Tough break. BLHTAZ, you worked at a dealer too didnt you? Did yours get closed down too?

After removing my carpet from my comanche, I decided to purchase new. Has anyone purchased replacement carpets from the vendors on Ebay? Do they they fit pretty well? I found one from a company called The Trim Store and another called Auto Carpet Originals. Does anyone have any experience with either of these guys? I am pretty picky (almost to a fault :shake: )

Floorboards - Finally removed my carpets
glundblad replied to glundblad's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ouch. No, it was completely dry. But it has been sitting in a heated garage for a 6 months so I would assume it would be dry. I really don't drive it in the rain either. Would you sand and coat the floor with POR15 or is sanding and painting good enough? -
Mine has only 82k miles on it and does the exact same thing. Runs smooth as silk, like new in fact until it idles. It never dies but definately idles slower than it used to. I replaced the TPS and it didnt help. Cleaned it and so on. I gave up and in the next couple of weeks, I will be making a sizable donation to a Jeep dealer. I will be very curious to see if they find anything. :ack:

I am confused. I could always hear the pump, even when new. Particularly while standing on the drivers side at the rear axle. I sounds like an air leak. It does it now with a fairly new fuel pump. Is my truck the only one that does that?

We have one in the neighborhood very similar to that one except it is a Chevy 1500. A tree fell on it during a wind storm.

Thanks, that makes sense. I really don't drive my comanche very much and I want the interior to look new. Last year it spent most of the summer in a garage getting worked on. This year, I will probably put 500 miles or less on it. I live in a "comanche unfriendly" area of the country where they salt the roads quite heavily. I have probably seen 5 - 7 of them on the road in the last year. So the comanches that end up in the junkyards are pretty far gone and those don't stay there long because there arent very many usable parts on them. So far, I have combed 6 junkyards and come up empty. When you ask about comanches at junkyards, they will usually give you one of these :hmm: or these :rotf: .

I was browsing MoparPartsAmerica.com and it looks like I can still purchase a new center console. My '87 chief has the small mini console. I don't know how acurate their site is but if I can buy new for $250, that is not bad is it? I assume I would need to purchase all the parts individually such as the top cushion and so on and specify color. Stock availability for everything could get tricky for one color. THat could make a simpleton like myself a little nervous. Has anyone bought from these guys before? Are these guys legitimate? :???:

Comanche Chief Skidplates
glundblad replied to glundblad's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I checked my window sticker that came with the truck and I see no mention of any skid plates so I must have been mistaken. By the way, goblazers_6, could you tell me what size wrench I would need to remove these and if you park in a garage at night. Do you have dogs? Just curious. :clapping: -
Does anyone know if all Comanche Chiefs came with skid plates under the front just behind the bumper and also over the gas tank? I almost remember from many years ago that mind had one at least over the gas tank. When my dad owned the truck, he took it to a dealer to put new tank on it. I wonder if they got lazy and tossed it rather than put it back on.

Hood insulation Is It Needed
glundblad replied to sinkrun's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
www.teamcherokee.com has new ones. -
I think she is beautiful. I would fix her up and drive her only on special occasions.

Please be sure to let us know how it turns out. I am running out of junkyards to look at. Pretty soon I am going to have check out parking lots on a dark evenings for old rusty 2 door Cherokees. :brows:

IMO, your original idea looked the best. Back in the day, I had a black car. It looked soo cool until I washed it the first time. Those swirl marks that show on black paint will put you over the edge. :wall: You can clay bar all you want but eventually you will want to wax it with a screwdriver. It will only get worse. Eventually it will consume your thoughts and then your entire life. You may never recover. Then there is the sunshine. Touch a white car and then a black one. It (and you) will bake in the sun. Then don't even mention the dust and dirt it reveals. I sold the car years ago. Why does it still bother me? Maybe I have problem and should get help?

Thanks. I took a look at this. They were nice but the logos in the back of the seat took away from the factory look. The black leather would probably be the only ones that would match my vinyl door panels. Man my wife would be p!ssed. $$$
-
That is a great thought. I would like to know that too. And they are still available. I personally don't like the bench. It is far too soft and I don't like the thought of getting rear ended without a head rest.
-
I needed two of them and could not find any. One side was good enough that the body shop was able to make it. The other side was too far gone. I had to purchase it from a junkyard for $40.
-
Does anyone know if new black bucket seats are still available anywhere? The 2 door cherokee was discontinued recently so I would think they are available as parts somewhere. Just thinking of my bench seat is irritating my sinus. I really don't want aftermarket and the junkyards in my area are pretty picked over. Then when you mention to them "Jeep Comanche" they scratch their heads like this. :hmm: I may have fly under the radar on this deal though. If my wife found out, she would probably put an end to it. :rotf:
-
Hmm, I don't think so. But man those seats are georgous!

I am totally with Jeep Guts. I understand why the uninformed do not purchase Diesel vehicles in the US but it is very frustrating they are in limited supply. I would take a diesel over gas engine any day. If I could drop a diesel in my tahoe, I would. I had a VW Jetta that got 50mpg on the highway and cruised at 80mph down the interstates while doing it. VW makes a V10, twin turbo diesel that is a real road rocket and gets 23 mpg. No HP and all torque. I drove one and it was unbelieveable. It is butt ugly though (sorry if anyone here has a touareg). I recently found out the next generation Grand Cherokee will be basically on a car platform. I have thought about getting an '08 diesel before they disappear. A diesel wrangler would be impressive too (or better yet a Gladiator!)
-
Will you be able to mount those on an MJ? I didnt think Grand Cherokee seats would fit a Comanche. They would not tilt forward to gain access behind the seats, right?
-
Well, I will tell you what. If anyone wants to buy my taillights for $350, let me know. :rotf:

I did something very stupid yesterday. I didnt visit the Comanche Forum. The link is gone and now I missed the whole story. What happened? :(
