  1. *tear That was a beautiful story. Good one for the Jeep comradity history book.
  2. Congratulations! The comanche club is a beautiful thing.
  3. As mentioned above, forget 35s and 4.10s. I had that set up for a few months on my TJ and hated driving the pig down the road. I also felt that 33s and 4.10s were barely adequate. Sure, you can follow charts to get your rig back to a stock-like configuration, but keep in mind your truck has a greater wind resistance and weight than it did stock.
  4. If the front doors are in good shape I would grab those. Also consider taking the windshield washer fluid tank and pumps. Hope he did not get scared away with the disgusted postings above. I primarily post by using my phone because I am too cheap to pay for additional internet access. My grammar is pathetic any way I go about posting.
  5. Hey Jim, ya home yet? I hope we get to see pictures of the truck!
  6. That's cool! All I have used to haul jeeps is a Silverado and a H2.
  7. Pull the throttle body and scrub it inside and out with any toothbrush, other than yours, and some TB cleaner. Clean the IAC and passage twice. A dirty TB can cause the IAC to stick. Since it has coil packs it has a cam position sensor. That thing may need to be re-synchronized at the dealer as well.
  8. If it is too rainy to pick up a 242 this evening I will take a stab at this. But I will make it known that I hate solid printed decals, but love vinyl cut. Can sticker companies make a printed vinyl cut? I don't know, but if so, this could be darn cool!
  9. Hey, that's a nice work space!
  10. Also try scrubbing the throttle body with a toothbrush and cleaner.
  11. Man he should tell us how he really feels :rotf: The XJ looks good.
  12. Doh! Guess my link did not post. It was just an observation, on my part, that even in the ridiculous world of TV, somebody had sense enough to keep the rare parts protected.
  13. Exactly what did you not like about the silverstars? My folks have the silverstars on their XJ. Good light output, but the pattern is a little messy. I ran silverstars in my TJ then got the IPF H4 kit. It was another good improvement. The light pattern is great and has a clean cut off for on coming traffic. I already have the IPF kit for the MJ once it is done.
  14. With the blue Chevelle. Notice they did not touch the vinyl top or chrome trim with the 'vandal paint'. Would never be able to get it cleaned up.
  15. Aint no such thing as a free lunch
  16. Install the axle and measure for the driveshaft. My guess is that you will need to get your factory shaft cut down about 7/8" with the lift. I would not suggest simply sticking your stock DS back in, first big bump you hit with a load in the back and you might be kissing your T-case or radiator/water pump/motor mounts good bye. It should not cost too much for your local driveline shop to cut and balance the DS.
  17. :agree: SpiderTrax makes spacers to adapt. I see a YJ quite frequently that is running the JK wheels.

    New to C.C.

Ha! I would welcome you to the madness, but you already own an MJ. You have stumbled across the greatest collection of MJ information, anywhere. Just be careful, everybody is really good at spending your money!
  19. Idea: Find part time work. I do not know how old you are, but most landscape installation crews will be getting swamped with work this time of the year. They always need help. Just about every business in the service industry always needs help. Won't be good pay and many people may look down on you, but it will bring home a paycheck to help with the bills. Also, ditch the new car. The payments and insurance alone are reason enough to get rid of it. With the cash from the car sale, buy a beater and continue to make the car payments, cause they aint going away. But the beaters insurance should be much less than the pontiacs. Opinion: Don't go in debt for something you really do not need. Never, ever, buy a new car. Growing up, my folks only bought one vehicle that wasn't used, a 92XJ. But they drove it into the ground for many years. Even their most recent purchases have been used. If the car is in YOUR name and are at least 18, you can do what ever you want. Don't default on any payments expecting somebody to take them over in the future. That is how you wined up on TV in front of Judge Judy. Try not to live paycheck to paycheck. Make sure there is a little bit left when the next check comes. The only real way to come out of this is to cut your losses, reduce the dollar amount of bills coming in, any find some supplemental income. I bet if you jump on monster.com, there will be many jobs available within 20 miles from you, most of which you will not want to do.
  20. Personally , I have never liked the blacked out lower part on light colored rigs. On a dark green it looks sharp! If you want to paint the Sport Truck decals on, make sure you take lots of pictures and measurements. Might also be worth it to grab a big roll of tracing paper from the local art supply store to get an impression of the stripe. You know, tape the paper to your truck and rub a chunk of lead over it to get the outline... Like we all did in school at some point with a leaf.
  21. Take it to the paint shop that looks like it has been there for 30 years, because more than likely it has been. I am getting my truck done in sections so the paint shop has already finished my bed. I believe it is the same factory red color you are wanting. Check it out in my build, link in the sig. This guy painted my fathers show truck in the early 80s and is still in the same shop which the city is trying to push blight upon so they can build a gas station or something. He is slower than a snail since it is a two man operation, he and his brother, just as it always has been. He assumes nothing and always calls with clarifying questions. Best body shop hit around. Next best are the dealership body shops, at least where I come from.
  22. That is a pretty generic comanche! But it does sound like one I was looking at buying over a year ago when I was looking. I really did not want a lifted truck though.
  23. Thank you so much for the complement! I am sure the plans will change a little, but it much easier to build towards that ultimate goal. Luckily I DD a company truck and have my TJ for personal use. If all else fails I can borrow my folks XJ as long as I clean it and change the oil.
  24. Have any forestry or tree identification experience? I was hired on at the end of February as a Utility Forester with the local power company. Since then, they have hired 4 more foresters. I have been quite surprised since I would assume 'tree jobs' would be one of the first to get cut, but they keep adding more! Good luck with your search, keep a positive attitude, and don't turn away a job offer just because you are not 100% confident in your abilities. Thats what learning is all about.
  25. May/June 2010 Update Between working on wedding plans I have still been able to get some work done on the ol' MJ. My first order of business was to verify the donors harness and accessories still work 100% after being thinned down. Naturally, I had to take a test drive around the property: It was then time to pull the drivetrain out. Decided to take out the 4.0/AW4/231 as one piece. Used our John Deere 4210 loader to pull it out, worked great! Some MJ nudes: Then I gutted the interior: My next step will be getting the XJ dash fitted (need to pick up a spot weld driller) and firewall patches cut and outlined for the body shop to weld in.
