You would be way better off finding a doner X.J. of your liking.Thats what I did,All your nuts, bolts, linkage, hoses, wires, ect.will be right there. When you get done, part out what you can scrap the rest.
Just got back from my annual Missouri hunting trip,On the way back I passed 7 different Comanche's in about 1 1/2 hours between the towns of Stover and Buffalo,Turned around for 1 in Fristoe stopped at a tire store but he had allready left,But parked behind the tire store was another Comanche (possible parts truck)Just ain't use to seeing that many Comanches.
I.d go with the 89 I'm doing allmost the same swap as you,I.m using a 88 XJ doner for a 89 MJ conversion.Going from a 5 speed to an AW4 NP 242 I.ve allready swapped in the front and rear axles ,That was easy enough,From looking at the XJ, everything seems to be a straight swap.Gotta drill a few holes on the side of the hump for some linkage.Having a doner vechicle is really a big advantage over just gathering up the parts.Good luck which ever way you go.
I run non ethanol in my Comanche ,Jet Skis,4 wheeler and lawn equipment. It's still around $3.25 around here. But that's a big drop from where it's been,Any one else running non ethanol in their Comanche?
Has anyone lengthened a rear XJ driveshaft to use in a swb. Comanche. Fixxen to do my 4wd. swap and plan on shortening my rear MJ shaft. The driveshaft shop is around 90 miles away,Spoke with the owner over the phone. He said he'd do it while I waited to save me from making a return trip.My only concern is the rubber centered 2wd. driveshaft and possible ballancing issues .If that becomes a problem I need a plan B .I'd rather pay more to retube the XJ shaft than hunt down the proper shaft and have to make the 180 mile round trip again.Plus the truck will be down till that's resolved. Thanks in advanced
Passed a Comanche this afternoon on Hwy. 70 going through Waverly TN. wondering if it may be a member.Believe it to be a 91 or 92. I believe its this one I seen several months back.Nice truckImage Not Found
