  1. Yes there is supposed to be one right where the fuel line screws into the carb. It takes I believe a 1" Wrench to remove the fitting and it is a little paper filter inside of the housing with a spring.
  2. Zip is 97330
  3. Also check the fuel filter thats on the carb where the fuel line goes in. They plug up and are a royal pain to get to. I left my filter out and put one on the inner fender (lots easier to check and change).
  4. I'll give you a call tomorrow, looks like the e-mail was a while back. But there is a possibility to go either way?
  5. I live in Oregon and have a nice short bed (gray w/stainless caps) and a rear window. Let me know if your interested?
  6. Go to E-Trailer there are a few companies that make front receiver hitches for Comanches and Cherokees (same thing). Some of them drop the hitch down to low I think, but some tuck them up nicely. I've ran one for years and it works very well. It also helps tie the front frame together. I believe mine is the Draw tite.and they are about $200.
  7. I live in Corvallis and might have some parts you need. If you are interested contact me. I've seen your Comanche around and I have some also. Always enjoy talking to other interested jeep people.
  8. Should, I think they are the same.

    Interior Plastics.

I've got some what I would call dark tan in good shape out of an 87. Let me Know if interested, I am in western Oregon. Don't know where you are located. Thank you
  10. I have a rust free long bed in Oregon If you are interested.
  11. For a bastard pack look for spring under vehicles with 2 1/2" springs. Some of my favorites are Dakotas, S-10, front Wagoners, and some older p/u's. But you will probably get a max of about 3 1/2". Anyway that is my experience with an '86' Comanche. I've opted for spring over on one of my other Comanches and it worked nice.
  12. I believe if I remember correctly they stay on and beak when clutch is first depressed. I cut mine and everything worked right but then read the directions later on and they said to leave the on.
  13. If it is offset it can't move back that far. Also I've used a hose clamp on the outer axle to hold the disconnect sleeve over. I did mine because when it would freeze it would not ingauge. You won't even notice you did it except you'll always be able to get 4x4. Wait till your in the mud and it pulls your vacume lines off, you'll be glad you eliminated them.
  14. And don't use any aditional sealer on the threads of the senders as this can change the readings. They need to ground good.
  15. I've seen many swapped axle gears miss labeled I'd check the stamping on the ring gear to be sure. It's a hassle but at least then you know for sure.
  16. I second what Eagle said. My MJ would start with a bad cps and it was new (the cps). Went through and was checking everything else because it started but would not throttle up ( was told it would not start with a bad cps). Finally checked the cps (checked bad) and bought one from Napa, checked it and it showed good and installed and it fired and ran perfect. Will never buy a cps any where else again and will check them before installing. Bought the bad one from auto zone. Learned my lesson the az one was made in taiwan and the Napa one was made in Mexico, could be because they still drive old American cars down there? Otherwise MJ's rule I own a few lifted and stock, 2 and 4 wheel drive.
  17. Turn the seats over and remove the seat bottem first then the bolts are easier toget to.
  18. I have an 88 4.0 auto MJ and it is doing the exact same thing. Went through all the same tests after replacing the fuel pump. It was running great when I shut it off the night before, When I went to start it the next morning it just cranked but would not fire. Anyway diagnosed a bad fuel pump and replaced it then it would start but only idle (bad idle) give it gas and it acted like it would die, let off and would go back to the cruddy idle.My fuel pressure and volume is good and I have parts jeeps so I started replacing sensors and looking for vacume leaks found nothing wrong and nothing I changed made any difference. Checked all the grounds. Still trying to figure it out. I'm wondering if it is the computer now, but don't know how to check it. Anyone have any ideas? tired off throwing parts at it.

    Why The Comanche?

Comanches are just cool, best looking truck ever built. Love the squared body lines and the long bed ( just about as big as a full size truck ). Besides the 4.0 in a Comanche gives them more power to weight ratio than a chevy truck with a 454 ss. Right now I have 4 of them and a 48 Willys P/U wich is like the grandfather of the MJ.
  20. Sounds like six of one and half dozen of the other. I was curius because I think I got a bad fuel pump. It starts good and idles fair but when given any throttle it just runs out of fuel, let off and it goes back to idle. Can hit the key and fires up instantly. Think the pressure of the pump is right just not enough volume. By the way it is an Airtex and inadvertantly had the poles crossed at the electrical connections for a while and wondering why it wouldn't start. Wondering if that hurt the pump running backwards for a while?
  21. 88, 4.0, auto. Any issues with certain brands? How about airtex?
  22. Check the clutch master cylinder on the firewall, it miight be out also. And just my opinion but the cast iron cylinders are more reliable. I've had aluminum ones that are bad right off the self.
  23. If the diaphram was bad in the fuel pressure regulator wouldn't gas be going into the vacume port? Put a vacume gauge in a intake port and vacume was right about 17 except when it would stutter. Giving it any kind of throttle just boggs it down and just cuts out, let off and it just goes back to it's weird idle. P.S it starts right up, just by turning the key just like it should. Just don't want to throw money and parts at it. Thank you, any input is appreciated.
  24. Just thinking, you mentioned the O2 senser. What would starting fluid a few times down the intake affect the O2 senser?
  25. Did not drop the tank just the driveline. Also the new pump wires were backwards. Didn't notice at first and tried to start w/ pump running backwards. Would this affect the pressure regulator?
