK's, with the NGK's lasting longer, but Champs still seem to be made in the USA. The plug wires I got from AutoZone were also USA built. :USAflag: Might as well enjoy getting 'anything' made in US while we still can. :(

I didn't finish my artwork yet, but I was digging through some old paperwork looking for vehicle titles, and found some pencil drawings I made 10-15 years ago (one of them was dated 1995):

WOW, All that and that's all they put you on was baby aspirin, and you have been off that for 12months?!?!? WOW.. how is that going?? My heart attack was Last January, I am on three different medications for it AND a full aspirin daily!!! (One of the medications is just for the stint) Anyhow, my reason for mentioning is that broken blood vessels are common place with blood thinners. I was switched form Lipitor to Crestor and 90% of my bruising issues went away and muscle tone and muscle firmness came back. When I was on Lipitor, my usually hard/firm muscles where soft and "weak" feeling. Since getting off that junk, I have returned to more of my self. (Never been a body builder, but always been athletic in my build) I'm certain everything will be OK. CW I'm a type I Diabetic, so I've been on Lipitor as a preventative for 4, or 5 years (Cholesterol numbers were good, but they want total Chol under 160 for diabetics). My heart issue was unexplained (Cardiac Arrest, with no cause, blockage, or heart attack to go along with it), so they implanted an ICD to cover all the bases, & added a Beta Blocker, and Lisinopril for meds. But no blood thinner other than the baby aspirin. I definitely became more tired after adding the meds, and I have also lost muscle tone, but I'm thinking that has more to do with not going to the Gym anymore. :dunno:

I'd like to recommend this seller, but they s*ck, and have been HORRIBLE to deal with so far. :wall: After getting the wrong ones once, and email after email, I still don't have my mirrors from Jan 21st. (see last post on pg1: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=21028 )

Wanting metal Tail light boxes? Possible group buy?
jpnjim replied to brimy311's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't think anyone's heard back from the OP yet (I haven't anyway), hopefully he's still going to move forward with it. So, add your name to the list with the rest of us and with any luck it will work out. -
I was working on something similar for the trail MJ (using ripstop woodland camo), but I haven't gotten past doing the visors yet. I was thinking about using a kit from that E-bay guy for the Cordovan (Burgandy) headliner in the Granpa Jeep, but someone had posted that he's not selling them anymore.

Nevermind Jim, if you happen to come across anything, I'd like to see it, but I don't want you to dig through a lifetime of stuff to get to it. (sounds like it happened a while ago Jim, but sorry to hear about your wife :( ) Thanks. It makes sense that they'd also make a 'non-equalizer' version of this same radio. If you get a chance, would you mind snapping a pic of it?

I was on baby aspirin, but I went off them last year when I started having issues with my (other) eye. I did have heart troubles tho (v-Fib/cardiac arrest 18mos ago, 6 paddle hits to bring me back  ). Eye seems much better today, blood has spread out/thinned out. I'm still planning on swinging by the ophthalmologist tomorrow tho. Thanks for the posts.

That's what 1/2 the links online said. :rotfl2: I was working on Jeep stuff yesterday, no heavy lifting (or pushing ;) ), just about bedtime my GF noticed it, and gave me the  look. :dunno:

:agree: I stole the pic, this is the guy who built it (and others): http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=845406 He also sells unmodified 2.5T's for ~$3000+: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=779804

B-pillar light alternative...
jpnjim replied to JeffK's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Looks good! How is the 'action' on them? Do they feel like the stock switches (OK, but borderline cheesy), or more substantial? -

I guess they're having a 'borderline' drought there, no precipitation = no snow caps.
-
Just in case you didn't hear........Yesterday (2/12/10) was the first day in history that 49 states had some snow  The only state that didn't........well, your not driving to that one :teehee: You just can't escape the snow this year :headpop: Amazing. (Trying really hard to not turn this into a Climate Change/Global Alarmist thread :D )

 I'm planning to go to the ophthalmologist's on Tuesday (Monday being a holiday  )
-
And my GOOD eye looks like this right now. :( (blood spot on eye, don't look if stuff like that makes you :ack: ) Don't ask me what I did, it's been like that since last night. If it wasn't Fri/Saturday, I would've driven right to my eye doctor. (Emergency room visits = 5-6 hour wait minimum, last time I went for an eye issue it was 4 before before they could even get an ophthalmologist to look at it, and I had called my eye doctor first  ) Interdweb search says it's probably no big deal, and my vision in that eye is unchanged (= still good).

I don't think it is a Kubel, but it looks like they designed it very similarly. :dunno: I think the Canadian Military also used these (Pinzgauer's): THAT is a Military Truck I'd like to daily drive.

Good point. I have a pretty decent looking AMC labeled stereo Cassette here as well (tho completely different from the other two I posted), but it's connections are hard wired, instead of having (what I usually consider) a Mopar style plug in harness, BTW, there is no way in the world you can mention having a 42 Willys (and a PickUp version at that!!!), and NOT post pictures. I would like to see the AMC gauges in it (didn't you say in another thread that it was AMC powered as well?), but I would love to  over any & all pics of it you can dig up.

Upgrading to a Gauge Package W/ Column Shifter
jpnjim replied to Andy in Pa's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Thanks for this thread! Tho I should've read the part about the indicator wire a little closer, I ended up having to reattach mine to the clip on the shifter side. I also should've cut my indicator hole a little larger. I added these pics to the 'Grandpa Jeep' build thread, but since there's no pics of a converted 1987' font gauge set in this thread, I thought I'd add them here too: Also, instead of slitting vacuum hose, I used the insulation off a black #18 wire to cover the rough edge. It's tedious, but you slit the wire down one side, then pull the insulation off, and cover the edge just like 87Warrior did his. I haven't done the sensors yet, but should be able to do it tomorrow. -
Insert Canadian Army joke here: ;) That 'iltis' is sweet, tho I thought it was a Kubelwagen at first. Either way, very cool.

How do I know what year these gauges came out of?
jpnjim replied to bighause's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The bottom cluster was what came in my 87 XJ (Laredo). It used the white push in style speedo cable connection. Sorry if the 87' full pack is the desirable setup, but mine went under the knife today  (see Grandpa thread)
