some 207's came with a flanged front output for use with the "stick-in-the-can" front driveshaft. You can swap a standard yoke and run the stronger DC driveshaft. Jeff

we have a 5500w portable (that saw ALOT of use a few months ago when Irene hit us), but lemme tell ya....it gets old when you're off the grid for upwards of a week. One thing that I did spec when we built the house a couple years ago was a gas stove and water heater, specifically because you can cook and clean your nasty self w/o power ;) Water heater is electric ignition as well as the stove, but I can still light the stove burners with a zippo. Have to plug the water heater and stove (for the oven) into the generator, though, to get either to fire. I have peace of mind if my wife is at home alone and power goes out (I often get stuck at work or called out as an "essential" employee during crisis events) so she ends up by herself. Now I can not worry as much as before if/when an event occurs. And from the 10K foot level, it should enhance our home value and help us to refinance to a lower rate and shorter term next year once we build a bit more equity.

that's the "beauty" of living in central Virginia....there's never a dull moment around here. We get ice (and some snow) storms in the winter that pull power lines down, and tornadoes and hurricanes in the summer/fall that do the same. Not saying it's worse weather here than anywhere else, but it sure is different than southwest PA that we moved from :yes:

The wife and I have been saving our pennies (and I've not been having any fun with my Jeeps :( ) for the last little while, and today I pulled the plug on a whole-house backup generator. Having lived thru two hurricanes, a couple monster snowstorms (well, monster-like for VA anyhow...), lots of ice storms, some tornadoes and a recent earthquake since we've moved here, it's always been my main priority to get one. 20Kw Generac (100A breakered), natural gas fed, and it comes with a brandy new NEMA 1 "advanced load center", which is basically a new breaker panel with built in emergency circuitry and auto transfer switch. I'm also installing a whole-house surge protector at the panel....in our last house we had the same tree in the backyard hit twice by lightning and it fried a bunch of stuff inside. It'll take about 6 weeks to deliver, then install will begin (not by me, I'm contracting this all out to a local electrical contractor). Gas company is already scheduling to replace my meter with a larger one to feed the beast, but the good thing is the service line to the meter from the main is adequately sized, and doesn't need to be replaced (and my yard doesn't have to get dug up). I'll be taking pics and updating this thread over the next couple months, but don't expect anything to really start happening until about mid-March. We're going on our annual vacation at the end of Feb (and taking her parents along :roll:), so nothing 'till we get back from that, at least. Yeah, it's a bit of overkill for just the two of us and the cats, but I'd rather have more juice than I need than the other way around :yes: Jeff

1 cup sugar ... 1 tsp. baking powder 1 cup water 1 tsp. salt 1 cup brown sugar Lemon juice 4 large eggs Nuts 1 bottle tequila 2 cups dried fruit Sample the tequila to check quality. Take a large bowl; check the tequila again to be sure it is of the highest quality. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point, it is best to make sure the tequila is still OK. Try another cup just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 eegs and add to the bowl and chuck iin the cup of dried fruit. Pick the fruit up off the floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit getas stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the tequila to test for tonsisticity. Next, sift 2 cups of salt, or something. Check the tequila. Now shift the lemon ice strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 s and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the tequila and wipe the counter with the cat.

you'll need four AX15-specific pieces to make your new parts play nicely together.... -crossmember (divoted in the center) -TC linkage piece that bolts to the tranny tunnel (the heim-thingy is not centered, it's offset to the rear) -TC linkage rod that connects the bottom of the shifter to the range lever on the TC (specific length, different than an AW4 or AX4/5 trans) -TC link bracket that bolts to the trans Also, to swap a 4.0 in place of a 2.5, you'll need 4.0 frame horns (they bolt to the framerail, not welded like Wranglers are) and 4.0 motor mounts. The 2.5 stuff "looks" like it will work, but they don't. Trust me, they don't (see my sig). I DD an '01 TJ, and have been for the last 4 years almost to the day... currently looking for a cheap XJ to take on DD status and either sell the TJ or keep it for a "funtime" vehicle. The wife isn't too keen on having 3 jeeps in the driveway, though. Jeff

I did the same thing Pete :banana: tried shimming it but never could get it to work right, so I ended up swapping in a newer pedal assembly out of the same XJ I pulled the booster from and spliced the contact switch in. If you can fab up a bracket in the correct spot on your pedal assembly to hold the contact switch, you just need to splice the pink and white wires into your old switch circuit. The pic below is the new pedal assembly and spliced switch....you can see the bracket that holds the brake (and cruise control) switches Jeff Image Not Found

If you're going via Shippensburg, you are going to be very tempted to take I81 down to Hagerstown and then hit I70/270 into DC to pick up I95 Do NOT do this, especially if you are pulling a trailer......traffic around I495 (beltway around DC) is horrific, unless you are coming thru at 2 AM on a Sunday morning. Stay on I81 down to I66 and take it east to route 17 and come in thru the back side of Fredericsburg and pick up I95 there. I am about 20 minutes south of Richmond on I95 (Chester, VA), exit 58B. There's also a full service Pilot truckstop off this exit, too. Swing by on your way down or back, or both....I'll feed ya and beer ya up :cheers: Jeff

been running one in mine for the last 2+ years with no problems. Actually ran it in 4H (FWD) a bit until I got a rear shaft cut to size. Just pull the electric speedo pickup out and swap in your old one, good to go. Jeff

Sadly, our oldest cat Speedbump passed away a couple of weeks ago....he was my buddy and a Pittsburgh cat (we brought him down to VA with us when we moved here in '99). To help ease the pain of loosing him, the wife and I just adopted two brothers from a local no-kill shelter. To say that we forgot just how much energy and playfulness that kittens have versus full grown, fat and lazy cats (our other two) would be an understatement ;) Here's a rare shot of them not being bonzai crazy......they only stay like this for about 15 seconds or so, and then it's off to the races all over again. ^^^what he said :thumbsup: Try unplugging your O2 sensor and driving it to see if the problem goes away. If it does, replace it. I had a random problem like yours once when I was still running the 2.5, chased it for over a month trying to figure it out. One day as it was acting up, I popped the hood and started unplugging things to try to diagnose. As soon as I pulled the O2 connector apart the idle smoothed out and it ran normally. I drove it unplugged for a couple months, then plugged it in and it ran normally again for a bit then started acting up again. Replaced the sensor and never had the problem again. Jeff

The track it has taken so far is eerily, if not almost identical, to Isabel's track back in 2003. Hopefully it will recurve back out to sea and be a fish storm, I don't want to go thru another Isabel ever again, especially now right after Irene bombed us out. It's been 5 days and counting now, still no power at the house :( waiting, and watching... Jeff
