Get the rear bumper definitely, I've been looking for one forever, mine's bent to hell and back! I'd grab the liner, back glass (for a back up), interior lights, maybe the interior pillar trim too. Maybe all the little 2.8 engine specific hoses and vac lines. I'm sure there's someone in the club looking for that stuff. The fender trim looks complete too. Gears might be good to grab too.

That deal on the 8.25 looks pretty good. But, check the axle spline count. Somewhere around 96' they increased the spline count. More is better. A lot of people wheel em with good results. There's a lot of posts here on both. This is an ongoing debate....I think it really comes down to tire size. The 8.8 will survive under larger tires than the 8.25. The 8.8 is just stronger. It does have C-clips, but they are pretty beefy themselves and you'd have to break a huge shaft to lose the tire/wheel. I run an 8.8 and really happy with it. Huge axles, 30 splines (I think), discs, factory limited slip which works well, large tubes. I do wish it was a bit wider, but i can live with it. Keep in mind, if you use the 8.8 you'll have to get a flange for the drive shaft and either a dual length U-joint or have the stock shaft changed to a longer U-joint. I think the stock Mj/XJ u-joint is a 1310 and the Exploder is a 1330. not sure about the numbers, but the explorer version is not larger, but longer. You can put the 1310 in the Exploder flange yoke but it won't fill it out, and you shouldn't run it long like that. You'll also have to weld the tubes to the carrier on the 8.8, not a bad idea with either though. -
I've got two KC daylighters and two Hella 500s. The KCs are like spotlights and more focused than the Hellas. The Hellas are pretty wide. I use em driving into work at 4:00 am everyday since seeing a guy right in front of me hit a 300 lb mule deer with his honda. I think mounting them lower would be better for highway driving. Mine are mounted on a Carr roof rail so they're shining over the snow plow. Also, don't pay the 20 bucks for the relays when you wire them, just pull em from a JY cherokee for nuthin. And...I did salvage the deer! Hate to see an animal go to waste, plus he wasn't banged up at all, just a few broken ribs.

Well, I woke up this morning and there was no oil on the driveway under the jeep. I guess it decided to seal up. I'm running regular Mobile 5-30W, ILSAC GF4 certified oil. CCV is all good. When I rebuilt the head, I cleaned out the inside of the valve cover also. I spent a day at the JY pulling all good vacuum hoses and lines. I got the factory service manual for the CCV and ensured all the lines were running were they were supposed to minus the line that runs through the factory air box. I'm running a cone type air filter and I punched a hole in my intake hose and ran that particular hose into it. So there's no clogging anywhere. I don't notice any blowby, and I believe I've got all the lines going where they are supposed to go. I'm kinda of a purest with mechanical things....Pete, you're probably right, maybe I'm over-thinking it,,,I just believe if its not abused and maintained correctly then the darn thing should work right,,,,right? :smart: I guess I'll be good with the oil pressure around 22 on the highway based on ya'lls input. Looks like the motor, although it runs great, is a little wore out on the inside. I could see the factory cylinder hone marks on the cylinder walls when I did the head so I figured the thing was in pristine shape.....guess the bearings are the culprit. Oil isn't spewing, just a slow leak. Not sure how it leaks on the highway under pressure. Kinda scared to open the door and look, haha. But when I stop after about 5-10 minutes there will be a puddle starting to form. I think I'm going to go to Slaughterhouse or Bandimere Speedway and just run the H$#% out of it, maybe it'll let loose on me, then the wife will have to let me do the stroker. My luck, the engine will hold fine and I'll break something else. I walk by the 258 crank just sitting in my garage every morning. :drool: Its day will come!!!! OK, to summarize: The RMS can effect oil pressure but isn't the main factor. Most likely it is sealing enough to keep near constant but slightly low pressure. The main reason for the low pressure would be the bearings or the pump itself. Also, considering the fact that it has darn near 200K on the odometer and engines with this much mileage just run low. Does anyone else with 200K plus have low oil pressure? Is this acceptable for a good smooth running but high mileage engine? Thanks for all the input so far!! :cheers: -

I think the RMS does effect oil pressure because when I first replaced it the pressure shot way up into the 40s, then it dropped again and was leaking out of the back of the oil pan. Same thing this time around. Nope. When I rebuilt an '88 XJ for my ex-girlfriend and drove it from the east coast to Montana, the rear main seal let go halfway across Pennsylvania. The oil pressure didn't change. You're looking at bearings, in addition to getting the RMS to seal. Are you using the seal with the double wiper? I put in the single wiper seal. I guess this is going to move my stroker to the left on the calendar. The motor still runs awesome though. I'm about 2 weeks from clicking over 200K. Sitting at 199,300ish. -
:agree: Everytime I think I'll get better mpg or hp with fancy plugs, they foul out prematurely. Stay away from splitfires, v-fires, etc. You could replace regular plugs 2 or 3 times for the price and get way more mileage out of them. I'm not a fan of any platinum, but some people have had better luck with them than I. Stick with regular plugs and gap em right. Also, check inside the plug boots for damage. Sometimes if you pull em off a lot the wire will tug free of the metal connector inside the boot and make an intermittent connection or none at all. The plug wire could look fine but be damaged on the inside.

Same thing this time around. I've changed the oil filter elbow along with the O-rings and upgraded to the larger SAE filter. The head was just rebuild so the head gasket is good. No leaks there. As far as I can tell there aren't any other culprits. I've got a 258 crank and rods and a spare 89' 4.0 sitting in the garage. There is a stroker about to happen,,,,I just need some more bling $$$$. -

Tried to repair my leaking oil pan/rear main seal for the second time this weekend. I even gave the RTV 36 hours to cure fully. I used the high temp red stuff. So Sunday, I start driving it and the oil pressure is running over 40 on start up until the engine warmed up, then it dropped to around 35-40 on the highway. But after about 15 minutes of driving at highway speeds, I lost it. Pressure dropped to about 22 on the highway. Which is only slightly better than what it was. I'm starting to think this thing just ain't going to seal. Its not a difficult job at all and I guess I'll try it again. But I'm thinking I must be doing something wrong. I found this website and the guy mentions using an anaerobic sealant that's available at the dealer. Maybe that's the problem. I should try that stuff. http://www.dailydriventj.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=811 I'm prepping the surfaces right on the engine, oil pan, and bearing cap but it's just not keeping the seal. I'd like to see my oil pressure stay up over 30-35 on the highway. If anyone else has any pointers, I'm all ears.

Yeah I made the last turn into the house and heard a pop, then the rear end swung out to the side. I was on my way to the shoulder anyway turning into the house. What made me madder was I drove 60 miles to pick up a set of 35" BFGs with 75% tread for 200 bucks. When I got there, the guy said he couldn't make it. The next morning he had deleted the CL ad. Guess he sold em to someone else with better looking 200 dollar bills. :fs1: -

I'm really happy with the off and on road performance with the drop brackets. They're not as great as long arms I guess, but it returns the geometry of the control arms close to stock. Mine rides pretty darn smooth on the highway. Mine are RE,,,,oh and the grease makes the truck go faster!!!! -

I cut the leaf spring plates to get the shock mount lower and didn't put the top plate back on either. It wasn't the best setup but it was intended to be temporary till I fabbed up some shock mounts. I don't have a welder but its on the to-do list. It luckily let go on the last turn into the house after a 120 mile round trip. I had another set of spring plates and slapped those on correctly,,,that is for my SOA. Now I have the standard two spring plates on upside down. The problem is that my shocks are bottomed out and I can't haul any real weight in the back of the truck. Lesson Learned, buy a good aftermarket spring plate when doing an SOA, and get someone to weld up some shock mounts correctly. I could've lost the rear axle at 65 mph down the highway!! :eek:

I took a two day trip to DC recently to link up with my Iraqi Interpreter who finally made it to the US. We were together for two tours, about 27 months. He made it to the US in late 2007, but this was our first chance to get together here in the States. While walking around the Mall area, we spotted two Jeeps on the South Lawn of the White House. An XJ with a Plow, and a Libby. This was back on the 24th of March. I thought that was nice,,,,also, I didn't see foreign made vehicle on the premises. I snapped some pics of course, because snow plows on Jeeps are just cool, but that one is not as cool as mine! Finally, I wish I could've slapped some of my bumper stickers on the XJ, but I don't think sneaking in to do it would have gone over too well.

My first gun was a Mossberg 500 20 gauge, got it when I was 11 years old and 23 years later I still go hunting with it. Its beat to hell, rusty, and still shoots straight.
