  1. Thats me with some of my favorite beer, Amber Bock. Me again in my truck with the aviators. This is my other truck, 2004 Nissan Frontier. The pic was taken in Tennessee near Cade's Cove
  2. They might complain, but not after I threaten to pull his house off the foundation and park it in his front yard Something like that would make a great tow rig for my Comanche!!
  3. take the fuse out for the fuel pump and turn the key to the on position then off. Thats how I had to get rid of the pressure in my nissan to change the fuel filter. It should work on the MJ too...right? EDIT-I'm not saying nissans and MJs are the same. I'm saying it should work based on principle

    It's official

Exactly! The company will shrink and a lot of people will lose their jobs...but not everyone that works for chrysler will lose their jobs. Most of the stealerships won't go out of business, they will try to sell other brands or used cars. It'll work out eventually.

    It's official

Not to spread rumors...but I hear Fiat is going to pick up Chrysler. Filing chapter 11 will probably give the company a chance to shake off some of its debts and dead weight. Whether or not Fiat is the one to bring back Chrysler, IDK. Those Europeans can be kind of "iffy" when it comes to cars, but on the other hand Renault owns Nissan and Nissan doesn't suck. So maybe there is hope!
  6. Yeah well. I guess I over estimated the abilities of my camera phone. This comanche is becoming a black hole for my money, I can't afford my own real digital camera. ....but its funny you should mention snorkel, because that is one of my up coming summer projects. This past sunday, I replaced the rear main seal, radiator hoses, and antifreeze. Nothing was too difficult. The RMS seemed to have stopped puddles of oil from forming under the jeep. When I drained the antifreeze, it was so nasty....it had sediment! It was brown, rusty, and disgusting. While I the pan down, I noticed the timing chain has more slack in it than my bicycle. That and replacing the bearings have now been added to my list of summer projects. I guess I'll do the water and oil pumps when I go into the engine next time.
  7. Ok, here it is. The suspension is a 4" lift from rough country. The components look pretty solid, except for some of the bushings on the shocks, the shock moves a little around the bushing. Is the sway bar the same as a track bar :dunce: ? I'm sorry but I'm not very well schooled in the way of suspension parts :dunno: The sway bar has some NASTY play in it. I haven't been able to get someone to shake the steering while I watch...but all LOOKS nice and tight. Now, it does like to move all over the road. I don't know what causes that, it doesn't really favor one side or another...it just like to sway and I have to try and keep it strait. I keep waiting for a cop to pull me over for suspicion of DUI
  8. So yesterday it was a nice day and I decided to take the 'manche to work. I leave my house, and I'm getting up to speed, probably about 50mph and I hit a little bump. I live in Louisiana, the roads are crap so this not a big deal :shake: . After the bump, the front of the truck started shaking horribly! It felt like the wheels were actually bouncing off the ground. I had to pull over and stop. I've had this thing for a little over a month, and its never done this before. I've driven it over the same roads at different speeds, high speeds, low speeds, and its never done this before. Any Ideas?? :dunno:
  9. that kit says the recommended tire size is 31" which is basically what you want. for $335 I'd get it, the kit I have has been to hell and back...and its still pretty good. it even rides well on pavement...but for me thats just a bonus. it does tend to sway a little while driving, but I think thats something else...
  10. that was the first thing I noticed was the ranger wheels. I'm looking for a set of four rims to mount some cheap road tires on, its cool to know that ranger wheels have the same bolt pattern and will fit the MJ. I guess it would be logical to assume that explorer rims would fit the MJ too since they are based on the ranger platform. And I know this may be a stretch but would rims off of isuzu rodeo work on an MJ as well...or did I get lied too? anyway...... I have 30" tires and they haven't rubbed yet, which is just about what you want. My MJ has a 4" Rough Country lift that came with the truck when I bought it. I hear they are cheap.....but then again I don't know if they are still in business because this lift kit is almost as old as the truck. pray to Google about Rough Country, and you may find your answer.
  11. So I have finally decided on a name. There are Comanche Chiefs and Comanche Pioneers, but there are no Comanche Challengers :brows: . This Comanche will challenge you in the mud, challenge you on the trails, challenge you in the swamps, it'll even challenge that old rickety shed you don't want in your back yard anymore :beerhead: . The name just sounds pretty bad a$$ to me, and the more time I spend turning wrenches on this thing the more bad it gets An up date. I have painted the back bumper a primer red...which makes look like a big piece of Iron, sanded and primed the rust spots on the hood and some on the body. The gauges have proven to be more of a task than I originally thought. After the gauges are in, the next thing will be tires. A set of 31" Interco TSLs.
  12. I washed the manche today. I also installed a bad a$$ skull and cross bones rear view mirror, applied some belt dressing to quiet the horrific squeaking from the belt, and I went to the junk yard and got a speedo cable, armrest and knob for the window crank. Its been a busy day! Yesterday, I sanded down some of the rust spots on the hood and body and painted them with primer. As well as painted the rear bumper the same color as iron I-beams....it looks killer

    Pirates

...why don't we just get some Ninjas to take out the pirates? Seriously, thats the best idea ever. Some sleeping pills in the Koolaid, sleeping pill laced brownies and other things. Everyone falls quietly asleep and wakes up in jail. Everyone's happy...except the pirates Also, Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoloy card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game UNO.
  14. So yesterday before work, I was out doing a little Jeeping. I'm driving up to a loading site for tractors in the middle of a sugar cane field. As I am a long way off I see what I believe to be a small child standing in the middle of the loading site. When I got closer, I realized it was a huge bald eagle eating a dead opossum As I drove closer, it looked at me grabbed his opossum and flew about 30 feet, dropped it and continued eating. He let me get pretty close, but as soon as I tried to grab my camera...he flew off into the trees near by. :fs1: That was pretty damn cool.
  15. So I finally installed a manual temp gauge. It took the place of the sensor for the computer...not for the stock gauge. So with the connection to that sensor disconnected, the electric fan runs constantly. I know that fan is only SUPPOSED to run when the engine gets too hot. Is it a problem to let it run all the time? Is there another place that I can install this manual gauge probe, and leave the computer's sensor where its supposed to go? :hmm: Thanks for the help
  16. I had something similar happen to me in my Frontier. The tires had gotten dry rot with out me noticing, and one night heading back to the dorm the tread separated from the rest of the left rear on the interstate. It sounded like I hit something but nothing else was wrong. My truck was parked for about a week while I was at school, when I headed back home It would shake violently at highway speeds. When I stopped to check it, the inside of the tire was bulging out about to burst. I got home on the skinny spare tire and had all four changed the next day.
  17. Yes, I swapped them with the ones that came out of the XJ that I got the gauges out of. It worked for about 3 days then kaput :dunno: Yes! Thats pretty much what I'm doing. So all I need to do is get a Mechanical Speedo with cable out of an old (84-90) XJ...right? The cable should go where the electronic speed sensor goes...if I understand correctly.
  18. I'm not too sure why my gauges died. I traded the idiot lights for an XJ's real gauges, they worked for 2 days, and died. Any other time I would agree with you, but I'd rather have mechanical gauges and fix them one by one when they go wrong, than find a whole new gauge cluster in the salvage yard and pray it works for more than a week.
  19. After my gauges crapped out, I decided to try to go with mechanical gauges. They all seem pretty strait forward except the speedometer. I need a cable to go from the gauge to the trans (or t-case). Is there somewhere on the trans or t-case to connect a cable like this? Could I just replace the electrical connection? Any Ideas??
  20. So I'm planning on having my front bumper made at a local tractor shop because I know the guys. I was planning on having them weld on some big D rings on the front and the rear. The rear bumper is made of some thick steel pipe. I know some of you guys have a phobia of welding, but would that be good?
  21. :agree: and he was taking them while running away from the truck. If I'm paying $6500 for something it better have more and better pics than that. Seriously, It looks like he is trying to sell an acre of land with the truck form the way the pics look :dunce: Could you REALLY buy a truck after seeing only 4 pics of it on the internet?
  22. Well, the rest of the gauges finally crapped out yesterday. No temp, no oil pressure, no tach, no mph or odo, and no fuel, but the Volt meter does still work. They didn't all go out yesterday though. The speedo was the last straw for me. I'm giving up on these crappy electronic gauges. I'm going to all Mechanical gauges. I'm picking them up today and I'll post pics of the gauges and the radio install tomorrow. Any who... Here are some action shots of My 'Manche! Sorry about the low quaility, it was getting late in the day.
  23. GOOD GAWD!!!! I have the fastest service available in my area and its not half that!!! 21Mb/s
  24. Thanks Willy...but I can't take credit for it. Its from the movie "Grindhouse" directed by Quentin Tarantino. This design was on the hood of Stuntman Mike's "Death Car" in the movie. It pretty much screams bada$$edness On another note... This 'Manche has no radio. I currently have one on order from aplacethatgavemeanokdeal.com (i didn't wanna spam, so if you wanna know just ask). JVC AM/FM CD player with AUX input jack in the front, 2 Blankput 4" speakers to fit on the sides behind the seat, all required wiring and hardware, as well as detailed instructions. Everything should be here tomorrow or thursday. I'll post pics of install.
  25. So, here it is. In all its glory. Its a '92 4.0 High output. It has a little more than 100k miles on it and a 4inch lift. The wire harness needed changing because rats ate it. I changed out all the Idiot light gauges to the real gauges, and even mounted the gear indicator into the tach where its supposed to go. It was a real PITA, then once once I turned it on...the tach doesn't work. :wall: Thats it for now. Soon I'll be replacing the rear main seal, getting ALL the gauges to work...even if I have to buy mechanical ones, and some new tires because the ones on now are crap. After that, I will beef up the brackets holding on the back bumper, build a new front bumper, add a winch, and paint it black. After I paint it black, I plan on painting this design on the hood. I will definately be updating when I have pics and work on it. Let me know what yall think.
