Keep it, buy a ZJ/XJ/FSJ for kid transport. Rob L.

But it solidifies as it cools... I think it would ruin an engine... To the point of no return. At the point of machining, drilling, overworking... would it be worth it? Rob L.

tmans mj and xj projects...
Automan2164 replied to tmanhollister's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
i saw that too. in person you can't really see it, it going in for an alignment once i get my tracbar in so we'll see then. Gotcha. I don't believe there is a fix for camber on MJ's, unless you put in offset ball joints. Rob L. -
Thanks for the offer Dave. I will keep in touch with the owner. I left a business card with my name and number if he decides to give up, gets it running great, or can't get it right. The girlfriend is also not helping. She told me to get it. She stopped saying that once we took it for a ride, and saw how it was running... We will find out I guess. Hopefully he calls me back and just wants to get rid of it. Rob L.

Yep. But Physically, I DO NOT have the room. I "techically" have a 4 car driveway. BUT the last 2 cars get parked across the sidewalk. That is a ticketable offense. I have the two XJ's in the garage, and had the MJ in the driveway. The ZJ or the GF's 'yota would always be across the sidewalk. Now the MJ is on a farm out of town. I would pick this one up and liscense it, but with having to fix the ZJ also, I really don't have the time or space for another project. If this one ran great, and I could drive this and take my time with the ZJ, no prob. I just don't want to pick it up and it turn out to be a basket case, and the fuel pump isn't really the thing thats shot, and I have another crap vehicle in my driveway. Rob L.

He has the filter in the garage, and is going to change it. If he changes it, and finds out that it still didn't fix it, I was going to offer $100 to get it out of his hair. :shake: It won't go to the crusher, but I REALLY REALLY don't have the room for another MJ. I already had to move my project because of the city... I can't just get another one unless its a good runner. Rob L.

Been driving by a '91-'92 Eliminator that was sitting in the weeds for a couple of weeks now. Lo-and-behold, it came out of the weeds today-With a for sale sign. Stopped and looked, turns out to be a '91 4.0L HO, AX15 2wd Build date, 8-90. 181,000 on it. Someone put leather XJ buckets in, which were comfortable as all getout. Floors are shot, rockers are gone, sub-frame is save-able, bed is toast as is the tailgate. Guy wants $500. But, it runs like crap. Owner said he just put in a junkyard '93 XJ pump, and swears up and down once the fuel filter is changed, it will run better. It acts as if its starved for fuel. It pops and snaps when revved, and once under load driving in gear, starts to sputter out around 2000-3000 RPM. Runs great at idle, but I think that JU pump was crap. Anywho here are some pictures: So, what would you guys do? I called a couple CC members, but they said exactly what I did, which was buy it. In my opinion, if it was a strong runner, I would, but I really don't need another project. I just want something I can drive. If I were to get it, being that I already have a 4wd comanche in the stable, I would lower this one, flat black it, black rims, and fix the rust. Then just make it a mean street ripper. But, what do y'all think? Should I even mess with it? Rob L.

:headpop: If you posted more info than the 1 sentance questions you ALWAYS give us, it might help. Sorry, but this has been bothering me. I don't mean to jump on ya like that, but PLEASE provide us with a little more than just one sentance. In this case, these are things that might help us really zero in on your needs: Axle? Amount of lift? What kind of suspension your running in front? Why you need to re-do the angle? Info, info, info. Rant over. Rob L.

There were also a ton of the class 2 hitches at LKQ... If you really need it, I can pick one up for ya. Rob L.

No, I am sure they were out there, but my phone was in and out all day... By the time your voicemail got through, we were in the parking lot packing up... Sorry Dave. Hey, you wouldn't happen to know if I could just switch my cv style yoke out for the u-joint yoke on that front d30 do you? Thanks Rob L.

Yup, parts pull was good. We actually really didn't need the generator except for taking the lugs off, cutting the rear p-brake cables, and slicing the front trackbar bolt. Will and I had the axles completely out and free within 3 hours. All the control arm bolts actually came off easily, with most just pulling out by hand! The only reason the chop saw came out on the trackbar was that the bolt was stuck in the bushing. I think that was the hardest thing, and that wasn't bad at all. Ended up with a D30 CV axle, and a Aluminum D44 with open carrier and 3.73's. Not too bad as a small upgrade for the DD. We were kings of the Yard with the generator, but another group of Jeep guys pulling a tranny had one too. Def make life a little easier. We tried finding a hitch and a few other things, but the only good hitch we found, was sitting on the stand holding up the jeep. (Sorry Correy.) I figured I would grab the V8 ZJ sway bar also as an upgrade, so I picked that up. All said and done, with paying for core charges and calipers, I got the axles, sway bar and the calipers for $250. Axles were $67.50 each, with $15 cores. Calipers were $10, with $2 cores. All in all, a good day, thanks again Will. Now to get to installin' ;) Rob L.

Welcome to the group! Yep, you can modify the XJ seat bracket to fit an MJ... But I would check the classifieds and Cragislist and see about some MJ seats. They arent all that hard to find and will go right in... But, we have a pretty good DIY section, and this is one of the posts: http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8093 Should be everything you need! Rob L.

But won't it fill up the oil passages? Rob L.

Oh, I figured as much. Well we are all ready to go here on my end. I just have to put the toolbox together, but so far in the ZJ I have: Angle grinder, 2 grinding blades, 5 cutting blades Sawzall, 25 Steel blades, 3 Fire/Rescue specialty blades Electric impact 2 Cans "Free" super penetrant smells like nail polish, works awesome ($10 a can) 2 Cans "PB Blaster" penetrant 2 Cans Brake clean Honda Generator 24 PK water Safety glasses Gloves Flashlight We should be good to go. Don't hurry if your not a morning person. I'll get started without ya, and you can jump in whenever. No hurry. Just as long as I get out with my axles by 6PM. Be nice to get some "extra" goodies at 25% off too. :D Rob L.
