  1. Nope, original doors. Rob L.
  2. Well guys, I honestly don't know. I've been in contact with this guy over at the archives once... And he got me no-where. I have another contact with Chrysler, who beat doors down looking for a Jeep guy who was as passionate as all of us are. He had some names in mind, but no one would let him give out their info. Then he finally found someone who was willing to help. Ended up being the guy over at the archives, and well, we knew how that worked out the first time. So here we are. Rob L. :(
  3. I have some stories for sure. I work for a public works dept as a mechanic... I spent the last 48 hours pulling out our dump trucks, pickups, and clearing paths to start plowing in our loader. Not to mention a laundry list of broke crap. But, I have been up for WAAAAAYYY to long right now to continue. I just want to relax. I'll catch you guys up after I get caught up on some Z's. Rob L.
  4. Sorry for the suspense here guys, but the snow has been kicking my butt. I was working from 10:30 Tuesday night, went home at midnight this morning, and back to work at 7 today... Finally have a chance to sit down and copy and paste this sucka together. ENJOY! ---FEBRUARY 2011- RYMANRPH's 1990--- MODEL AND YEAR 1990 Base model, 4.0, 2wd, 5 speed (originally). Best MJ story After I had the truck for a couple months, I was walking my dog and Aaron, one of the neighborhood kids, stopped me to pet the dog and chat for a moment. He was probably 4 year's old at the time. He asked me, "you're the one with the Jeep (TJ) and the truck right?" I told him yeah, that those were mine and then he said, "but your truck is a Jeep too right?" That floored me! Everyone I talk to has no idea what this truck is, but here this little kid who might not even know how to read yet knew it was a Jeep. What owner loves best about CC I've been on many different automotive forums, but Comanche Club is heads above the rest, not just because of the wealth of knowledge collected here, but the genuine want to help others from its members. I've only been on this forum for a little over a year, but in that time, I've seen countless times where people have gone out of their way to either help or provide some sort of advice. CC has quickly become my most visited website and I love keeping track of everyone's progress and projects. I tackled this project only because I knew that there were others before me that had done this and were willing to help me out with the issues along the way. I would never have attempted this project without such a great resource. My Story: I had been following a couple CC members' builds over at Jeep Forum and really thought the Comanche would be a great project if I had the time and money. So, instead of wondering what it would be like, I put my car (my baby) up for sale and began shopping for a Comanche. I really wanted 4wd, but couldn't find one. I drove 4 hours to pick this one up and really had no idea what I was getting myself into. My goal was to convert it to 4wd, fix it up a bit and maybe put some paint on it. Well, I got most of that done when I began to dream bigger. After finding my '97 parts donor on Craigslist, it was all downhill from there. Its been a lot of hard work and long hours in the cold garage, but I've learned so much and I feel like with enough patience, I can tackle anything. I'm still working on it, but hopefully by the time most of you read this, it will be at least running and not far from driveable. Thank you Pete, Rob and all the moderators for this honor and I hope that I can help someone else here as much as everyone else has helped me. Here are a couple from when I first got it: 3" Lift and 4wd swap: Trip to TN for a light bar (with new wheels and tires): Revamped interior: New wheels and final shot before '97 swap: Donor: Almost recent interior shot: Current engine bay: Current exterior: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Awesome, Just plain awesome! I Have always been a fan of this truck, and when it came up in the mod circle, it was a hands down winner. From what was a solid base to build off of, to a very tasteful older look. One of the few MJ's that can actually pull off the clear corners and keep it looking good. Not only that, but to take it to the point it was, then go after a '97+ conversion!? Simply outstanding. Can't wait to see the finished project. Be sure to keep us posted! Until then, Bask in the MJOTM glory! You deserve it! Rob L.
  5. And since I can't link photos from my phone, someone who I am friends with on fb will have to link the last photo in my random folder for me... And show every one what I mean. Rob L.
  6. Please bare with me fellas. Getting the next truck up is on my list, but for those of you who know my job, I have more pressing matters to deal with at the moment... Rob L.
  7. Well, got it on Friday, after some swearing at the soldering iron tonight, got it together, and frustrating the masses. Rob L. :clapping:
  8. :needpics: Rob L.
  9. Yep. You know me. The only thing keeping me from turfing the ZJ is how nice it looks, and the fact that I keep working out the quirks. I would kill for its '98 XJ Limited equivalent in the same color. Other than that, I go through just about as many MJ's as you, we've even gone in on a couple together and turfed them... I just think it comes from boredom, or something like that. Or a love of vehicles. Never satisfied. Rob L. :dunno:
  10. I would think they would have a couple wires that do a continuity check across the pads... I think. Rob L.
  11. I bet this is the case. Parts stores sell Cherokee sender assy's as Comanche ones... They won't fit. You have to put the pump on to the MJ sender and do it that way. Rob L.
  12. I would just remove the whole thing... It just slides out of the trans once you have the axle end free. Just put a pan under it to catch anything that might come out. Rob L.
  13. Tail housing of the trans. Rob L.
  14. Just be sure to have something under the output to catch the fluid when you pull the slip yoke out. Rob L.
  15. Do I really have to give you a pound measurement? Put down your purse, pop the joint out of the yoke and see for yourself. Rob L.
  16. Its light. Stick a prybar between the yoke of the axle, and the u-joint, then pry. It'll pop right out. Rob L.
  17. If you could. Let me know how much you would want for your troubles via PM. Rob L.
  18. They aren't that rare. Unfortunately, the seller was trying to beef up the desire for his truck. The numbers aren't known for sure, but the highest number of MJ's were 1988's, and that was also the first year of the Eliminator. Chances are, there are a whole ton more of them. Rob L.
  19. The box under the dash would be no good to me unless I had the sentinel itself. Rob L. ;)
  20. I don't have anything unfortunately. I gave everything away the last time I tried to cut ties with my Jeep habit. Never again, I can't cut this addiction. I would like to rig it up to work, even with just a few sensors. I was majorly looking for the part you have, and the box it attaches to. From there, I could look up the sensor part numbers, get them aftermarket, and make my own harness. Rob L. :(
  21. One wonders if the front tire/wheel is rated strong enough to carry the extra weight of that monstrosity. Rob L.
  22. Its a fluid system sentinel, and I'll buy it from you. They were on upper model XJ's namely, Wagoneers. They are pretty rare, and I have never known anyone who has wired one up to work. You would have to grab every sensor, wire, and make your own loom to get it to work in an XJ/MJ that didn't come with one. That would mean drilling, tapping, cutting, welding bungs onto every part it gets a fluid reading from. :ack: I bought one off of eBay 5 or so years ago for about $20. When I sold everything off, I gave it to the new owner of my MJ, along with a pile of rare parts. Come to find out, that this was one of the items he left in a basement when they moved out of their old house because it had gotten wet. :fs1: Hornbrod and myself were just talking about this via PM recently, and making one work. While I couldn't get it done right away, I would like to make it work sometime, but that thing is a key item. I would gladly buy it from you, if you decide to sell it. Rob L.
  23. Could always replace the knuckle. Might have to, as the bolts are the slides, and it might be tough to find oversized slide bolts. Rob L.
  24. I'd be down for a trial run. Rob L. :D
  25. Little trade with a member eh? So... When is it getting repainted? Rob L. :ack:
